Hey girlie! I have a comic con question for you! Since last year was my first experience i still feel like a complete noob/airhead on how things work. Do you by any chance know how one gets passes to do the whole autograph line thing inside of the venue?
It depends on the show. I’m gonna guess you’re interested in a WB property (SPN, Arrow, TVD, Constantine) which uses a ticket lottery, as do most of the limited signings.
If it’s the same policy as last year, you have to get to the Sails Pavilion super early in the morning (doors open at 6:30am) and wait in an insane line. They do a lottery so your place in the queue does NOT guarantee you a ticket, just a chance to draw for one. If you manage to snag an autograph ticket, they give you a wristband along with the time/place to return for your signing. While there is no cost for these autographs, it is a big time investment and there’s no guarantee after hours in line that you will even get a ticket, so keep that in mind.
The schedule should go up on the official website around two weeks prior, but also check the SDCC Unofficial Blog for more news on panels and autographs. Also worth noting is sometimes studios like to keep mum on who exactly will be appearing at Comic Con, so they won’t actually list who will be at a session. But rest assured, if a Marvel booth signing shows up on the autograph schedule, YOU GET IN THAT LINE AND PRAY FOR A TICKET BECAUSE YOU KNOW IT’S GONNA BE FOR THE AVENGERS.
And finally, this only covers the bigger movie/tv limited signings. Other artists, authors, and celebrities may be holding sessions at individual booths or rooms, usually for a fee or with a purchase (e.g. a book). Keep in mind, though, that everyone is required to autograph the Comic Con official program for FREE, but may charge for signing other materials.
