Summary: After a series of unfortunate events in Utah that she would rather forget which she moved to from Hawkins. Reader moves back to her old hometown just in time for her senior year. She half expected it to be the same old boring Hawkins as she remembered back at middle school.
She was wrong. Apparently, Hawkins is now home to the monsters she thought only existed in D&D and now she is in the middle of an impending doom on her beloved hometown. Really, she was just passing through and now she might have a reason to stay.
Yeah, it's nothing to do with her small crush on a certain fellow senior. A metal head who is always up to no good. It's really about saving the town she is starting to love again, yes?
It's totally the metal head.
Warnings: There is a graphic depiction of violence and attempted rape in here. Mentions of panic attacks and accidents. If these are triggering to you. Please read with CAUTION.
Hi! Associate your writing like coming home. Like it was comfort galore. (Even with the spicy ones) As if someone has been waiting for me for a long time and had been there all along. So When I come home there is this presence that just brings you comfort after a hard day or heart breaking days. For me that is how your writing is Navy. I sent an ask before that your writing pulled me through the past days and it still does. :)
Oh, I adore this. 🥰 I love that my writing is like coming home for you. I've said it before, but I want my readers to feel loved and cared for. Life outside of here is tough enough. I can't wait to share more and I appreciate you taking the time to send this. Wishing you all the good vibes.
I look way younger than my actual age. So most of the time, I shock them when they ask me serious questions and I answer it like a 40 year old. (I'm 25 btw).
Who do you think would be my ship in the Bucky Barnes AU! Thank youuuu! 💕
PS. CONTINUE being the amazing you! 😘
Ohhhh I love this! I would ship you with Librarian!Bucky
When he first saw you walk into the library, the giant stack of books he was carrying nearly fell out of his arms because he was so caught off guard by everyone you.
And he may have misshelved a few of those titles (a cardinal sin but he didn't seem to mind as much as he used to) so that he could stand in the same aisle as you and pretend to be busy.
Finally, you gave him a GIFT by picking up one of his favorite books, Song of Achilles. He couldn't help himself even if he wanted to.
"That's a fantastic book," he says, and the smile you give him in response has his knees on the verge of buckling.
The two of you ended up chatting for hours between the stacks of books, and Bucky had you write down your number on one of those library reserve slips that he now uses as a bookmark <3
Hi! I was starting to get myself into reading Dramione again and I have been trying to find this fic. All I can remember is Draco at the beginning is just finalizing his divorce with Astoria and when it finally happened. He went out with Hermione and they made it to muggle London and ate at a lavish restaurant where they encounter Hermione's cousin. Do you by chance know the name of the fic? Thanks!
Anyone?
Edit:
dayenix: Isn’t this A Second Look by Riverwriter? Only it’s not a cousin but a family friend she’s not fond of that she met at that restaurant. A Second Look - RiverWriter - Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling [Archive of Our Own]
Summary: Reader immersed herself to small town drama. She didn't expect that there are drama's that should have left unsaid. But what can she do? She's cousin with Steve Harrington. It's bound to happen.
Warnings: Brief mention of violence, drug use and alchoholism. Cursing and innuendos (Should it be a warning?).
Words: 9.2k+
Note: This is what I tell you when I got carried away but SUPRISE. Decided to post the second part because I felt the first part didn't give any Eddie at all but I think this is my longest part out of everything else. I fleshed it out more because I felt like everything is abrupt? Hope you like this guys!
Part One | Series Masterlist
Cross posted in Ao3. Just search the series name. :)
As much as you dreaded the first day and predicted it to be shitty. It was quite tame, at least on a level that you think its tame. You did become an eye candy but not much. Thank God for being born in the town. People are more curious about how much you have changed since you and your father left.
You have grown taller that you are sure and you decided to never let your hair be cut above your shoulders. Despite how irritating it was to maintain. You hated the bob cut. It was your mom’s favorite haircut on you, you don't even remember why and because of that you just hated it. You don’t want any reminders about your mom. She clearly don't want anything to do with you, why not do the same right?
Despite Steve’s warnings of staying away from Billy Hargrove, he did come for you but you made sure that he would fuck off. ("What does a pretty little thing like you doing in this town?" -Silence- "You don't talk much?" "Oh. I'm taught not to talk to strangers," "Well, I'm Billy--" "Oh shoot, I'm also taught not to talk with assholes.") It was a spectacle to some as whispered ‘oohs and aahs’ were heard during the exchange. You knew you just created your worst enemy, at least at the moment.
Maybe being Billy Hargrove’s number one enemy isn’t good if you want a boring year but you’ll take it instead of being the object of his fixation. With him down, you managed to get through the day until Lunch. Clearly, Highschool is so lame for having designated seats for certain groups.
You had a fast run down of it thanks to Steve who brought you to the “popular” kids table. He even introduced people who lead the factions. There are the artsy kids, the band kids, the preppy kids, the athletes which are separated of course (“We have the soccer heads, tracks then the cheer team and us.” “The jocks?” “The basketball team, Squirt.” “It's the Jocks.” “We are not Jocks–” “If you want me to be specific, asshole, shit heads, playboys and then Jerks.” “May I remind you, you are sitting with us.” “No Steve, I'm sitting with you,”)
All throughout that introduction you just don’t see yourself fitting in to anyone at school, not until Steve introduced the last table.
“You see that table near the end,” Steve mumbled to you as he pointed at it discreetly. You looked over as you scanned a series of people wearing the same shirts with different variations. Some wore it over flannels, others wore it as it is and then…. Your eyes landed on the one who is wearing it with a leather jacket and denim vest over that jacket. The familiar logo of DIO on the back of the vest he is wearing faced you. You just nodded at Steve as the man your eyes landed on was talking a bit animatedly earning a few laughs in the group.
“That is the Hellfire club–”
“The freaks,” Tommy who was apparently listened through your conversation butted in. Steve offered a sarcastic thanks before he glared at him. You just raised a brow at Tommy, irritated at the interruption and kept your face stoic. That made him shut his mouth as he was about to say more and turned away.
“The freaks?” You finally turned to Steve after staring Tommy down. You can’t help but be irritated by another stereotypical term. God, Steve really needs new friends. He is too involved in gossips and he is conforming a lot to the society's fucked up system. Steve cringed at your tone.
“Not exactly, it's just that they are a group who likes metal bands and D&D,” He told you and you straightened a bit about that with a raised brow.
“They play dungeons and dragons?” You mused as you looked over at them. This time you see that man with the leather jacket moved towards the head of the table where he sat back down. His face was covered by his curly black hair and you can’t help but want to take a peak.
“Yes, it's supposed to be a devil’s game ,” Steve supplied using the air quotes action like you did when you both saw each other for the first time. This time you looked away from the man and looked over at Steve with a glare. Steve stared back and then blinked as you continue to stare.
“It’s not a devil’s game,” you deadpanned and Steve just looked at you confused.
“You play?” Steve asked and you shrugged as you looked back at the table. Not quite done staring or rather admiring the leather clad man.
“Yes I do, back in U-U– back where I came from,” You stuttered a bit, cursing yourself why can’t you say the name of the damn place. Steve, who was focused on the knowledge about his cousin, didn’t notice. Thank God for that. “And if you believe that it was a devil’s game. You have a cousin involved. Just so you know,” You told him. At that Steve rolled his eyes, hearing the mocking tone in your voice. Something he has to get used to.
“I’m not scared of you, Squirt.” Steve said and then you slowly looked back at him. You make sure your eyes are void of any emotion and slowly bring the corner of your lips up. Making sure Steve is staring at you as you deliver your most sinister smile. His eyes widened and then his hand covered your face to get it out of the view. “Stop that,” He exclaimed followed by your name as you tried to make him look. You dissolved into chuckles after that while Steve just looked at you in disbelief.
“By the way, you might recognize the leader of the group. Eddie Munson,” with the mention of the name, your brows raised up at the information. Eddie Munson? The kid with the buzz cut and cutest smile. Your brain supplied. You looked at Steve as he pointed over to the guy you were eyeing before and when your eyes landed on him. He was already staring back at you.
Your eyes connected and both of you froze. Recognition settled on both your faces. You took him in as memories of the talent show you attended back at Middle School came to you. You remembered a kid with a buzz cut and doe eyes holding on to his guitar. Excited about performing while you are backstage just finished dancing with your team.
“Nice routine, you looked very pretty up there.” That was the first time you remembered being called pretty since that ugly bob cut. You blushed at that and now that you remembered it you can’t help but feel the familiar heat crawling up your cheeks.
Now looking at him, he now sported a full head of hair as long as yours. His doe eyes are still the same. It has the same sparkle it has when he complimented you but clearly puberty must hit him, he looks good. He looks… fucking good. Oddly enough, he reminds you of Ozzy Osbourne who you had a chance to see in a concert back at Utah, which you sneaked in of course with a few “friends” back then.
“Yeah, I remember him,” you mumbled to Steve as you offered Eddie a smile. That broke him out of his frozen state as he tilted his head. Recognition swarming in those eyes before his eyes flickered beside you then back to you. He raised a brow before he offered his own, then taking a small bow as a greeting.
Steve was oblivious to the exchange as he tucked in with his sandwich. “Well, he’s not the same kid as before back in middle school. He is very different. He do things on the side—”
“Like what?” You asked abruptly about Steve’s gossip for the first time since he started to introduce everything in the highschool. He stopped mid chew as he looked at you surprised by your interest. He swallowed before answering.
“He sells weed among other things.” Steve said and you raised a brow at that. The image of the innocent boy coming back to you and then the image of the man now. He does look like some one who sells those things since that would be the exact image of a drug dealer the people think about. Gosh, its starting to sound like these people are living inside a fucking television.
“So?” You looked at him confused. “Back where I came from, weed is a staple.” you told him as you remembered your “friends” selling blunts at 16 and they don't exactly look like that.
“You smoked before?” Steve can’t help but ask. You shook your head. You were never influenced by them, since your father smoke for the both of you already. Though if asked about drinking? That would be a different topic all together.
“Nah, Papa smokes enough for the both of us,” You told him as you picked up your food and took a bite of it. “Going back to Eddie Munson, does he still live with his parents back in Daffodils?” You asked as you remembered that it was two streets over from where you formerly lived. Steve shook his head.
“Ummm, his mother is just like yours, left” Steve told you and you don’t know if you want to point out how much of a gossiper Steve was or question how the hell he knows this information. You decided not to bother. Though your heart ached a little at the knowledge of shared history with Eddie Munson out of all people. “Though his old man lives but is currently in Jail. He lives with his uncle now. That is all I know,” Steve told you. You looked back at their table as you heard a laugh. His laugh.
“And you say they are devil worshippers—”
“Others say not me, Squirt.” Steve corrected you and you just waved him away as your eyes remained on the group.
“There is nothing wrong with selling weed and playing fantasy games. It’s what they like. They shouldn’t be defined as freaks or devil worshippers,” You mumbled as you picked up your food. If there are people who are called that, those would be the ones you encountered back then. You can’t help but think, subconsciously rubbing your hand over your stomach as you did. Thank God that cut lip you had started to heal nicely and didn’t hurt anymore. You tried to bury it down and got ready to eat more when another voice, this time a shrilly one interrupted.
“I heard his club is not really a club but a cult. They always listened to that god awful metal music—””
“Well, you listen to Madonna and I’m not calling you a slut,” You interjected and that shut her up immediately. You looked towards Carrie? Or is it Cammy? not noticing that you had garnered attention. You kind of raised your voice a bit. You even caught the attention of the table where Eddie Munson resides. “Also, you guys gossip around and I’m not calling you loudmouths. So if I were you, stop with your bullshit and eat your lunch,”
You turned and saw Steve looking back down at you and then to the girl. He just looked at her with the ‘you asked for it’ expression. Clearly he had enough of his “friends” too.
You stood up after that and picked up your food tray. Having enough of your conversation with your cousin being interrupted. You decided to make the move today.
“I’m imposing the same warning with Billy with him,” Steve offered before you can leave. You stopped and looked back at him.
“I’m imposing the same warning with Billy with him,” Steve offered and just looked at him.
“I did say I want boring Hawkins but I suppose I should find some interest if I want to survive the year,” You told him. “Id’ rather spend time with the so called freaks than with stock up people who can’t leave other people’s businesses.” You emphasized as you glanced at Tommy and the girl. Gosh you did forget her name when Steve introduced you to them.
You didn’t wait for his response as you moved towards where Eddie Munson is. The chatter suddenly quieted down as you reached them. All eyes are on you as you offer a smile.
“Hey, you don’t mind if I join you guys?” You asked them. Your eyes try to find familiar faces and you did as you saw Gareth and Jeff. Two people you also knew back then who offered small smiles. You remember them, they were the quiet kids back at middle school. You also shared a few classes with them. Then your eyes settle on Eddie who is looking at you with an unreadable face.
“Why should we grant you access?” Eddie spoke up after a beat of staring. He was mid-bite on his own food and he continued as he spoke. You shrugged.
“Maybe I want to join your club,” You told them. “Besides, I’m the new girl. Isn't it kind of mandatory to take in new Sheep?”
“Not really new,’ Gareth offered as he mentioned your name. You just shrugged again and looked at Eddie. He was looking over at you. His eyes suddenly unreadable before he tilted his head to the side. He looked over at where you were seated previously.
“You are a Harrington though. Aren’t they supposed to be born from greatness and not associate with the freaks?” Eddie said and you snorted at that.
“You are talking to the wrong one,” You supplied before you laid your tray of food to the table. You leaned down a bit to meet his stare head on. “Besides, my level 12 gloom stalker ranger elf needs a new party. My Lyn is itching for a new fight,”
WIth that information, a gasp was heard from the group and they started to whisper at each other. You smirked as you crossed your arms on your chest and you can’t help but be elated as Eddie eyed your movement. Then slowly he stood up and then walked towards you until he stood beside you.
You two stared at each other. The cafeteria oddly became a bit quiet. Watching the exchange between the not-so-new girl and the freak. Then slowly Eddie smiled and bowed down.
“Welcome to Hellfire m’lady,”
You smirked. You might want the same old hawkins but having a bit of fun isn’t bad right?
Well, you had your old boring hawkins with a side of fun. For at least a few weeks, you settled in quite nicely when you started to hang out with the Hellfire Club and it's not bad that their leader is a pure eye candy for you.
Despite Steve’s warning (“I just told you to stay away from him!” “You and I both know that telling me what not to do would just make me want to do it!” “You had no problem with Billy?!” “He’s a playboy and an asshole. Eddie is different!”), you did get close to Eddie. Though at first it was through the club then the deal breaker for the both of you to cross the threshold for being acquaintances to friends came in a few days after your first day of school and hanging out with the Hellfire club.
You decide to ride out a bit since Harold and Miriam are out again for a business trip and Steve is quite busy with Nancy or whatever the hell is going on between them. (“Your relationship sounds rocky to me, Jerk.” “It's just a phase. All couples have that.” “Whatever helps you sleep at night.”) You are in one of those funky days, wherein your mind keeps on drifting towards what happened back there.
That unfortunate night that made you hightail for Hawkins as soon as you can. It was a good thing the bruises have healed and it's only the scars underneath your shirt that is the evidence of the shit show. Though it's hard not to show the side effects it gave you. How skittish you are and how easily you jumped at unknown sounds. You are even having trouble saying the name of the goddamn place. You are struggling not to let it show when you are inside the house. It helps that it's always almost empty except for Steve’s presence but even then, the house felt stifling.
The only thing that calms you now is the rush of the ride. The wind spattering against your skin as you revved up your bike. The one thing you had in Utah that wasn’t filled with bad memories.
Your mind started to drift towards the first time you got the bike. It was a present to yourself after you got your driver’s license. You saved up enough to buy it. Your dad helped at least, one of the good things he did back then but the bike is all on you. It was the fruit of having part time jobs and taking up as many summer jobs as you can for two years.
You never felt that kind of happiness, not since that talent’s show in middle school wherein you snagged a runner up and encountered one of the most interesting kids you know in Hawkins. So when the shit show happened, the bike was one of the main things you secured. It actually saved your life.
Though you had to use some of the money your father left you to change the upholstery of the seat. It was soaked in blood and you had to make sure that it was scrubbed clean before you used it to drive all the way to Hawkins. The memory of your wounds made you wince and reach for your stomach.
Shit. I’m just going in circles with this. You thought as your mind absentmindedly started to go back to the memories you try to forget. You shook your head and tried to look at where you drove off to. After a minute, you realize you are no longer on the main road but instead on a trail. You slowed down just enough for you to hear your surroundings instead of the roar of your motorbike.
Then you hear the splashes of water and as you take a final turn on the trail, you hit the brakes to see that you have arrived at Lover’s Lake. At least the part where the public is allowed to be.
You looked around before you shrugged and turned the bike towards what looks to be a parking lot. You ride your motorbike and parked it horizontally so the front wasn’t facing the lake but the sides of it.
You removed your gloves and next your helmet. You can’t help but notice the scratches on it and you dusted it off before you placed it on the handle bars. Then you lifted your thigh to sit on the bike facing the lake. You adjusted your skirt as the wind blew by making you pull your leather jacket around your body. You observed and marveled at how much the lovers' lake changed a bit. You remembered this wasn’t really a public park before, it was a clearing just like where you are parked and no benches around it. You remembered riding your bikes with Steve here and playing with the water or climbing the trees. Now almost a decade has passed and it's apparently a new attraction now.
You reach out for the can of beer you manage to sneak in from Steve’s hidden stash which he showed you one night when Harold and Miriam are asleep. (“You just became my favorite cousin Steve.” “I’m your only cousin Squirt,”) You pulled it out from the compartment behind your bike that is where you stashed your helmet but instead decided to use it as an ice box.
You were just about to pop it open when you heard a rustling. You straightened immediately and jumped down the bike. Your right hand clenched over the cold beer, ready to use it as a weapon. You scanned the area and remained quiet.
You heard it again and this time it's right in front of the bushes you are parked at. You hold the can tighter ready to throw it towards whatever is coming at you. You strained your eyes a bit to see but nothing still pops out. Your breathing started to grow heavy and your hearts started to race.
You inhaled sharply as it rustled again and held your breath as the bushes moved hastily. This time as if it's threatening to come out. It did not register to you that it was accompanied by grumbles and curses you were too focused on protecting yourself. You just threw the damn beer at it.
“Fucking hell– woah!” It took you a few blinks before you realized that the beer can was caught by someone and that someone is staring right back at you. Familiar brown doe eyes that you try not to stare at for the past few weeks since you returned to Hawkins centered your vision.
“Jesus Christ Eddie!” You exclaimed as you breathed out in relief. Eddie offered a sheepish smile as he waved with a hand that was not holding the beer can you threw.
“Hi, didn’t mean to scare you,” He mumbled as you just rolled your eyes at him. He then looked down at the beer can and raised both of his brows. “Where did you get this?” He asked, trying to divert the topic but you are too caught up with him appearing out of nowhere.
“Why are you here? Aren’t you supposed to be at Gareth's?” You can’t help but ask. Eddie raised a brow at that and when he did. You realized that it wasn’t really common knowledge that on Wednesday nights Eddie goes to Gareth’s house to practice and write songs for their band Corroded Coffin. Unless you have interest in the metal head and listened closely whenever he talks with someone in the group that isn’t you. Didn't you just advocate at your very first day about minding your own business? Well shit.
“Are you aware of my schedule sweetheart?” He asked and you cleared your throat as you turned towards the ice box and retrieved another can. Not wanting to show the effect of that damn pet name. He started calling you after the first campaign you joined in.
“Just overheard since you don’t know how to talk quietly.” You pointed out and Eddie mockingly looked offended before he chuckled. “Anyway, what the fuck are you doing behind the bushes?” You asked irritated as you finally popped the can open. You finally took a sip of it as you waited for him to answer. “You doing that is just doing justice to what they tell about you,”
Eddie in the process, motioned if he can have the beer and you just nodded. He carefully popped it open, knowing that it was shaken from the throw. It fizzled a lot and overflowed but he managed as he hastily took a drink of it.
“I have to make a deal,” He started as he moved towards you after drinking the beer. “It was in a private area near here. Had to cancel the practice.” He continued to tell you as you turned around and leaned on your bike instead. “During that, I heard a loud grunt of machinery. Had to check out who the hell would be coming here on a Wednesday night.”
You snickered at that. “You just want gossip.” You mused and this time it was Eddie who snickered as he finally stood beside you. You patted your bike indicating for him to freely lean on it which he did. “You snoop around for couples who are not supposed to be here.”
“Maybe, maybe not. It's a dealer’s occupational hazard you can say. We live for the drama,”
This time you laughed and took another sip of the beer. “I think its just, you live for the drama Eddie,”
“That is true,” He agreed with a nod as he took another sip of the beer. “Well, my alibi is taken care of. What are you doing here and how the hell did you manage to get some six-pack?”
You carefully took another sip of the beer as you tried to form a reason on why you are really out there. You can’t say you are trying to forget something, it would just cause a lot of more questions. You are not yet ready to tell it to anyone. Instead you have gone on the teasing route.
“Maybe I am trying to snoop out some gossip too,” You offered and Eddie snorted at that.
“You? Oh please, if I was talking to Harrington, I would believe that,”
You turned to him with a raised brow. “I am Harrington” you told him as if he was missing the point and Eddie shook his head as he turned to look at you.
“I know that, but you are not really like the Harrington. You are different from him,”
You raised a brow as you glanced at him before you turned your gaze back to the lake. “How do you say so? The last time we saw each other was in middle school and I just got here,”
Eddie was quiet for a while after the question and you can’t help but turn to look at him. He was already looking back at you but with a thoughtful gaze.
“The girl I knew back then might be different from now but you are always different to me,” Eddie offered quietly. You felt your back straightened a bit as the atmosphere changed into something. “You might be a spitfire now after the tearing down you brought Billy Hargrove on your first day of school and the way you just brought down Tommy and Carol—”
“Oh, that was her name. I thought it was Cammy or Carrie,” You mused loudly and Eddie snorted at that.
“--But sometimes I see the girl I knew back in middle school. The one who never really cares about others lives as long as they stay out of yours. You never really meddle and you respect others' space. Just like you did mine a minute ago. You didn’t even ask anything about the deal I made which is my conclusion makes you different,”
“It's none of my business anyway Eddie,” You told him as you took a sip. “Besides, back at where I came from, it’s totally normal.”
“Really?” He asked as he finally leaned back again to the bike facing the lake.
“Yeah, I do hang around with dealers, they are my friends there,” You shared as you looked at him. “Though before you ask if I smoke or not. I don’t. I hate it. I was only there for the booze and D&D,” You added and Eddie nodded. You let the silence enveloped the two of you after that. Not wanting to say anything at all after that.
You rolled Eddie’s words inside your head as to preoccupy you not to spill out the real reason you were there. Until it stopped as if a record scratch can be heard as you turned towards him.
“Wait, you still remember me back in middle school?” You asked surprised as Eddie nodded while he took a sip of his beer.
“Yes, how could I forget? You stole my runner up,” He quipped and you looked at him dumbfounded by that statement.
“I did not!” you started to protest as you pointed at him with one of the fingers still holding the can. “I won that fair and square jackass,”
Eddie laughed at your expression as he lifted his hands in an act of surrender.
“I was joking, I knew that you were really great,” He told you as you leaned back on the bike and took a sip of your beer. “Besides, who would not forget the only person who looked good with a bob cut,”
“I actually did not recognize you until Steve pointed it out. All I remember about you is the buzzcut.” You offered to him ignoring the compliment and laughed as he clutched his heart dramatically as if hurt.
“Ouch, that wasn’t a good thing to be remembered by,”
“I also remember you rocking it out at the talent show. It's a shame they didn't appreciate metal back then,” You just said to him and he smiled at that.
“They might not like it but I think someday their kids would,” He mumbled and you nodded in agreement. “You listened to them?”
“I dabble,” You told him. “You might have recommendations for me?” You asked and Eddie nodded.
“I have some, remind me to give them to you the next time we see each other.” Eddie said and you hummed. Silence enveloped the both of you as the two of you took leisurely sips of the beer.
“So, you got the rundown of the School’s hierarchy by the King himself,”
You snorted at that. “Apparently, he was dethroned– yup, you heard that right it was his words by the way— by Billy Hargrove,”
Eddie recoiled a bit at the mention of the name. You raised a brow at the expression. “Why did you make a face like that?”
“I might have a gossip or two about him,” He mumbled and your eyes widened at that. A smirk appeared on your face as you turned to Eddie. He saw that and he couldn't help but laugh. “You are one for gossip now?”
“Well, you are the one who thinks I'm not all for it. I do mind my business but if it's from someone I hate. I don’t mind having a fuel of my own against him,” You told him and he can’t help but laugh at that. “Now tell me,” you demanded as you waited eagerly.
Eddie looked over at you taking his time to examine your face. Though when you noticed you felt the heat creeping up to your face before you cleared your throat and wiggled your brows at him. He laughed before he took the final sip of his beer and crushed it in his hand. “Maybe next time,”
You groaned. “Oh come on! You can’t just leave me like that,”
Eddie chuckled as he fished out what looked to be keys from his front pocket. “I already stayed long enough. I was supposed to do some grocery shopping for me and Wayne,” he told you as he started to walk backwards slowly. “Besides, it's a good conversation starter for next time.”
“For next time?’ You told him as you followed him with your eyes.
“Yes, next time you need a friend to talk to. Get you out of your head,” He said as he stopped walking. You stared at him a bit stunned as he looked at you with a soft smile. “I already saw you before I made my appearance. I know the look you have. I have that too, when you face crazy on a daily basis. You sometimes need to get yourself out of your head.”
You just stared at him stunned at how much he was able to read you despite the hard work you put on putting a strong front. Then his words are processed and you can’t help but tilt your head at him.
“Friend?” You mumbled and Eddie nodded as he offered a little bit of a confused expression but with a smile.
“Aren’t we?” He asked and you just blinked before chuckling. You nodded your head.
“Yeah we are,” you confirmed and Eddie bowed dramatically.
“Well then, my friend, I shall keep going.” He said and you nodded. He waved one last time as he turned back around. Probably walked back to his van but you can’t help but call out his name as you watched him.
He stopped and turned back to you. You stared back at him before you offered a small smile.
“Thank you, for not asking too much,” You told him and he nodded.
“No problem sweetheart,”
Despite the threshold being walked over, you can’t help but feel a lot more than friendly feelings when the metal head is involved. It wasn’t really forgotten that you had a little crush on him back at middle school that no one knows about. You were that good at hiding things.
You relish the high of being friends and at least having people to be with in Hawkins but still it's the same Old Hawkins. Though Hawkins isn’t really the same without any small town drama that is apparently what Eddie thrives on and oddly Steve too.
You were quite shocked at how much you knew whatever was going around in Hawkins for the few weeks of your stay. You just got back and you already knew what happened inside the Whedon’s house (“I tell you Squirt, Jerry Whedon is cheating on his wife.” “How the hell can you even tell that Steve?” “Jerry just screams cheating, everytime he comes home late.” “You are spying on them Steve? Don’t you have anything better to do?”) when you have Steve Harrington, King of Hawkins as a cousin and Eddie “The Freak” Munson as a friend. (“Did you know that there is a girl who apparently haunts the woods. It was the talk of the town the same time when Will Byers disappeared.” “A girl, around these woods?” “Yes, surprisingly she was described walking around with a dress and a buzz cut.” “Just like you did back in middle school?” “you know what? Gareth is still a virgin.” “i know that already, Eds”)
The two people that had started to worm their way under your skin are just full of them and it helps you forget what you are trying to forget. Steve unknowingly becomes your rock as you try to recover from the “Shit Show”. You don’t know but you were thankful for him for that to the point when Harold and Miriam are out. You decided to treat him to a dinner spread. You pulled out your cookbook and made the only thing you know how to make. Lasagna which Steve devoured the minute it was given to him.
“Not going to rain on your parade, Squirt but what is this for?” Steve asked after he chowed down two servings and looked to be reaching for his third while you were just trying to finish your first serving. You looked at him, shocked that he picked up that you have another intention of serving the lasagna. Steve must have seen your expression as he looked at you slightly offended. “I might be a Jerk and quite dense. I do have a brain underneath all this hair.” He mumbled.
You can’t help but snort at that. “Good thing you have a brain underneath that. It's a waste of genes if nothing is underneath that.”
“Hey! You are trying to divert the topic by insulting me. What’s going on?” He asked and you sighed as you looked up at him as you took a sip of the iced tea he made. Steve looked over at you with raised brows and when he noticed your hesitation to share. His expression softened. “You okay? You know you can talk to me right?”
“Yes, I'm okay Steve. I am just—” you stopped as you moved the last bit of the lasagna around your plate. “Grateful, to you. Despite your protest in the first day—”
“---I’m sorry about that okay—”
“--- I know as I was saying, I was just grateful to you. You have been someone constant here in Hawkins for me. I was half expecting you to ignore me after that spectacle in the cafeteria but you didn’t. So, thank you.”
Steve looked at you for a while before he offered a smile.
“It’s nothing Squirt. You are my one and only cousin. Also, you kind of made this house less lonely.” He said and the both of you are quiet for a while before you scrunch your nose.
“It's kind of unsettling to talk about feelings with you,” You told him and Steve rolled his eyes.
“I don’t even know if that was an insult or not but thank you for the Lasagna.” Steve mumbled and you just offered a smirk at him. You two ate for a while before he spoke again. “But if you want to talk about feelings or just about anything to me. You can, you know that right?” He said and looked at you pointedly.
You sighed. “Yes mom”
Then there is Eddie, despite being portrayed as oblivious and too loud enough not to notice the lives of everyone around him. He is quite in tuned to the people he said he considered close friends. You were happy that despite the short time that you both spent with each other after being away for so long. He considered you one of his friends. Well, you might want to be more than friends with him at times but nah. You are fucked up as it is now. You don’t want to add up in his fucked up life — his words not yours.
He becomes your constant person too. The Wednesday meetings at the lover’s lake became your thing with him. He even goes there without a deal knowing you would be there nursing some beer. Sometimes he would bring his own drink. He offered you a smoke but you didn't do that and refused. Though you don’t stop him from taking some.
“Ohh, spitfire! Nice to meet you here,” Eddie said as he walked over to you after he slammed the Van’s door closed. He waved the six pack on his hand while you waved the take out burgers from the diner.
“As if you don’t know I am already here,” you mused and Eddie just shrugged. He motioned for you and you walked towards the back of his Van. He opened it to reveal a cozy set up. It was carpeted and the seats are up. In the middle are blankets and pillows. You raised a brow at that.
“This is cozy, do you usually do this with other people?” You asked. Slightly unnerved by the idea he does this with other girls. Not that you should be unnerved or you don’t know… jealous? You were just friends, after all. When you turned to look at Eddie he was looking at you with a smile at his face and his cheeks, reddened?
“Not really, this is newly installed. Thought I could have the Van a makeover,” He told you and you raised a brow at him. He climbed in and settled down on it. He removed his shoes while he looked back at you. “Aren’t you coming?”
You smiled and sat on the edge of the door. “Just need to remove these combat boots,” you told him and Eddie smiled. You heard him shuffled around and then the sound of Black Sabbath’s song was played on low. When you finally removed it, you climbed up as you gave him the food while you settled the boots near the opened doors. You settled beside him as you dusted your jeans off.
Eddie wordlessly opened a bottle for you and you opened a container for him. The two of you exchanged silent thanks and the two dug in without another word. The Van is facing the lake and the two are cozy.
“Are any of your thoughts bothering you today?” Eddie asked as he took his second beer. You were on your third already. You looked over at him before you gave a small smile.
“On a daily basis, it's just quieter today,” You told him as you looked back out. “Maybe these Wednesday outings helps,”
Eddie hummed. “If you are ready to share those thoughts, you know you can tell me?” He said and that made you look back at him. A feeling of dejavu ran over you as you swore you heard Steve say the same words. The difference is, the feeling it gave you. While Steve offered acceptance, to Eddie it felt like he was offering shelter. Somewhere you are protected and safe. Security. Something you struggled with ever since Utah.
“You sound like Steve,” you told him, trying to tamper your feelings. Eddie scrunched his nose at that.
“Out of all the people you compare me with, it's your cousin? It's like saying I'm like your brother,” Eddie told you, the indignation and disbelief clear in his voice and that made you laugh.
“You don’t want me to be my brother?” you mused as you laughed.
“No,” that abruptly stopped your laugh as you looked at him. The conviction and the finality of that word made something in your stomach flip. Eddie is looking at you with something unreadable in his eyes before it turns playful. “Not a brother, more like your sexy friend,”
That made you roll your eyes at him. “Sexy? Really? Oh gosh Eddie Munson. If they could hear how cocky you are, they would think twice about calling you a freak. You should be called a jerk instead.”
“Why do you think I have that nickname sweetheart? Me being the freak is not just about what I like to do but also what I do behind closed doors,”
You gasped and couldn't help but throw a napkin at him. The image of Eddie in bed, doing things to a partner or specifically you is not something you don’t need right now. Gosh, it would just fuel the fantasies you have at night. Eddie laughed at your reddening face.
“Gosh, that is such a perverted thing to say.” You huffed out as Eddie finally stopped laughing and you ran out of things to throw at him.
“At least it made you not think too much,” Eddie offered and you just shook your head as you finished off your beer. You stretched a bit after that as Eddie finally opened the last beer. You winced a bit as you felt a slight pain over your stomach. A brief flash of what happened to you making you wince. Eddie noticed it too apparently.
“Hey you okay?” You looked at him as you rubbed your stomach.
“Oh, I’m just too full,” you lied and Eddie stared at you before he nodded. You rubbed it trying to quell it.
“If you say so, anyway, I do have a new gossip,” Eddie mumbled and you looked over at him waiting to tell you who it was about. “Its about Billy Hargrove guess who he tried to seduce this time?”
“Who?”
“Jerry Whedon’s wife,”
“Oh fuck! No way?!”
With that effectively drowned out your thoughts as he regaled you again with the gossip he managed to get from other people.
Though, the things you try to bury, loom over you. You swore everytime Steve or Eddie spill out gossip or even just tell you about their day or previous experience. They know you are spiraling inside your head again. Steve being ever the nosy one asked a lot of questions until you jokingly insult him and successfully diverts the topic he would stop. Eddie would not ask unless you permitted him to ask you. Which you appreciate from the metal head. If he is not laying out gossip about Billy Hargrove or any other person that you might find interested in Hawkins. He even shares some stories about Wayne, his band or some of his campaign ideas. (“Aren’t you supposed to keep some of it a secret from me? I play in your campaigns Eds,” “I can make exceptions just for you sweetheart.”)
You successfully immersed yourself in drama and other things, at least enough not to get involved but of course. It's inevitable for drama to finally come to you when you are related to Steve Harrington.
On the day of the said party, Steve and Nancy had a fall out. Fortunately, you were there to drive the two of you home. You weren’t keen on taking your bike and decided to ride with Steve. Being the great cousin that you are, you let him rant about him and Nancy. Finally getting the details of what the hell is going on with them.
Apparently, there is a third party and something happened a few months back before you came that he is not allowed to talk about. You did not bother to ask, too occupied with driving since it has been long since you drove a car. You have been driving around with your motorbike since you are sixteen.
Finally, when the both of you reached the house and he was still in the middle of the rant.
“---So I left her there at the bathroom—” You stopped the car abruptly making Steve stop mid rant and nearly flew towards the dashboard. Steve exclaimed your name in the process as he settled back. You turned towards him in a huff.
“You left her? Drunk? Are you fucking kidding me right now, Steve?”
“Yes I did leave her there– ouch! What was that for?”
“You left her there! I think even if you are angry and you claim to love the girl. At least you could have fucking taken her home, Steven!” You exclaimed and this time Steve cursed. You rolled your eyes at him before stepping out of the car. Steve stared at you confused as you rolled your eyes at him. “Drive you asshole!”
He hastily moved towards the Driver seat and sped up after that, though the next day he informed you that someone took her home already then he was off to another rant. This time a guy named Jonathan, popped out of nowhere and it sounded familiar because the next thing you know. It has been two days since it happened and you had enough.
“---I don’t even know anymore—”
“Oh for the love of all that is holy, SHUT UP!” You exclaimed and Steve immediately went silent. You took a deep breath before you turned towards him. You pointed a finger at his chest.
“Do you love Nancy?”
“Yes,” he said without any hesitation.
“Then you haul your ass up and go there to her now. Apologize for leaving her behind and TALK,” You told him as Steve stared at you. When he didn’t move, you rolled your eyes before you clutched the lapels of his jacket and hauled his app. Surprising him with your strength as you took the keys to his car.
“Where are we going?!”
“I’ll make sure you go to Nancy, Jerk and before that we have to buy her some flowers. Then you will grovel your ass,” You stopped right in front of his car and you turned towards him. “Are we clear?”
Steve stared at you before he nodded.
“Okay, yes, okay.” You just threw him the key while you opened the door and sat inside it. The two of you made quick work with the flowers. (“Is this—” “No.” “how about—” “That’s for a funeral, Jerk. Just settle for the roses,”)
As the two of you stopped right in front of the house, you failed to notice a bike thrown on the ground and a young boy with a cap calling out to someone in the house.
“Now, you take this—” You shoved the rose to his chest, “-- and grovel your ass off.”
Steve didn’t talk as he nodded and walked, fixing his hair. You watched amused as he muttered to himself but was stopped short by a young kid with what looks to be a walkie talkie on his hip.
You didn’t hear some of what they were talking about but the young kid was asking him about something as he walked towards the car.
“--- you still have that bat?” The kid asked and Steve looked at him shocked.
“Ugh, yes?”
“Then let’s go! It's an emergency— wait, who are you?” The kid stopped short as he saw you on the passenger seat. You raised a brow at him.
“Who are you?” You asked him back.
“That is why I tell you it's not the time Dustin. She’s my cousin—”
“Well, we will explain everything to her on the way.” Dustin, the kid shooed him and went towards the back door and slid in. Steve just stared dumbfounded and that seemed to irritate the kid. “What are you standing there, come on! This is a matter of life and death!”
That spurred Steve on as he hastily went back to the driver’s seat while you stared confused.
“What the hell is going–”
“We are trying to find what could possibly be a baby demogorgon,” Your eyes widened at that.
“Excuse me, what now?” You asked as you turned to look at the boy. Trying to process if you heard him right.
“A demogorgon, it's a D&D–”
“Yeah, I know what a demogorgon is. The prince of demons, I fought against it too many times in the campaigns I’m in, it's sickening,” you told him and Dustin seemed to be shocked about that. He turned to Steve then to you.
“Are you sure you are related to him?” He asked and Steve rolled his eyes before the two of you got into any discussion Steve interrupted.
“Are you really going to tell her something that we promised not to tell?” You looked even more confused and taken aback at the information overload you are receiving.
“We have to, she’s here and we do not have time to hide things when a demogorgon baby is out there!”
“She’s my cousin! I don’t want her involved in any of this! She already came out from something bad back at her—”
“Wait a fucking minute!” You exclaimed. “Can someone please explain to me what the hell is going on and where we are going anyway!”
That seemed to recenter them as Steve sighed and looked over at Dustin at the rearview mirror. The kid ignored him and turned to you.
“First, we need supplies. Buckets, fresh meat and weapons.” Then he turned to you with a serious expression. “You might not believe what is going to come out of my mouth but it's the truth,” He started as he chanced a glance at Steve who in turn glanced at you.
You just watched them completely confused and bewildered but you saw the hesitation to share. Maybe they were right, you might not believe whatever is going to be said because for god's sake. The Demogorgon only exists in fantasy; it's impossible to exist in the real world.
It was supposed to be imagination for fuck sakes and this is Hawkins! Same old boring Hawkins or apparently is not fucking boring anymore.
“It's okay after what you are going to hear, you might not believe us and you want nothing to do with it but we swear it's the truth.” Dustin continued as he watched you.
You sighed as you just looked over at the both of them. Same fucking old boring Hawkins huh. Fuck it. “Try me then,”
“You asked for it,” Steve said and Dustin launched into the most bewildering story you could ever hear. About a girl named Eleven, their friend Will missing and a lab in Hawkins that is eerily familiar with the lab your father worked at in Utah. The mindflayer and now the demogorgon which was not exactly the prince of demon but a fucking contender which apparently, your cousin Steve together with Nancy and the boy he mentioned before Jonathan killed a few months back.
You sat there shell shocked at the revelation but the odd thing is, you fucking believed them because despite it was a kid who was telling the story. It was Steve’s face that gave it away. Now you recognize the face he makes when you always tell that it was the same old Hawkins, that whatever he is going through with Nancy can be fixed easily and why he goes into a tangent everytime they fight.
Silence filled the car as they reached the butcher shop and when you finally gathered your thoughts you spoke.
“Fuck, Same Old Hawkins they say, apparently its not so boring anymore.” you mumbled as you turned towards them. The two of you looked a bit confused at your statement. You sighed. “Fuck, I wanted to not believe you but part of me believes it.”
Then you turned towards Dustin, “Are you sure it's that demogorgon’s baby that you named Dart and nurtured into almost adulthood?” You asked him.
“Maybe it's just a lizard?” Steve offered and Dustin just looked at the both of you with irritation.
“Yes I'm sure because his face opened up and he ate my cat.” Dustin offered and Steve raised his brows at that while you just stared at him. When Dustin noticed that he added. “When it opens its face it becomes their mouth that could eat,”
“Well, fuck.” you said as you leaned back on your seat.
“Truly utterly fuck,” Steve glared at Dustin who just shrugged.
“In my defense, the guy was cute at first and I didn’t know!”
Knowing it's a lost cause to lecture Dustin, Steve turned towards you. “You sure you okay? You can walk out. I could drop you off at the house.”
“And what? Sit in the house and wait for someone to tell me that you are dead in some ditch?” You mused as you leaned back against the seats with a scoff. You have nowhere to go even if you hightailed it out of there. You thought. You can’t go anywhere and this is a better swap than the shit show. “I can’t walk out Steve. Not when one of the family members I left is in danger. I might as well keep your head in between your shoulders or anything intact. We still need the Harrington name to spread out.”
“I should be insulted with that last but I’m not,” Steve sighed as Dustin snorted. “Just so you know, I managed to kill an adult demodog with a bat,”
“Ugh, not really, I remember it was Nancy who killed it based on their stories,” Dustin interjected.
“I’ll believe it when I see it,” You told him as he rolled his eyes at you. “Besides, if you say these creatures don't seem to be killed easily. I might have something that would help.” You said as you remembered one of your katanas that is also another thing you invested with has been shipped safely. It's a shame it came a day late to Utah. It could have been useful for the shit show. It's now hiding underneath your bed.
“You have something better than a bat with nails?” Steve asked, confused and you smirked.
“Yes,” you mused and Steve was about to ask for more when Dustin interrupted.
“I think we are spending too much time here, we need to go!”
“Okay! I’ll just get the raw meat and we will go by my house to get some pails,” Steve turned towards Dustin who smiled dreamily at you. Steve reached out and flicked his hat. “You better have a plan when I get back,Henderson.”
“Just go!” He exclaimed and he moved towards the Butcher grumbling. Dustin then turned towards you.
“Are you really sure you are related to him?” He asked one more time and this time you can’t help but laugh. Laugh not just at his question but at the absurdity of the situation. You were supposed to be there for a year but now it seems like you are in it for more. It's not bad having fun when you get involved with being friends with Eddie or hearing about gossip but being involved in a government and catastrophe level type of shit.
Well, this is giving Utah a run for its money.
To be continued.

You can’t help but sigh as you take a sip of your drink, but hissed almost immediately as you remembered the still healing cut on your lip. Deciding to fight through the pain, you drank. Your eyes still settled over the small town you thought you would never be seeing again.
“I’m back Hawkins,” You mumbled as you finally drank the last bits of the soda and crushed it with your hands. You haphazardly threw the cup away before you turned towards your motorcycle and picked up your helmet. “Please be just as boring as you should be back then,” You fervently prayed.
Before you were able to put the helmet back on, you stopped short as you stared at you reflection. You quite literally looked to have been gone and back to hell with the amount of fading bruises. You turned towards the mirror as events of what happened to you back at where you came from flashed through your mind. Your eyes traced the fading bruises that littered your face. You were lucky that most of the injuries are on your body and not much on your face. Though, it was really lucky if the injuries on your body is what left scars all over it. You guess there won’t be bikinis for quite some time.
You shook your head as you tried to push back the memories. You will deal with it when you can but for now you just want to forget. You pulled out the concealer you have in the pockets of your satchel, thankful for the innovation of makeup. You applied it the way the nurses thought you how. You do not want to alert your Uncle when he sees your condition. You do not want to discuss anything at all and you want it to stay that way. When you finished, you gave Hawkins one last look.
“Please be fucking boring,” You pleaded to the air and finally put your helmet as you straddled your bike. You back stiff and riddle with tension as you drove off towards the main road.
You just wanted to get to Hawkins as fast as you can. Somewhere safe and far away from that damned place. Fucking state of UTAH. If you have a choice, you could have move somewhere tropical but alas, you weren't exactly a full functioning adult yet despite turning 18. You have a lot of things to deal with but for now all of it are far back from your mind. You have to go to safety first.
You were too caught up with you thoughts that you didn't noticed you already passed the “Welcome to Hawkins” sign though what stuck in your mind is what you felt. The feeling of something pulling on the pit of your stomach and a shiver down your spine. Though you supposed, it was just a breeze but you should have known. You forgot that it was the same feeling you had before. Instead you shrugged it off and tried to remember the route to your Uncle's house.
After all, you weren’t really someone who relied on your feelings. You already learned your lessons. Besides, aren't you determined to put everything behind?
Well, you might have jinxed it but hey that is future you problem.
You slowed down once you reached the familiar road. You just knew it was the right street, judging by the more groomed houses and white picket fences. The familiar road that you usually ride your bike with your cousin back when you and your parents still lived here. You were suddenly struck by a sense of nostalgia.
Though you also remembered that things you hated about this side of the town. You forgot how stifling it is as you watched nosy housewives coming out of their houses. (Probably bothered by the noise you are making.) Then those picture perfect houses that is a home to town drama and gossip or sins that cannot be mentioned inside the church. People classified as an upper class is here, which your family belonged to before your mom went off with a richer husband and your dad took the job at Utah. When things went– no, you are not going there.
You took a deep breath as you ignored the stares and proceeded to slow down right in front of a house. It was still the same, it must have been maintained the way it is for the past seven years you are gone. You doubled checked at the mail box and your surname is still written on it. You parked your motorbike right at what looks to be the driveway. Just behind a maroon BMW. You revved up the bike one last time as you parked and you made sure it was loud enough to alert the people inside. As soon as you removed your helmet, a familiar voice called out your name.
You turned your head just in time to see Steve Harrington standing at the door with his hands on his hips and a cheeky smirk. Your brows raised a bit as you took in his appearance after years of not seeing each other.
You expected him to grow tall, you just did not expect the hair. It looks eerily familiar yet not as you stared.
“What happened to your hair Steve?” You asked as you finally moved off the bike. He rolled his eyes as he walked towards you.
“What happened to your height? Growth spurt did not come?” He retorted back. You glared at him as you placed the helmet on the seat. You clicked your tongue at the roof of your mouth as you regard him.
“Jerk,” you told him as you glared with your arms crossed. He finally stopped in front of you as he put his hands back on his hips.
“Squirt,” He retorted back. The two of you glared at each other but then his lips started to twitch trying to maintain the glory. Though, you both didn't last long as he broke into a smile and you reciprocated. The both of you laughed, breaking staring contest and went into an embrace.
“It's good to have you back Squirt,” He mumbled the nickname against the crown of your head while your arms went around his waist. You sighed as you felt the tension in your body melt away as you buried your face on his chest. You felt him hold you a little tighter too as you did that.
“It's good to be back Jerk,” You closed your eyes as you let yourself settle against Steve. Hawkins might be boring but the one thing you are willing to come back here for is your one and only cousin. Steve was the older brother you never had, despite being the same age. Memories of the both of you up to no good back at middle school came into mind. You relished into it. Utah going to back of your mind.
“Oh come on now, don’t hog your cousin to yourself Steve,” a deep voice said right behind Steve. You let go of your cousin and leaned to the side to see Uncle Harold standing there with a soft smile. His arms open. “Can’t I have a hug from my favorite niece?”
“I’m your only niece Uncle Harold,” you told him as you walked over to him and into his arms. Despite seeing him almost two weeks ago for your father’s funeral, it's good to finally have him back around. He was the only one who was able to go to Utah to help with the arrangements. Of course, he was devastated to know that his twin brother died. He even told you that he was having an off month for a while and had wanted to visit his brother and you but decided to put it off. Though it was really a good thing he didn't come a month early.
You were thankful of his help and his presence. Despite turning a legal adult in Utah, you are still not capable on arranging things for your father. Harold was the one who managed all the funeral arrangements. Though he had to leave you a day after burying your father to arrange things back at Hawkins for your move.
It was a good thing he left, if he stayed a few more days. He would be with you to suffer the shit show that was Utah and with the sudden memory of what happened. You held on him a bit tighter which your Uncle felt as he tightened his hold back on you.
Thinking that you might still be hung up on your father’s death.
“You’re okay now. You are with us. We’ll take care of you pumpkin,” He mumbled against the crown of your head. You just nodded and after a few moments, you let him go. You gave him a smile as he ruffled your hair. “Your things haven’t arrived yet but they will be here tomorrow. Steve will be helping you in properly moving in.”
With that Steve groaned as he walked over to the both of you. “But Dad, I have a thing with Nancy on–”
You turned to him with a raised brow at the familiar name. “Wheeler?” You asked and Steve bashfully smiled at you. You can’t help but smirk. “Now you are going to need to tell me why she settled for a jerk like you,” you mused and Steve’s smile melted as he glared at you.
“Shut up,” Steve just supplied as he turned to his dad. “Dad, I have a thing with Nancy–”
“Which you will reschedule. Pumpkin has to move in so that she would be ready for Monday. She has a lot to catch up to since the school year already started,” Harold supplied as he started to usher you inside the house. “Besides, your cousin needs you more than Nancy. She would understand,”
Steve remained outside as he glared at you while you just looked over at him with a teasing smile. He offered a sneer at you, something that made you laugh at him.
“Okay, I'll just have to call her then,” He mumbled but before he could take one step you stopped him.
"What is it?" He asked but then you smirked at him as you looked over his shoulder towards your bike. He followed your gaze towards the bike.
“Why don’t you start helping me by getting my helmet and taking those satchels off my bike,” You told him with a sweet smile. Steve huffed as he looked back at you. You continue to flutter your eyelashes at him as if you are that cartoon you often see in the TVs. That Bessy---Betty? It was effective since Steve's face softened and he looked back at you fondly.
“I missed you Squirt,” he told you as he walked over to your bike.
“I missed you too Steve,” you called out to him as you waited for him at the front of the house. You even scolded him a bit as he fumbled with the loops on your satchels. Harold already entered as he called out to Aunt Miriam who is probably on the phone. That is the only thing you know that would keep her away from welcoming guests and some things never really change.
Steve walked back with your helmet and the satchels. You offered your thanks as you took the helmet out of his hands.
“I’m sorry though for the cockblock,” You added and that made Steve sputter at the vulgar term. Nearly tripped over his shoes.
“What the hell?” He looked at you as you looked at him surprised by his reaction. Wondered if you read what he said wrong.
“Isn’t that–”
“No! I–I mean. I just– what the fuck?” Steve supplied and you laughed this time. As you did, you hissed as the cut on your lip stretched out. Steve looked at you with concern and finally noticed that cut on it.
“What happened?” He asked but you just quickly shook your head. You moved head away from him a bit as you pursed your lips. back into your mouth.
“I tripped while packing up. It's nothing, just my usual clumsiness.” You supplied as you run your tongue over it. Steve looked down at it and nodded.
“Anyway, you just shocked me with your words and no, the thing is I'm not getting some. Me and Nancy are going on a real date,” He told you as you both walked inside the house. Though it doesn’t sound like that to your ears.
“Sureeee” you said as you dragged the last syllable of the word and made a face. Steve turned to look at you and just shook his head.
“Since I am rescheduling it and I would be spending my weekend with you might as well be the proper welcoming committee,” he said, completely changing the subject. “I’ll start with a warning. You are a new thing so people would probably treating you like the shiny little thing the minute you set foot in school on Monday,”
You groaned at that already hating the possible attention. Really, you had enough of that but the attention you got from Utah was far from being a shiny new toy. You'll deal with it but it doesn't mean you won't complain. They would lose interest once they learned how much of a fuck up you are.
“Great," You dragged the last syllable again this time in disdain. "Can’t you do something about it? As I remembered from Uncle Harold’s story that you are doing good in school,” You said air quoting the words doing good. Steve continued to lead you towards the stairs and guided you to where your room is supposed to be.
Steve had this disturbed expression on his face as he turned towards you. Then he continued to walk towards the end of the hallway.
“What is doing good supposed to mean to you?” He asked as he opened the door. You ignored the question in favor on looking around the empty room before stepping inside the room. You did another quick survey of it before you turned towards him.
“One look at the picture Uncle has on you, I just knew you are walking the halls like a king,” you said as you looked at his outfit. Steve looked down on himself, pretty confused. “So, doing good is my tamer version of being an asshole king of the school. That's what we call them back-there,” You pointed behind you not wanting to mention the place. Or you just can't say it out loud?
“That is pretty insulting,” Steve mumbled as he finally processed your words. You snickered as you placed your helmet on the study table. “But, I’ll take being King of Hawkins high as a compliment and no. I can’t do anything for you, Squirt. I was dethroned,”
You looked at him shocked. “Dethroned?”
“There is also a new guy in school. Billy Hargrove. Real asshole and a playboy,” Steve as he looked over at you his face going through series of emotion as he those words until it settled on stern. “He might be coming after you too now that I mentioned him.” He suddenly shook his head furiously. “No! No! Not the image I wanted gosh. Just promise me you will stay away from him?”
You just watched Steve and quite bothered that he would think that you would entertain that kind of guy. There are not worth your time. Instead you said, “So much for your help Jerk.”
“Well, it also doesn’t help that you are riding a motorcycle. Most kids here have cars. So you just have to deal with the attention,” He supplied. You sighed.
“Motorcycles are more cost effective,” You just reasoned at him disgruntled at how they view the most genius piece of transportation machine. You turned to look over the window. It faces the backyard and looking slightly to the left you could clearly see the pool. “I forgot you have a pool,” You observed.
Steve walked forward to stand beside you as he looked over the window and he winced. You raised a brow at that before he turned around to face you instead. “By the way, there is a party me and Nancy are going to. You can come with us if that is your–”
“If there is free booze, I’ll come.” You told him as you felt the obvious topic change about the pool. You don’t know why he reacted like that but you aren’t privy with it. You turned away as you started to rummage around your satchels. You pulled out some small pouches and clothes you bought with you. Enough until your things finally arrived from Utah.
“Halloween night of course,” Steve and you nodded but then you scrunched your nose as you faced him.
“Is it a costume party?” You asked already backtracking and Steve quickly shook his head.
“No, just a party at Tina’s. Just a few blocks from here,”
You nodded as you moved towards the door you assumed was the bathroom to put your toiletries.
“Okay as long as this Tina girl offers free booze. Count me in.” you told him as you organized everything. You heard him move behind and you thought he was starting to leave. You turned to say your goodbye but then he is standing at the entrance of the bathroom with a solemn look on his face. You knew that expression. It was the same face everybody at the funeral sported.
Pity. You hated that.
“I’m sorry about what happened with Uncle Nate,” He mumbled and you just nodded as you moved past him. You didn’t bother to reply as you started to fold your clothes properly. You don’t know what to say anyway.
“Are you okay?” Steve asked softly as you heard him move until he was seated on the bed right in front of you. You paused at your task before taking a deep breath.
No. “Yes. I’m okay, why did you ask?”
Steve mumbled your name, “Dad told me what happened at Utah,” He started. You nearly froze at that. He knew about what happened— “How Uncle Nate died because of the poisoning in the lab he worked at.” You nearly sighed with relief at that but you held it in as you continued doing your tasks. That was bullshit but it was the only good enough reason.
“Papa knew what he was into when he accepted that job.” You told him as you moved to put the pair of sleeping shorts you brought and underwear you bought with you. “I knew someday his work would kill him. Just not expecting it to be right now,” If not with the job maybe with the hands of— no stop that.
“Still, I should have been there with you in Utah,” Steve supplied. You stopped as you looked over at him. You put down your shirt and walked over to where he was seated and sat down beside him.
“I’m okay. I promise. Don’t beat yourself up about it. Okay?” You told him and he nodded. "Besides, I'm here now and I really want to borrow myself here in Hawkins. I want something boring. I knew Hawkins had plenty of that.” He muttered something under his breath, though you caught up some of it. Monsters and girls with powers? You didn’t bother to ask anything about it. You just want the conversation to end. You patted him on the shoulder before you moved back towards your clothes.
“Now I want you out. I need to change,” You told him and Steve nodded as he stood up.
“I’ll leave you to it. I’ll call you when dinner is ready,” He said and you put an okay sign to him. You heard him move towards the door of your room as you were busy folding your shirt. You heard him stop right before the door and you turned to see him again looking back at you. This time with a soft smile.
“By the way, Welcome back to Hawkins,”
Yeah, it's good to be back.

PART Three | PART Four | SERIES MASTERLIST
Will be posted in Ao3 soon!
After Eleven managed to close the gate, you and the rest of the kids gathered back to the Byers house and eventually towards the new Hopper residence in the middle of the woods.
In the span of a month, you built a bond with the kids as you helped in fixing things up in both residences. You also managed to meet El. During those times, the talking later never happened between the three of you. Well, Steve is busy curing his wounds both physically and emotionally. (“It’s not a phase anymore is it?” “Yeah, squirt. She called it,” “Well, better luck next time, Jerk,”). While you and Eddie, kind of dance around one another. Going on the same routine, meeting up every Wednesday at the lake and Friday’s for the campaign. Though the dynamics between the two of you changed, something Gareth and Jeff the ever observant sophomores noticed. You and Eddie didn’t even confirm or deny everything when they questioned you individually because you haven’t exactly talked about it yet.
Though Eddie did try, you swiftly change the subject and metal head gets the que. Luckily, despite Eddie’s obvious temperament as he wants things to be done rather quickly. He didn’t chastise you. You’ll tell when you are ready or you get over the initial mortification that is Eddie witnessing your first flashback. (So far, you haven’t had any, thank God)
Instead of dealing with those, you offered your help to the other kids. You grew closer to them, especially Max who you decided to take under your wing. You became her escape when Billy or anything under her house gets too much. You opened your doors to them much to Steve’s annoyance. (“You still love having them around Steve, admit it.” “Give me another month and I’ll decide,” “Whatever makes your sleep at night,”)
The next thing you know, you got thrown into the committee of highschoolers that handles the Snow Ball for the middle schoolers. It wasn’t exactly your type of thing but it teaches you how not to be late again in Ms. O’donell’s class twice in a row. Causing you to miss your Wednesday’s with Eddie twice too.
Well, you didn’t have to explain. He knows that, because he was there when Ms. O’donell delivered the blow but regardless. You were quite thankful for it. The inevitable talk of your feelings regarding the metal head is postponed.
Now you just need to get through your head. We hope you had more time though but someone has the tendency to throw a wrench into your plans. It's no other than Billy FUCKING Hargrove. After the incident in the Byers house, Max told you that Billy is pissed off more than ever to everyone and especially both you and Steve. He was itching for a fight and always provoked Steve but Steve who finally broke apart with his friend group didn’t bite on it.
Just landing on ignoring the bully and going on his merry way. The same treatment is given to you, making the Hellfire club members especially Eddie (Despite the unspeakable topic that looms over the both of you) was extra protective. Though you assured them that Billy is more bark than bite when it comes to girls.
You should have learned your lesson when he easily slammed your body down on the floor causing a flashback. Though, you were at ease because it was school and Billy doesn’t want to get into trouble. Doesn’t he?
Well, you learned that in a very hard way.
You volunteered to finish up with the designs. It was the last week of November and there is one week before the SnowBall and the official start of the Winter Break. The committee which is not surprisingly led by Nancy Wheeler wants to get ahead of everything. Including the decorations and since you made it clear that you would not spend your Friday night in a ball as a chaperone. You opted to help with the decors and preparations.
You wanted to finish it as soon as possible since you are itching to finally talk to Eddie because you miss the metal head. You always felt like he was too far from you despite being there. You volunteered to finish up not knowing that there is someone lurking around you waiting a chance to make a move on you.
Not the move you wanted and not the person you want to make a move on you.
“Ahhh. If it isn’t the Harrington Bitch,” When you hear his voice echoing through the room, you can’t help but sigh. You stopped for a moment before shaking your head to continue what you are doing. You really don’t want to give Billy Hargrove a time of day. “You’re not going to acknowledge me?”
You remained silent but you did move out of your chair and around the table. Subtly putting distance between the two of you and so that you will be able to see him.
“Seriously, silent treatment? I never thought you could shut that mouth of yours,” Billy snarled and that made you look up at him with an exhausted expression.
“What do you want, Hargrove?” You asked him as you laid your hands over the table. Billy walked— no more like stalked towards you as he slammed his hands against the table. You jumped as you took a step back from him. Seeing your reaction, Billy’s face lit up as he smirked at you.
“I told you I’ll deal with you and your cousin later. This is me wanting my due,” He told you and that made you clench your fist. Forcing yourself to calm down.
“What are you going to do? Beat me up?” You asked him as you tried to move slowly around the table enough for you to dash past him and out of the room. Thank God you are wearing your jeans and sneakers. You would just get your leather jacket and helmet tomorrow. Right now, you need to escape Billy Hargrove.
Billy looks like he isn’t getting your plan though his eyes raked over your body very slowly making you shudder in disgust. That look is so damn familiar. Fuck. No flashbacks please. Not fucking now.
“I have other ways to ask for payment,” He said as he turned to look over at you again before he landed back on your eyes. “I think we just need to fuck out our differences. You know,” He offered and that made you laugh at him. Making sure that the mocking is there.
“Fuck it out? You are a cocky asshole. Do you think that my hatred for you is what? Sexual tension?” You told him, the mocking tone heavy on your voice as you moved slowly around until you stood still. Two chairs are between the both of you and you just need to find the right timing to run. “Well, you have to wake up Hargrove. Not every girl wants you and not every girl wants to be in your pants. Besides, you wouldn’t be able to handle me,”
Billy snorted at that. “I cannot handle you? I remember, I handled you just fine back at that house. You tiny little thing,” He looked over at you. His eyes darkened a bit. “I could easily pin you down and do anything I want.”
You shuddered at the image and twisted your face in disgust.
“You are all bark but no bite, Billy. Now it just makes me think that you're overcompensating on something that isn’t there at all huh?” You told him as you readied yourself to run as you finally were able to release the fuel you accumulated about him through the months. “What do the housewives you seduced say? Did they come back for more or are they just as disappointed as Mrs. Whedon?”
Then you ran. “You little bitch— come here!”
You tried to out run him but you are no match to a nearly six footer basketball player. You are no athlete and you never really qualify for track. Your gait is also short because of your height but you hoped that the surprise is enough advantage.
You're so wrong.
You were merely out of the room before you felt a hand on your arm and the next thing you know you are slammed against the wall. You will yourself to focus on the adrenaline and the flashes of memories trying to seep in. You fought Billy back. Using the strength you had for years of riding a bike that is heavier than you and wielding wooden swords at the Dojo back at the Shit Show.
“You fucking bitch, let’s see if you are going to be fucking disappointed.” he said as he pinned you down and the next thing you know lips are on you. You are no virgin and you already had a lot of encounters with guys but usually it was on your own terms. This is not it and the moment that Billy’s lips touch yours. The image shifted again and this time you are back at the floor of that apartment. Bleeding and struggling as you find the way to topple the guy off you.
He was already halfway through your blouse. The knife he was using was sharp as you felt it knick you a couple of times but you remained to struggle. Despite the sharpness of it and the fear of being slashed. Your will to escape is greater.
“Please stop! Let me go! I don’t know anything at all!”
The man laughed as he continued to cut through your blouse. He is on the last three buttons that lay across your stomach.
“Look at you! So pretty!” He exclaimed as he stopped and examined you. He ran his knife on your stomach, the blunt side before he leaned down. You looked at the side as tears fell from your eyes. Your hands are pinned down by the other man as he laughed at the scene.
“We will surely enjoy this! If you won’t talk maybe we can use your mouth for something else,”
Then you felt him move a bit down and felt his crotch touch your knee. You felt his knife going through the last three buttons.
“You are ours to—”
The image was abruptly changed as you felt arms enveloping you from behind. Familiar leather clad ones as you were rocked back and forth. Your name murmured to your ear as your cries died. Your vision blurry because of the tears but eventually cleared as your cries quiet out.
“That’s it sweetheart. Come back to me baby. I got you, you're safe.” Eddie mumbled as he continued to rock you back and forth. You blinked trying to gather yourself as you willed the images to disappear. You leaned your head against Eddie who stopped his rocking momentarily and leaned against you too.
“You’re okay sweetheart. Are you back to me now?” Eddie asked as you slowly nodded. “Okay, now I need you to breathe with me– that’s good– in and out. Just like that. Breathe with me.”
You didn’t notice you were struggling with your breath but as soon as he said it. You gasped and desperately tried to follow Eddie’s breathing. Though you heard a sound of struggling and turned just in time to see Steve picking up an object and slammed it against Billy’s face. Rendering him unconscious though you didn’t manage to see more as Eddie moved until you were facing him. His eyes trained on you.
“Eyes on me only. I need you to breathe with me again. In and out,” Finally it latched on as you followed every inhale and exhale. You didn’t know how long you and him sat there just breathing until you felt exhaustion taking over you as you slumped inside Eddie’s arms. Though you tried to fight it, everything is just heavy on you.
“I’m calling Hopper,” an unfamiliar voice said. A voice that is not Steve’s or Eddie’s since you have ingrained their voices. “I would like to take her out of the scene but if this is assault–”
“She needs to be here,” this time you knew it was Steve’s voice that said that. “Fuck, we should let her rest though. You can give her to me Eddie, I’ll take her—”
As soon as you heard that, your body instinctively borrowed itself to Eddie and the next thing you know you are whining no as you turned in his arms. You wrapped your arms around him and locked yourself against him.
“I got her, just got some blankets. We need to lay her down in something warm and soft,”
“I’ll get that,” another unfamiliar voice said before you heard shuffling feet. You tried to open your eyes, which you didn’t know you closed but it just won’t cooperate.
“Hey, you don’t need to stay awake,” It was Steve who spoke again. He had grown closer to you as you felt a hand running through your hair. While another is running against your back. “You can rest. We got you now Squirt,”
You didn’t know that was the words you needed to hear as the heaviness became ten fold and you felt safe. Then everything went black.
The next time you wake up, you are inside an office and laid down on a sofa. It was night and the reason you have woken up is the raised voices you hear.
“Please! Don’t call my dad. I beg you–” That sounded like Billy.
“Now you come begging? You fucking assaulted my cousin you fucking asshole!” It was Steve who shouted. You heard some shuffling and muffled voices. You urged yourself
“It wasn’t intentional. I got too angry. She-she– provoked—”
“Don’t you fucking say it!” A voice so shrill made you finally sit up. You knew it was Eddie who spoke up this time. You looked around trying to find them. “Don’t you dare say she fucking provoke you hargrove. She hated your fucking guts!”
“Okay now- you boys chill it out,” It was Hopper who finally spoke up. You carefully stood up as you still feel like your limbs have weights on them. Your eyes looked around until it landed over a window. There you see Steve, Eddie, Hopper and Billy. Though what surprised you was Jonathan and Nancy standing on the side. Nancy glaring at Billy while Jonathan just looked at him in disdain.
Hopper was actually standing with his back on you while the others were actually facing you. You guessed that Hopper is obscuring their view of you. You will yourself to move, wanting to hear the conversation.
“Now you listen here shithead,” Hopper said as you saw him leaned forward as he got up to Billy’s face. “You can deny having your way with the girl but the bruises on her arms can be evidence enough for assault.”
You were already standing at that point and no one even noticed your movement as you watched and listened. Though at the mention of the bruises you looked and nearly gasped as the hand shaped bruises.
“She fucking asked for it,” Billy hissed and you can’t help but watch in shock as Steve and Eddie went for him. Hopper had Steve while Jonathan went for Eddie. Though Eddie being the closest managed to land a punch on him, careening Billy a bit off his seat.
“Let me the fuck go!”
“Let me punch him Jim!”
Both of them shouted. Billy, who was recovering from Eddie’s punch, wiped the corner of his mouth as he glared at them all.
“It doesn’t help if you fucking go at him–”
“That bitch freak saw it coming. The way she fucking provoked me all the damn time,” Billy continue to speak.
“I suggest you fucking shut up—”
“She fucking deserved that when she can’t keep her mouth—” Slam! You jumped as Billy got his head slammed against the table and then again for good measure. The four men stood shocked that same as you as you saw Nancy holding on to Billy’s hair. She did it again making Billy groan not caring that his nose had started to bleed.
“Nobody deserved that asshole,” Nancy seethed as she glared at him. Billy looks at her as his nose continues to bleed. “I know your life is fucked up but you don’t have the fucking right to fuck others,”
Nancy then finally looked up through the window. Her eyes widened. She called out your name and they finally looked at you. You stood there shaking. Eddie immediately moved and the next thing you know he is right in front of you taking your face in his hands gently. You looked up at him and met his eyes full of concern.
“Hey,” He greeted as you reached out and wrapped each of your hands on each of his wrists.
“What happened?” You asked as you looked over at him. He sighed before he carefully moved his hands so that he could wrap his arms around you. You willingly got to him. The movement was natural just like that night. You are drawn to him. You settled your head against his chest.
“You don’t remember anything?” He asked quietly.
“Bits and pieces,” you gave and Eddie sighed. You heard someone stepped inside the office too and you leaned back to look to see Steve standing there. He was sporting an unreadable expression for a moment before it settled with concern as he looked at you.
“Hey squirt,” he said and you gingerly let go of Eddie who let you as you rushed towards Steve. He readily opened his arms as you slammed against him. His arms automatically wrapped around you as he buried his head against your head. “You scared me there a little,” He murmured alongside your name.
You don’t know how long you had each wrapped up but the both of you are interrupted when Hopper came into the office with Nancy and Jonathan behin. You let go of Steve and as soon as you made contact with Nancy. You gave him a small smile which she returned.
“Okay kid, why don’t we all sit down,” Hopper said as he motioned for the sofa and the empty seats in his office. Steve let you go and guided you towards the sofa. Eddie sat beside you while Steve took the other side. Your hands automatically reached out for them. Though you opted to lean your head against Eddie’s shoulder which Steve didn’t mind since he has one of your hands in his.
Hopper shuffled some papers around before he pulled out one before taking up his pen, “I know you just woke up but I need your statement,”
You looked at him for a moment before you nodded.
“Okay, can you tell us what happened?” Hopper asked. You tightened your grip on Eddie and Steve trying to remember what happened before you had another flashback.
“Ummm, I was in the room trying to finish up the decoration for the upcoming Snowball. I volunteered because I wanted my next Wednesday free,” You quietly told them. You felt Eddie’s thumb start to draw circles over the back of the hand he is holding. You leaned further towards him but still not letting go of Steve.
“I thought I was alone but Billy showed up. Talking about paying back whatever the hell it is,” You shakily took a deep breath as you looked down not wanting to look at anyone by the next bit of your story. “I-I did provoke him but only to fluster him so that I could run out of there. I already have my keys to my bike. I just need to outrun him,”
“But he caught up to me. I was ready to fight him off but he caught up to me. The next thing I know, he had me backed up the wall and–and—” You stuttered as your mind went blank.
“H-he kissed– oh god,” You can’t help but say as you closed your eyes. “He kissed me and that is all I can remember,” you told them. Not wanting to tell anyone that you slipped into yet another panic attack, or they already knew that you guessed. They would have witnessed it when they caught you there. You just don’t want to voice it out hoping you wouldn’t receive any more questions about it.
Everybody was silent after that except the scratching of Hopper’s pen. You can’t help but burrow deeper into Eddie, seeking the safety he provides. Not that Steve doesn’t give that but you craved Eddie’s presence. Not being able to be with him properly during the weeks since the night about the secrets of Hawkins. You let go of Steve’s hand and fully leaned against Eddie. Eddie immediately lifted his arm to let your head rest against his chest while his other hand caressed your arms. You saw Steve looked over at the two of you with narrowed eyes before he just looked towards the chief of police as he spoke again directly to the other four.
“Now, you four tell me how you found them? What are you doing at school?”
“Me and Jonathan are there to check up on her. The committee members said they left her there. We were about to go there and help her when we met these two outside, arguing,” Nancy explained as she pointed towards Eddie and Steve.
That made you look at them two. They had a sheepish expression on their faces. Hopper just looked at them before he spoke again.
“Why are you two arguing outside the school?” He asked as Steve and Eddie looked at each other.
“I was there to check on her,” Eddie mumbled. “I knew she was doing that for detention and we have our daily outings during Wednesdays,” He offered. You looked over at him as Eddie looked down at you. “I missed you, so I brought some food for us. Hoping you are still there,”
You can’t help but wrap your arms tighter around Eddie.
“I was there to also check on her. After everything that happened, I got a bit paranoid being alone inside the house,” Steve explained his presence. “Me and Eddie kind of got into a bit of an argument.”
Hopper narrowed his eyes and he scanned the demeanor of the three of you. He has his own conclusion.
“I assume it's about the relationship between Munson and her,” Hopper said as he looked down at the paper on his hand and scribbled it down.
“Yes,” Steve and Eddie answered in unison. You however looked between the two of them.
“Do we have a relationship?” You can’t help but ask as you look over at Eddie. Whose eyes softened as he looked at you. He reached out to cup your cheek with his hand.
“If you’ll have me, sweetheart,” Eddie mumbled, you looked at him for a moment before you nodded as you leaned back against him. Steve just looked at the exchange horrified.
“We still have to talk after,” you mumbled against his chest as Eddie smiled widely as he wrapped you back in his arms again.
“It's a date,” he just said. You didn’t know what he did but Steve grunted at that.
“We are getting out of topic here. How did you guys find them?” Hopper said as he looked over at you.
“We heard a loud noise coming from inside.” Nancy explained. “Steve and Eddie immediately went inside running. Me and Jonathan right behind them. We thought its something about the upside down.”
“As we grew closer, we heard Billy and then,” Nancy looked over at you as you looked over at her before she mumbled your name. “Then, she was screaming. Steve was the first one to reach the room.”
Steve whose fist clenched at the memory of you. You were sure of that and that made you detangle yourself off Eddie to comfort your cousin. Who opened up his arms for you as he held you this time.
“What did you see Steve?” Hopper asked.
Steve tightened his hold of you before he started speaking. “Billy was on top of her, kissing her and she was just thrashing around. When I saw that I just saw red and threw him off her.”
Everybody was quiet as Steve gathered himself. “I was angry and mortified because even after I took Billy off her she kept thrashing around. As if she is still fighting someone off,” Steve then looked down at you. You looked away not daring to look back because you just knew you would crumble.
“Then I came in,” Eddie said. “I already recognize that she is having another panic attack–”
“Another?” Steve asked but Eddie just shook his head pleading him not to speak. You felt Steve pull you closer with that.
“Instead of helping Steve, I went to her. Wrapped her in a hold and tried to coax her back. She already had bruised arms at that time.”
“Then me and Jonathan saw the scene, just in time for Steve to knock Billy out and for her cries to die down,” Nancy said.
Hopper nodded as he finally put down all their statements. Then he stood up towards a drawer and pulled out a camera. He gave it to Jonathan.
“We need pictures to file on a case—”
“Is he going to jail?” you spoke up suddenly as Hopper looked at you while Jonathan took it.
“I’ll detain him for now but I will be filing a case in Juvenile court. He’s still 17,” Hopper said as he looked at where Billy is nursing his bleeding nose and bruised face. “But I’ll be calling his parents and Steve’s to discuss the situation—”
“I don’t want to file a case,” You interjected . Steve and Eddie protested at that.
“No way, Squirt. We are filing that case.”
“You can’t just let him go like that?!”
“Detain, make him do community service. I don’t want him to end up in jail,” You told them as you looked around the people in the room.
“Why, sweetheart? He triggered your panic attack again” Eddie said as you looked at him.
“I know, but he can learn his lesson in a different way,” You told them. The image of Max came into your mind now that you are starting to think a bit more clearly. “I provoked him in that room. He was offering me sex and I threw something at him that engraged him. I knew Billy was ticking time bomb of anger.”
You glanced towards the window to look at him but he was already looking at you. Steve and Eddie noticed that and tried to shield you away but you refused. Despite the horrible flashbacks he forced on you. You knew Max and the situation of her house. How despite Billy being an asshole and totally misguided. He was the only thing that became a buffer for Niel and that is something that should be dealt with.
“I’ll probably regret this later but he deserves the help he needs,” You told them as Billy finally looked away from you. You turned to them. “And I just want this night to be over. I just want to rest,”
Hopper, who was quiet, nodded. “I still need to file this and have a case kid,” he told you and you nodded. “But I’ll see what I can do to not send him completely to Jail. I should contact—”
“No,” you stopped him as you looked at Steve. “I don’t want Uncle Harold to know about this not now please,”
Steve looks like he wants to argue but he just sighed in defeat and nodded. “Your choice kid, you’re already 18 right?” You nodded at that. “Okay, I'll detain you and it's best to have Jonathan go with your bruises then you guys can go.”
Jonathan gingerly stood up and walked over to you. “This will be quick,” he murmured quietly. You nodded as you lifted your arm. It trembled a bit and it was heavier than usual but held it up as still as you could. Jonathan took a few photos before he lowered it down.
“You have a bruise on your face too,” He murmured and you just nodded. Closing your eyes as he took another set. “Anywhere else?”
You felt your body and winced when you tried to move your back. “I-I think my back has some,” you murmured.
“Ummm, are you okay to lift—”
Without thinking about anything else, you lifted your shirt up. Everybody scrambled suddenly at your movement. Steve and Eddie stood side by side and turned around while Nancy hurriedly shut the blinds off. Hopper stepped outside, probably taking Billy’s side of the story. Jonathan was looking away.
You removed and turned your back to Jonathan, leaving you in your modest bra. You didn’t even register what you were doing. You just want it to be over and done with. In that moment, you forgot what you were trying to hide for everyone.
“You can take a picture, it's okay.” You told Jonathan as you clutched on the back of the sofa. You don’t know who gasped loud, you never knew who it was. You were too tired and worn to think about it as you heard Jonathan click the camera.
“D-do you have something on your front—” You turned a bit, though when the room became incredibly quiet. You suddenly opened your eyes and gasped. Your hand instinctively covers your stomach. You looked and saw that Eddie and Steve were frozen on the spot. Their eyes wide as it's trained on your now covered stomach.
Jonathan, who probably saw it too, has his eyes trained on Nancy while the girl has her hands covering her mouth.
Shit. They saw the scars.
Steve called out your name and slowly you opened your eyes to stare at him. “Where did you get those scars?” He asked.
“S-steve,”
“Where did you get it?” He asked, his eyes glossing over as he looked at you. “I-Is that what happened back in—” He stopped his eyes darkening. He made the same face when you talked about not running away in the forest but this time it was accompanied by anger. Fuck.
Steve called your name, your complete name and that made you start to shake. Your tremble probably prompted Eddie to finally move. He carefully moved towards you. His eyes were full of concern.
“Sweetheart,” He mumbled as he grew closer. Your vision started to blur as tears flooded your eyes.
This isn’t happening. This is not how you want them to know about this. You don’t like the way this is fucking unfolding. Fuck. Fuck.
“I-I’m sorry,” You forced out as you shook your head and looked at Steve.
“P-please d-don’t tell me Uncle Nate– FUCK!” Steve exclaimed as he clutched on his head. “Is this the reason why your move to Hawkins got delayed? Is this the reason why you won’t tell me anything about Utah?”
You just continue to shake your head and cry. Eddie finally reached you and once his arms went around you. You flinched and backed away. Eddie jumped and a flash of hurt came across his face before it was gone.
“S-Steve please, n-not now. N-not today–”
“What happened?! What are you not telling me?”
“Steve! I don’t think this is the best time to berate your cousin,” Eddie finally spoke as he glared at the guy.
“B-but”
“I’ll tell you when I can” You spoke out as you looked at Steve. “I-I just want to rest for now. Please?” You pleadingly look at him.
Steve closed his eyes as he ran a hand through his face. “I’m sorry.” He quietly said before he looked over at you.” Y-yeah, I’m sorry. I-I just need–” He suddenly walked out of there and you finally broke down crying.
Eddie moved to take you in his arms and this time you let him as you buried your face against his neck. You didn’t know how long you were there in his arms until you felt him move you to get your shirt back to your body. Then he made you wear his leather jacket, leaving him on his hellfire shirt. You slipped your arms through the jacket and it was too big on you. The sleeves went over your hands but that’s okay. You inhaled his scent and for the second time that night. Your body felt heavy and without another thought in your head. You welcomed the darkness this time.
Hopper made sure that what happened with Billy and you remained under wraps. Billy’s parents were informed that he got into a fight and managed to hurt you a bit. Luckily Steve has bruises to show that he did try to defend you. Uncle Harold was beyond pissed when he learned of the fight.
Though you placate him, telling him that you are fine. You are not. That Hopper would be taking care of it. Fortunately, despite Uncle Harold’s insistence of handling what happened. He was only able to come home for one day before flying out again. A business trip he cannot miss but he made sure that Steve and you are stocked until Christmas and until they manage to come home.
After that night of incident, you and Steve are walking on eggshells. You both agreed that it was better for you to recover at least enough to take the exams before the winter break hits. Before the two of you finally talked.
Of course, during this time, Eddie suddenly became yours and Steve’s mediator. You might be too fucked up in talking about the shit show but talking about you and Eddie. That is something you are sure of. There is not much to talk about, nothing will change except that every touch and comfort is something more than friends do.
The two of you haven’t really kissed or gone on a date yet. You can’t seem to enjoy it knowing that the talk with Steve is looming for the both of you. Also, Eddie wants to know what really happened to you as he witnessed two of your panic attacks and two of them he helped bring you back.
He became your rock. He didn’t ask questions for the whole duration that he was with you when you recovered. He was just there, offering his warmth and affection to you.
Though you knew, the inevitable will come and you are absolutely terrified.
Terrified that when you tell them what happened back there might change their view of you. They might realized that despite the strong facade you're fronting, you are more fucked up than they realize. What if they didn’t want anything to do with you? What if Steve would always look at you out of pity? What if Eddie decided that he doesn’t need another fucked up thing in his life?
That rolled around your head for days as you waited for the impending talk. You never voiced it out. Out of fear that it would come true. Then without even doing that, the day came.
It came two days before Christmas. The case against Billy came to head as it was quickly processed in the city hall as Hopper knew the mayor personally. They wanted a sentence before Christmas came. He was sentenced to an anger management course right at Hawkins General while doing a total of 78 days of community service starting a month before the school ends. He is also going to be under probation and at all means should stay away from you until further notice.
It was Steve who delivered the news once it was over. Uncle Harold had cuddled you up while Aunt Miriam tried to console you. Though, the two of them need to leave again for another business trip. Bringing another slightly sad news that you will be spending your first Christmas in Hawkins without them.
Though it was a good thing that you and Steve are left alone. You wouldn’t want them to hear what you are about to tell Steve. You also decided it was best to have Eddie there. He deserves to hear too after witnessing two of your breakdowns.
So there you were with Eddie by your side, his arms bringing you the support you needed. Steve was sitting there looking everywhere but you as silence enveloped the living room. You didn’t know how to start and sure as hell knew that you wouldn’t be able to tell everything without any liquid courage.
“Why do we pull out Uncle’s hidden whiskey, yeah?” You spoke, breaking the silence. Steve finally looked over at you with a raised brow.
“I thought you hate fancy drinks like that?” Steve mused as he moved, getting it anyway as he knew he needed something to do.
You nodded. “Still hate it but I think we all three need something stronger,” you told him and he nodded. He excused himself towards his dad’s office leaving you and Eddie. You picked on your nails as you waited anxiously. Eddie must have noticed because the next thing you know. A big hand enveloped almost both of yours. Stilling your hands on doing further damage while the other wrapped itself around your shoulders.
You felt his lips land on your temple and stayed there as you closed your eyes and leaned to him.
“You got this,” Eddie mumbled against your temple as you nodded. “Steve, he might be a bit dramatic–”
“Oh, I know that,” you can’t help but say and that made Eddie chuckle.
“But he is a decent guy. He might be a jerk and asshole most of the time but he’s your cousin. He’s family. Whatever you say to him, it will be okay,” Eddie mumbled. You nodded but then you pulled away as you looked back at him.
“What about you?” You can’t help but ask. You hesitated as you looked at him. “What you will hear today, you might not want anything to do with me after,” You finally voice out the fear that nagged your head and made you terrified. Though the moment it went out of your mouth, Eddie looked back at you with pure adoration. Something you didn’t expect from him, not after what you said.
“Nothing can make me go away from you. Okay?” Eddie reverently told you as he reached out to hold your head with both of his hands. His brown doe eyes stared straight at yours as he spoke again. This time, quietly. “Whatever you say, it won’t change the fact that I am completely taken by you sweetheart. Hell, I even stayed by your side trying to be a hero when I’m not even close to it.”
You can’t help but hold on to his hand as he spoke. “Whatever it is, I will be right by your side when you face it. Okay?”
You nodded as he leaned down and placed a kiss on your forehead. The two of you pulled away from each other just in time for Steve to enter the living room with three glasses and the bottle of whiskey. You looked at him to see an unreadable expression on his face but once he looked at you. His gaze softened.
“Here,” He said as he poured you some. You took it, not waiting for the other to have their drinks. You downed it one go, relishing the burn as you winced. Then you can’t help but stare at the glass as you wait for the other two to settle down.
“Hey,” Steve called out your name. You looked back up at him as he looked at you still with a softened gaze. “Whenever you ready,”
You took a deep breath before you looked over at Eddie who just finished taking a sip on his glass. He nodded in his head at your encouragement. With one final nod, you looked over at Steve.
“Whatever you know about my father through Uncle Harold is complete utter bullshit,” You started and bit your lip as you continued. “Papa didn’t die because of a poisoning in the labs he worked at—” you trailed off as you looked over at Eddie and then Steve before delivering what could possibly open the floodgates of memory.

If it does, this is purely coincidence since the story is fictional. Please reblog and tell me what you think about it through the comics. My ask is currently not available. I don't even know why.
PART Four | PART Five | SERIES Masterlist
After you told them those words, Steve and Eddie’s eyes widened and you knew you rendered them speechless. So instead you jumped in telling them what you’ve been trying to forget.
You knew the moment that the phone rang in the middle of the night, you knew it was a call you wouldn’t like. But you answered it anyway and really, you weren’t shocked about your father’s death. You saw it coming.
The moment you and him set foot to Utah, he was a dead man walking. Emotionally and sooner you knew it would manifest physically. It did as you listened to the sympathetic voice of your father’s supervisor in the Utah Labs.
Though what shocked you was the reason behind. Poisoning? You call bullshit. Your father is a fucking neat freak. Something you picked up on regretfully as the years progressed. He is also a fucking genius chemist. He knows how to fucking mix chemicals even when half asleep. You just knew there was something more. Though, you tried to decide if you would want to dwell on it or not.
You had your suspicions when he insisted on having his “home office” in an apartment building that he never told you where it was. You never asked, you don’t want to deal with it. After all, he doesn’t want to deal with you after what your mother did. You thought that if he kept everything about his work a secret or whatever your father is involved with in his work. He doesn’t want you on it.
Well, what a twisted way to protect you. Not being present to any life events. Barely even there even when you bought your bike at 16 with the money he always gives you without fail during your birthday.
You knew something did not sit well but you accepted it. You accept the protection your father gave you and for that you are grateful. You loved him, he’s your father after all but you knew he wasn’t a good one to you.
A few days later, your Uncle Harold flew out alone to help you with the funeral arrangements and everything else. You were hoping Steve would be there. Someone you can find comfort in, but unfortunately, or rather fortunately. He didn’t come. It was for the better.
You just turned 18 that time, making you eligible in handling your finances now that you are in legal age. Your father left a will and left everything of his possession to you. You didn’t think of it until the night before the final day of the funeral. You saw that you also inherited the apartment building where his home office was. You decided not to mention it to anyone. Big mistake though.
The day of the funeral, you were set to move out of Utah to Hawkins three days from the day you buried your father. You wanted to go as soon as possible but your Uncle Harold would have to fly out after the funeral. You had to stay to see to it that your belongings will be shipped to Hawkins the next day then two days later after finishing loose ends. You’ll leave just in time to continue your senior at Hawkins High.
It was a good plan, giving you time to say goodbye to your friends.
So you let the funeral run by and try no to wince every time people looked at you with pity. Yes, your father might have died but there is no reason to pity you. It's still not the end of the world. You also bid goodbye to your Uncle Harold the same day.
Though as soon as he disappeared from your sight, you felt a shiver down your spine. As if your gut sensed something bad is going to happen. You choked it up by burying your father six feet underground. You should have listened.
The next day, you were supposed to meet with the movers but decided to go to the hangout den your friends go to before you met them. You drank with them and played your final D and D game before saying your final goodbyes. You left when they informed you that they are five minutes out.
You thought you could catch up to them, though as you cruised along the road you noticed a black van following you around. You already saw the earlier on thinking it was just coincidence but seeing it again. The familia shiver you felt the day before you came.
You watched horror movies or even thriller action ones. You know what would be the outcome if you try to mislead them but you were hoping you know the streets of Utah more than them. You’re wrong. God, how stupid you were to make decisions back then.
You led them on an unknown tunnel, hoping once you come out, you’ll rev up and speed to the highway then circle back around. You never had the chance to come out of the other side as the last thing you remembered was bright lights on the other side. Then blackness.
The next time you opened your eyes, you were in an unknown room and tied up.
!!!
You panicked a bit as you adjusted looking around the unknown room. You remembered your body is aching. Especially your back as you remembered letting go of your bike and scratching it against the pavement as you fell. You tried to sit up but stumbled back as you realized your hands are tied behind you.
You groaned at that, before you could do anything else the door opened. You watched as two men entered the room. The two of them are dressed casually and they looked to be the same age as your father. You watched them wearily as they stood there. They were conversing in hushed tones.
“Who are you?” You decided to speak. Your voice cracked a bit. Fuck, how long was you out?
“Ahh, the little girl is awake,” The man with a plaid shirt mused while the other dressed in a tight black shirt turned to you with a smirk. Then he greeted you with your name, making you look at him with wide eyes.
“How do you know me? Who the fuck are you?” you spat at him as you looked around the room. It looked abandoned but judging by the mattress you are currently on and the table with one chair. It was quite lived in. Oddly, you felt like you should know that place but you didn’t.
“Well, it looks like your father never tells you about his officemates huh?” The man in the black shirt said as he moved towards you. He grabbed your arm to make you stand up and you started to fight him. Finally gaining some strength but you are just a tiny human. He was like a solid brick wall and threw you over the chair.
The man in the plaid shirt just leaned on the wall against the door as he watched. Amusement swimming in his eyes.
“It's nice to finally meet you,” The man in the black shirt continued talking as if he didn’t just manhandle you. His eyes darkened as he looked over at your body. “Didn’t know that Nate keeps this pretty thing,”
“Come on now K, we are here to gather information.” The man in the plaid shirt said. Though it was sarcastic, you can tell. You use that tone too many times. The man in the black shirt laughed.
“Yes I know but it's no harm in having fun,” Then he turned back to you. “Now, before we go, have fun. You have to answer a few questions,”
“Before you asked, I don’t fucking know a thing about what my father does,” You told them straight. Now wanting to prolong this experience and also, you know it was hopeless that you would get out of here unscathed. “If you are going to ask anything about it. All I can give you is an apartment number and the address,”
The man in the black shirt raised his brows at you. His eyes told you that he was shocked that you are giving that up so easily. Well, you still didn’t know why your father kept it from you and since you are the owner of the place now. You can do anything to it as it pleases you and if it's going to be that or your life. You choose to give that up.
The man in the plaid shirt laughed. “That’s funny, we do not need to know that. We are already here,”
Your brows furrowed as you looked around. Finally talking about the place in. It was hard given that the lights were dimmed a bit but as you looked around. You noticed that there are marks of furniture being there but now it's not. Marks of cabinets can be seen and when you looked over the table, you noticed cables of where a computer was supposed to be there.
This is the apartment? Well, shit.
“What we need to know—” The man in the black shirt said as he reached out behind him to brandish a knife. Your eyes widened at it as he brought it right in front of your cheeks as he grew closer. He put the blunt end over your cheeks as he stopped inches from your face. “--- is where all the shit in this apartment has gone huh?”
“I-I don’t know,” you told him shakily.
“Tsk, let’s try that again, pretty girl,” the man in the black shirt said as he ran the blunt end of the blade until it landed on the top button of your blouse. You had worn your red long sleeved shirt over your biker jacket. Thank God you are wearing pants and not a skirt at that time or it would be more unbearable. “Tell us where your father kept it?! Tell us!”
“I don’t even know what he kept from you!” you told him and the next thing you knew, searing pain came and you looked down to see he nicked you a few inches below your collarbone.
“You won’t speak. Well, you are going to open that mouth after this!” The man in the black shirt said and then you felt searing pain on your left cheeks. His hand meeting your cheek, the sound echoed harshly inside the room.
You felt tears start to fall from your eyes as you cried out. He continues to slap you again this time on the other side before grabbing your chin.
“Talk,”
“I’m talking! I don't know where or what it is! I just learned I already owned the apartment but I never came here!” You pleaded but it's as if he didn’t hear you as he brought the knife again this time easily nicked the first button of your blouse and then another not even carefully as he nicked you again. You hissed at that.
“Tell us now or we won’t stop and do worse bitch!” He delivered another slap and that started your thrashing. You trashed to the point that you tilted the chair and landed on the floor.
“Please let me go! Let me— ah!” You shouted as the man in the plaid shirt joined the fray. When you were able to sit up, he slammed you back down on the floor. You cried out at the pain. The bruises you obtain from the crash are still fresh.
“If you are not going to be useful. We might as well find something to do with you.” The man in the plaid shirt said. Then they turned you over as they watched you struggle. The man in the black shirt, K, you remembered he was called. Cut the rope on your wrist and you took the opportunity to trash more. Though the man in the plaid shirt anticipated it and this time slammed you back down on the floor. You cried as black spots started to appear in your eyes. Fuck you can’t lose consciousness now.
“You fucking stay down,” the man in the plaid shirt said as you tried to wiggle your wrist from his grip but to no avail he has you pinned down. K, straddle your waist and lean down with his knife back on the buttons of your blouse.
“You think you can just tell us you know nothing? Your father treated you like a fucking treasure that no one should touch just like he did with his work back at the office,” He said as he looked over at you. Your skin crawled as he traced you with his eyes. “Good thing we killed him. We can have his work now and you,”
“No! Please! Stop!” You cried out and the two of them just laughed.
“You are a pretty girl, why don’t you give us a show?” K said as he ignored you please. Your mind is racing as you watch helplessly. You got to get the fuck out of here, you fucking must.
“You are ours to—”
!!!!
You didn’t think anymore as you just gathered the strength you have left and slammed your knee against it. K cried out and he accidentally slashed your stomach. You cried too but then the other man unconsciously loosened his grip and as you trashed because of the pain. You snatched your wrist away from him.
As you sat up, you felt him drag you back on the floor. You're back already filled with bruises slammed on it making you cry out. Your hands frantically moved over the floor until you felt the hilt of the knife.
“You fucking—- argh!” The man shouted as you used the knife to slice his hand. You stood up as you held your stomach to stop its bleeding. You kicked the head of the man that held you down as hard as you could with your boots. You didn’t bother to look around as you opened the door.
Before you could even step outside, you felt a hand grab the back of your blouse. It was already opened revealing the plethora of bruises and cuts and it was soaked through by your blood. You got dragged back a bit and you hit a solid chest.
“Where the fuck do you think— fucking hell!” You slammed the knife on his thigh to make you let go. You didn’t bother to get the knife, you just ran out of there. You are met with a living room and went straight towards the main door. As soon as you opened it you just didn’t think and took a left and ran. Your eyes fixed on the fire exit. You heard a shout behind you but you didn’t stop.
You were able to slip through the door but then a loud gun shot was heard and you hissed as you looked down to see that you were grazed by your waist.
“Get back here!” You didn’t bother to turn around. You bolted and willed yourself to run faster. Adrenaline probably is what keeps you up and about. The next thing you know, your feet took you to the basement parking lot. You cursed. You just fucking wished they took your bike or else it was another thing—
There! Thank fuck! You saw your scratched bike. They took it and parked it beside an unmarked van. You hurriedly moved towards it hearing the thundering of feet from the stairs. You wasted no time running over it. Your helmet is gone but you can fucking manage. You are already bleeding and you need to get out of there.
You searched for the taped spare key you placed in the bike. You have the tendency to lose it so you always have a spare key taped on the bike itself in which only your tiny hands could get to. You reached under the seat and looked towards the staircase until you felt it. Wasting no time, you took it between your fingers. You were just about to rev up your bike when K and several men burst out of the staircase.
You wasted no time and took off. Ducking and wincing as you heard gunshots popped and aimed at you. All of them missed as you swerved expertly while you looked around for exit. When you found it, you didn’t hesitate even when you heard tires screeching behind. You just knew you gotta get out of it.
There was a chase you could remember but no gunshots. You could feel your body getting heavier by the minute as you glanced down and saw that apparently, they grazed you again as you bleed just below your breast. You were bleeding all over your bike.
“Shit shit shit,” You can’t help but curse as you zoomed past a stoplight. You heard severe tires screeching at the distance but you didn’t dare to turn around. You just drove and the next thing you knew. You crashed, again but this time right in front of Utah General. You remembered stumbling on the ground as a group of doctors and nurses probably on break tended to you immediately.
The last thing you remember was you being placed in a stretcher and doctor’s frantically asking you questions. You tried really but all you can feel was the adrenaline running out of you and your body weakening by the loss of blood. Then you blacked out.
You finished your recollection of that night, your eyes closed tight as you will yourself to stop shaking. You didn’t dare to see their expression but they were quiet. Too quiet so you continue to talk.
“There was no major surgery but I had bruised bones and lost a lot of blood. My back was a bit fucked up but it was my front that took a lot of cuts and the grazes from the gun shots. The doctors told me I was lucky and that I was smart to bring myself to the hospital as soon as possible.” You told them. “Though, I was knocked out for three consecutive days. In and out because I was fatigued.”
“When I woke up, the police were there and informed me that the Utah Labs that my father worked at was seized the next day of my alleged crash. An anonymous person gave them my father’s files and everything he worked on to the Utah PD about the company making date rape drugs and they were working with an underground laboratory that do human experiments.” You continued as you felt the two boys not even reacting or saying anything. “They were able to arrest everyone. They told me if what happened to me three days ago is connected to the case. They would need my statement.”
“So I told them everything in the condition that they won’t say my name or my father for the whole duration of the case. That is why it took me a week to finally go back to Hawkins. I had to make the bruises fade a bit enough for the concealer,” You finished. This time you welcomed the silence and hugged yourself closer if that was even possible.
You didn’t know how long the silence had gone and you refused to look at them. Afraid of their expressions.
Then someone called your name so gently, that if it's not quite you wouldn’t hear it but you did. You weren’t sure who it was but you didn’t comply instead you shook your head.
“Please look at me,” The voice said and as it neared you knew who it was. Steve. Still you refused to do so. You heard a sigh and then slowly you felt a hand hover over your arms. You flinched, not because the touch is unwelcome. You just knew that if one of them touched you. You would crumble. You are barely holding it together.
“You’re safe here. It's okay, just please look at me,” Steve pleaded and finally had enough of it. You forced your eyes open and as you dared to look at Steve. You see his disheveled look. His hair looked to be run through by his fingers too many times and his eyes were brimming with tears. The first time you saw him shed some tears, not even when Nancy dumped him for Jonathan. Though, you expected pity on them just like the first day but no. It wasn’t pity you knew that for sure.
It wasn't pity. It was– guilt. Why would he be guilty when you are just thankful that he isn’t—
“I knew something was off the moment I saw you,” he spoke softly as he looked over at you as he let his tears fall. “I thought Uncle Nate did things to you and I was angry. So angry but hearing what happened that night. I just wished I insisted on coming. I could have helped. I-I could have prevented—”
“No,” you quickly interjected as you shook your head. “No, Steve. If you were there, they could have done worse on you too. I-I don’t want that.” You cried as you looked back at him. “I already lost my father. I can’t lose you too,”
Steve shook his head. “But still– I could have protected you against Billy. D-dustin told me what happened the night Billy came into the Byers house. The panic attack. I could have protected you—”
“It was just an unfortunate thing to happen Steve. You shouldn’t burden yourself on that.” You told him that. “I was just relieved that you and Uncle Harold were unharm.”
Steve released a breath before he wiped the tears that fell from his cheeks. “Still, forgive me Squirt?”
“There is nothing to forgive, Jerk,” You told him and this time when he reached out for you. You willingly went in his arms. There you let yourself crumble as you cried out against his chest and Steve held you close. You didn’t know how long you stayed there but soon Steve laid a kiss on the top of your head.
“I-I just need to take a walk though. Need to just let this flow through my system but whatever you need. You can come to me. You know that right,” Steve looked at you as he wiped your tears. You nodded and you let him go. He then looked over at Eddie, you still haven’t looked at him but you saw Steve gave a knowing look then looked over at you.
With that he offered a small smile as he sniffled and proceeded to walk out of the living room and out of the house. Silence yet again enveloped the house as you remained in your position. Afraid on talking or even—
“Nothing changed,” Eddie suddenly spoke and that made you look at him. Eddie though, you expected that in some way, he would look at you with pity. That’s what everybody did when they learned what happened to you but it was the same expression he gave you when you decided to tell them everything. It didn’t change. Pure Adoration. “It just made me more taken with you,”
“Eddie,” You started. “I-I might not be the best person to have a relationship now. I-I would have issues with somethings–”
“We have time,” Eddie cut you off as he finally closed the distance between the two of you. He dragged himself to sit in front of you. You didn’t move, afraid to touch him too but Eddie didn’t touch you too. Instead he offered his hands, palms up. “I’m a patient man despite popular belief,” He offered a small smile as you looked down at his hands.
“We’ll go at your pace and I would just follow along sweetheart,” He added.
“Are you sure? You told me that your life is fucked up—”
“Nope, nope! No comparing how my life or others life is fucked up.” Eddie yet again cut you off. “We all have our own battles. I just decided that I want to help you fight yours. Now what say m’lady?”
He offered this time one of his hands and bowed. You stared at it but instead of taking his hand to hold. You held it and pulled his arms open as you crashed in it. Hugging him like there is not tomorrow. Eddie hugged you back, his arms just like that night, came around you like steel bands. Safe. You feel fucking safe again.
“Oh my baby, you are so strong and so brave.” Eddie started to mumble against your ear and you didn’t know you needed to hear that. But fuck, Eddie Munson just knows what to say to you. As soon as you heard those words, you crumbled again. This time you quite literally put yourself on his lap. You wrapped your legs around his waist and your arms around his shoulder while you buried your face on his neck.
Eddie didn’t mind as he pulled you against him tighter if that was possible. He proceeds to tell you sweet things as he lets you cry. Again, you didn’t know how long you were in his arms though slowly you felt the heaviness on your bones.
Tired for the day and Eddie must have felt it as he carefully shifted you until he could carry you like a bride. You easily molded yourself in his arms but didn’t remove your head on his neck. Sleep started to creep on you. You felt Eddie stand and was about to move when you heard the front door open.
“Oh, she’s asleep?” Steve asked. You felt Eddie shifted you a bit before he answered.
“Getting there, i’ll go tuck her in for the night. If that’s alright?” Eddie asked.
“I-I can take her—” You clutched onto Eddie a bit tighter. No offense to Steve but you were quite comfortable in Eddie’s arms and you didn’t want the feeling of being safe to leave you. Steve must have noticed before he cut himself off before you heard him sigh. “— do you want me to lead you to her room?”
“Please,”
The next thing you know, you were being laid on your bed. You briefly opened your eyes to look at them sleepily.
“I-I should go—”
“That’s right—”
Before Eddie could move, your hands reached out to hold the sleeve of his leather jacket. Eddie abruptly stopped and looked at you while Steve did the same.
“Can you please stay?” You just asked quietly as you looked over at Steve. “I want Eddie to stay,”
You watched as the two men looked at each other. Steve narrowed his eyes while Eddie just looked back at him. They weren’t moving or speaking but despite your sleep-addled brain you can see the both of them talking. Then Steve sighed.
“Okay, but no funny business,” Steve pointed at the two of you. “And no locking of doors,”
This time you can’t help but snort but Steve just sternly looked at you. You can’t help but roll your eyes. “Yes mom. Can you just leave?” You told him as you tugged Eddie and scooted over your bed. Steve sighed and gave one final look at Eddie.
“I mean it, Munson. No funny business while I’m in the house,” Steve said as he started to walk out. “The walls are thin,” He grumbled to himself.
You cuddle up to Eddie who removed his leather jacket and just laid it on the floor beside the bed. You didn’t see the mischievous look that took place on Eddie’s face after what Steve said.
“So, if you are not in the house, funny business is on?” Eddie asked and you can’t help but snort at that. The events are still heavy on you but you can’t help but find it funny and comforting to have Steve and Eddie banter.
“Jesus Christ! You are putting images in my head that shouldn’t be there,” Steve said and with that he ran out of there. He slammed the door though but shouted “Do not fucking lock this!” before you heard him stomp back to his room.
Eddie wrapped an arm around you as the both of you settled. You finally started to let sleep take over you but then your eyes abruptly opened as you lifted your head to look at Eddie.
“What is it Sweetheart?”
You stared at him for a while before talking. “You have to take me to a date first,”
Eddie smiled at that and pulled you back in his arms. You snuggled against his chest at that, though you didn’t close your eyes yet.
“Oh, don’t worry sweetheart. I intend to take you on the best first date of your life,”
