sonic.exe or “every copy of mario 64 is personalized”
ik it’s not very detailed but i only really know about these two creepypastas (also, do you know the origin of “creepypasta”…. is it like…. copy/paste??)
i'm not TOO familiar with the mario 64 one but i Really do not like sonic.exe so i'll have to go with mario on this one. i know sonic.exe is a classic but i do Not like when the crutch of the story is just "oooo scary demon with unknown origins ooooo he's gonna get you" especially if it's twisting/utilizing an already-existing piece of media. it just feels cheap? not only is the concept not anything new, but the story also doesn't do anything really new or interesting with it.
haunted cartridges/games are really oversaturated as is (and even was honestly when it first came out) and the ones that stand out the most are those that do the most creative things with it. NES godzilla i feel is a really good example of a well-executed "rom hack" style pasta. BEN drowned also, although technically that was more of an ARG than anything
