Music: 9.9/10 Gabby and I think there are 2 sides to Infinite. One is their darker, I want to say sometimes grungier, side, which includes songs such as 추격자 (The Chaser), 내꺼하자 (Be Mine), and Paradise. The other is their brighter, cuter side which includes such tracks as Man in Love, Can U Smile, and She's Back. Recently, we felt that Infinite had sort of kicked the earlier said side to the curb, and considering we tend to like that side better (personally, we think the latter side sometimes becomes a little too K-drama soundtrack-y), we were a bit sad. So THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT WE'VE BEEN CRAVING. I LOVE the electronic feel and fast beat. But, as per usual, Infinite doesn't forget its instruments. I dig the piano and violin in the background. The lyrics are classic Infinite: that mildly self-sacrificing, bad-boy-turned-good-because-of-love vibe... The vocals are lovely. The only thing I docked for is maybe because the song is electronic and has upper harmonies, the balance between high and low pitches seems a bit off to me (random thought: what would happen if Infinite made a song with intense bass?). I'm usually okay from the lower breaks from Dongwoo and Hoya's raps, but I don't know why it wasn't quite enough for me this time around. Maybe because they're getting older, I kind of expect them to experiment more with lower tones? I don't know, please don't kill me for that opinion, I only took off 0.1. Otherwise, perfect.
9.5/10 I LOVE THIS SONG. Like no joke, I'm in love with this song. It's classic Infinite and the Infinite I love (sorry Man in Love, you just didn't cut it). But I'm still docking points because of the intro, because I really don't get it. I'm not a big fan of clashing electronic, robotic, Transformer sounds, but the rest of the song was so amazing that I basically ignore the beginning in my head.
Video Concept: 8.5/10 This video was beautifully done, there's no denying. It was directed by the same director as B.A.P.'s "One Shot", and I can definitely see the same artistic touch. However, I had some issues with this video. Firstly, what was with the powers? I was getting some serious Exo vibes... weird reflection-y stuff, fire, dematerializing into black dust? Woohyun's mystical unicorn running thing was pretty original, though. Anyway, at least in Exo's case, their random powers are part of their whole concept and I guess some kind of story line? Something about the 12 being split into 6 and 6, and when they come back together, great things happen, or something along those lines, I don't quite get it, but basically, they have a thing going with those powers. In this video's case, it was really unnecessary. Not even all of them got powers. Similarly, in Infinite's previous experiment with powers in 다시돌아와 (Come Back Again), only Sungyeol had a power, which was teleportation-like speed. I mean, I guess it's fun to look at, but I don't think those superhuman powers were needed. Secondly, kind of going back to the Exo point, was there supposed to be a story line involved? I don't see how the powers really tie in anywhere... hence further lack of necessity. Thirdly, I wish Infinite could have a music video with a story line. I used to like their usual video style which just focuses on their dancing and them looking good, but considering half the group has professional acting experience, I think it'd be fun for them and for us to have maybe a dance version and a drama version- HOLY CRAP WHAT IF THAT'S THE "Ver. A" WE'RE WAITING FOR?!!! *GASP* (if this doesn't make sense to you: the title of the music video says "Ver. B" on it, so we're guessing there's a "Ver. A") Lastly... why was Dongwoo kind of AWOL and just driving around in the desert.
8.5/10 Was there supposed to be a concept? Can someone let us know if there was? And I was also confused about the whole EXO part, but I was too busy looking at their faces to care.
Costumes: 9.7/10 I would like to steal some of their clothes. For two reasons. 1. Obvious reasons. 2. I'd like to wear that style if I could pull it off which I can't but I can wish. Anyhow, I'm docking for hair. I think middle parts (I guess it's not even a full part, it's like a bang part) can't be pulled off very easily... I'm sorry, but I'm missing Dongwoo's, Woohyun's, and Sungyeol's forehead-sweeping hairstyle. Regarding Sungyeol's hair up: it's not bad, but I think it makes him look even younger (he has a very young face). I loved everyone else's hair though. Especially liking Sungjong's tousled look and Hoya's shaved sides of swag.
9.5/10 Aahh Infinite can pull of pretty much anything soo..
Sets: 10.0/10 I mean... come on. Props to Infinite for being the first K-pop group to use Universal Studios' sets. And amazing use of them.
10.0/10 When I heard they were filming at the metro sets at Universal I freaked.
Choreo: 10.0/10 Need I say more? Beautiful choreo, beautiful execution.
10.0/10 I have never been disappointed with Infinite's choreo before and I wasn't this time. SO AMAZING
Overall: 9.3/10 Great music video. Biggest issue I'd say is the powers thing. Clap it out to Infinite. After a ten-month hiatus, they come rushing back with two new albums, a third one on its way, and a world tour. I love this song, perfect for the summer, would recommend. Inspirit forever <3
9.5/10 What more can I say? Jenny went much more in detail than I did on this one. Infinite is amazing and I love them and the world is wonderful and I can't wait for their world tour (looks like I'll have to get me some metal gold pearl [wow I'm such a dork someone save me]). Infinite hwaiting!! ∞
