Not sure where the line between a head cannon and an entire new world in my head is, but here we go: Ginny has moved on to play professional Quidditch, broken up with Harry, come out as a lesbian, and started dating a teammate. She's living her authentic life and loving it. Now it’s Christmas, and the two are heading home to meet her family — including Harry — for the first time. Ginny is trying to be a supportive partner, knowing her loud, loving family can be overwhelming, but she’s also deeply concerned about Harry, who clearly hasn’t been doing well for a while. She tries to talk to Ron, but he’s already at a loss after trying everything he can think of.
Meanwhile, Ginny’s partner is feeling insecure and a little jealous. It’s one thing to be told your partner is over her famous ex-boyfriend, and another to watch all her energy go into worrying about him. And Harry picks up on this and attempts to reassure her that there’s nothing romantic between them, but she’s not convinced. But after overhearing yet another tense conversation, Harry finally opens up: he’s gay, too — but he doesn’t plan to come out. He says it doesn’t matter.
Ginny is stunned. Her family has been so accepting of her, and she’d assumed Harry would have the same support. But he explains it’s different for him — they’re her family, and of course they love her. That difference breaks Ginny’s heart.
Her partner, now seeing Harry in a new light, shifts from suspicion to empathy — and suddenly wants to protect this quiet, hurting boy who’s still figuring things out.
And I've never resolved anything in my life so that's all I got.
this is so. PERFECT
i've had an idea in my head that meshes with this so well and, luckily, i tend to be a resolver...
