No matter how hard I try not to be *that* person but I often make it to exhibitions in their last hours! And thanks to the kind staff at @jewishmuseumaus for letting me in to see the truly delightful MIRKA, curated by my former colleague @jessbram_ . It was such an intimate yet transportative exhibition, crammed with so many delightful objects including this ribbon which was for Mirka Mora’s own fashion label (which I must admit had no knowledge of) from the 1950s. Many Melburnians have their own treasured memories of Mirka… here are two of mine. I loved seeing her in Daimaru, always with her pram, buying up the most expensive Porsche designer pots and pans and then later, seeing her several times in the once encyclopaedic newsagents in Swan St, Richmond. Sadly Daimaru Melbourne , Swan St Newsagency and Mirka herself have left us.
