Honestly I thought she would have done this by now

Most of my longtime followers are very used to me talking about my girlfriend on here, or at the very least are used to me adding #Alethea to a great number of things. #Alethea was a tag for the person who became tumblr user candidcadences, someone who many of you actually seem to like more than myself in many instances. She is certainly more well-spoken than I have ever been, which is why I expected it to be her to write this note. 

However it has now been over a week since something very significant happened and I can't just keep it from those of you who care about what's going on in my life. 

Alethea, a.k.a. candidcadences, broke up with me last Monday. Don't worry, we'll still be friends, but we're just not dating anymore. Although I don't entirely understand the reasoning behind her doing so (Apparently she got a lot of advice from a lot of people that told her to, but I don't know what any of it entailed. This is why I wanted her to write this note. She could tell you all why much better than I can.), I completely respect her decision as I want the best for her. And If I wasn't the best for her, then so be it. 

I'm entering a new stage of my life - a stage where I get to do things I enjoy (I'm auditioning for plays and making videos when I get the chance. I'm also looking into film schools.). I was hoping Alethea could be a part of that, but it seems God had other plans.

Anyway, I just figured you all should know. I think I tagged all of you who I thought would care the most. If I missed anyone I'm sorry, I really was going by who likes most of my stuff when I blog personal things, and who I talk to regularly.

I love you all and thanks for caring about a tiny blogger such as myself.

"I’m pregnant."

Sokka nearly cut off his finger, missing it by a hair as he cut into the fresh vegetables Toph had handed him to prepare for dinner. Dropping the knife quickly, he turned to face the blind earthbender. 

"Uh," The man stared blankly at the woman who continued stirring, undisturbed by the comment she had just made, "Excuse me?"

"I’ve got a bun in the oven, Snoozles."

Glancing quickly down at the post-war invention, he quickly realized she wasn’t referring to baking.

"Sokka, I swear if you just looked at the oven…"

"I didn’t," He muttered, always surprised by how good she was at guessing his facial activity even when she couldn’t see it or feel it. The chief-of-police scoffed, but continued on with her stirring.

"I didn’t realize you and that guy were so close," He wracked his brain, trying to think of the name that fit the guy he had seen Toph with a few times. "Congratulations, I guess."

Toph’s stirring slowed, her milky eyes staring at the tile that lined the wall of the kitchen in front of her. Eventually, she stopped stirring altogether.

"We weren’t that close," She admitted bitterly, still not turning to face him fully, "We were just stupid." 

Sokka really didn’t know what to say to that.

"I was going to announce it at dinner later tonight," Toph admitted, turning a knob and extinguishing the flame that was lit beneath the pot she had abandoned, "I was going to pretend to be happy and act like everything is okay. But it’s not."

"Is that why you invited Aang and Katara over?"

"Yes," She sighed, grabbed the vegetables he had been chopping and wrapping them in a towel before throwing them in the trash bin that lay at the end of the counter. "But I don’t know what I was thinking. First, I can’t cook, and second, I don’t think Twinkletoes and Sugar Queen would ever believe that I was alright. They’re overly emotional, but not stupid."

The councilman reached a hand out to place on his friend’s shoulder in comfort but thought better of it, knowing sympathy would only make Toph’s harsh reality worse. Retracting his hand, the man voiced the question that burned at the front of his mind.

"Is he going to help?"

Toph laughed, bitter resentment evident in her tone as she confirmed what he had expected was the issue. “Are you kidding? The moment I told him, he was already half way to the Fire Nation.”

Sokka stared at the floor trying to think up some solution, something to offer his friend so she would know that just because her former lover had left, she wouldn’t be alone. But he knew it was no use. 

"I’m sorry, Toph."

"It doesn’t matter," She responded, visibly cringing as a knock came from the front door, "Sorry doesn’t fix what’s already been done."
