My household of 4's weekly rubbish on a big DIY week! Half that bag is expansion foam cut offs and unrecyclable sealant tubes. I've been doing an informal rubbish audit every week (a.k.a. bin rummage and vaguely acknowledge what is there lots). Our main areas we now need to find replacements for are baking paper and meat packaging (two of the four of us still eat meat a couple of times a week). Because the meat packaging stiiiinks no matter how much we try and clean it we end up putting out a bag every week, even though it's half full, which is an annoying waste of plastic. We are looking at possibly teaming up with our neighbour to get a wheelie bin, because combined we would probably fill a bin every 2 weeks and that way we can reduce our rubbish bag consumption. Pretty much everything else we bring into the house can be recycled or composted. 😁 Our other #zerowastefail is the amount of soft plastic that we recycle. It's all recycled, but ideally we would send less to recycling too, as that is a very water and energy intensive process. Reducing and reusing is always the ideal. #recycle #zerowastenz #zerowaste #almostzerowaste #journeytozerowaste #trash #trashisfortossers #rubbishday #reduce #reuse #packagefree #plasticfreeliving (at Wellington, New Zealand)
