Dear Amani,
How has life been treating you? I hope you and your family have been well! In this letter, I wrote about some random things I remember and appreciate about you! Recalling everything and writing them out is kind of therapeutic in a way. It helps me find some sort of closure to our college days, seeing as how abrupt and strange it ended because of COVID-19. I did hope I could write this letter by hand and give it to you in person, but seeing how things are going, I’m not sure if we’ll have a graduation party any time soon. Nevertheless, I hope we get to meet sometime in the future and see how we’ve grown as people!
My very first memory of you:
My first time meeting you was while we were waiting outside an occupied class. You were discussing with Norah about various anime, and I think that was your first time meeting her as well. The two of you were really hitting it off. You mentioned the anime Nana, and that was when I chimed in.
My most favorite thing about you:
I love how you know what you like and what you don't. You don't seem indecisive, and you know so much about so many things, which makes me see you as the type of person who likes to dig through things deeper than what is given to you. I love how you do things at your own pace without having others killing your vibe. You're completely honest about your feelings which sometimes makes me wish I could be that blunt.
Something that reminds me of you:
I associate you with history, mythology, Berserk, and gluten-free foods. Our conversations have always been interesting and new to me!
A few ways that we're radically different:
I think we have different senses of humor, and I'm nowhere near as straightforward with my thoughts as you are.
A song that I'd think you like:
I have no clue what your favorite genre is. Maybe you'd like "Low Blow" by HONEYMOAN?
Where I see you being in 20 years:
I really hope you end up pursuing literature just like you wanted and do the things that you enjoy! I can imagine your room being filled with so many books, and you becoming that cool wise person who knows so muchhh.
A shower of gratitude:
Thank you for helping me out during the Japanese event! You cut papers with me so I could write on them, and you don't know how grateful I am for that! It legit turned a horrible disappointing day into a great one! Also, thank you for being so nice to me and giving me random compliments. It really made me happy!
One deep dark secret that you don't know about:
I had really complicated feelings towards you. There were times I'd feel very confused because I found myself not being able to read/understand you. Also, there were a lot of times where I'd unintentionally get awkward around you and I'm not even sure why, but it made me so freaking embarrassed.
Though it has been short, thank you for everything during these past years! May your future be filled with happiness, success, and good health. With lots of love, Areej Aldosary
