I am really starting to see the Speak Now references!! I was watching old videos and I didn’t remember that ‘The Story of Us’ music video also had chapters in it…. 😳👀 @taylorswift @taylornation
All to well🥺❤️
CS Lewis writes an amazing quote about love that I think is very reminiscent of this new song “The Archer—>
“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable.”
The archer seems to me to be all about the fear of letting your guard down and preparing for combat while at the same time realizing that that vulnerability will allow people to see you for who you truly are. Sometimes who we “truly are” can be terrifying to ourselves. We don’t want others to see it. However, to love at all—just like CS Lewis says— is to be vulnerable.
We have to be vulnerable in order to feel and to let others into our lives. I think this quote along with this song is an amazing way to interpret The Archer. 💗

Breakups are really hard, but hey Taylor thanks for writing lyrics for the past 10 years of my life that I can relate to, vent with (aggressively singing them on full volume in my car) and cry to. And hey thanks for making the rep tour into a Netflix special cos I now I can do it all while watching the songs semi live.
