This is a book called Alone Rewinding. It’s the story of two centers of my heart: raising my daughter and singing for a living. Just thumbed through it at the merch table. I’ve been reading bits of it onstage, but haven’t really thought of it as a whole thing lately. Kinda choked me up. I think I really like it. The feedback from people has been heartening, too. I’m happy I tried. Sweet people buying it at the shows, send me a msg if you want the audiobook and the soundtrack. Anyone gettin it online, I’ll send that stuff to you as well. It’ll be on Amazon and Kindle and all the platforms sometime, and it’s been perfect selling the first printing direct and personal. I’m down to the last few boxes, and now that touring is almost done for the year, I’m finally gonna do a bookclub for it around the holidays. Sittin at my very simple merch table in Austin. Got some feels to say, let’s see if I can. So many kind people on this tour. Glad I got to these places, to play this music. More on that later, actually. Too much for right now. Anyway, lotsa ppl want to pay by credit card, and I don’t have the gadget, so I’m just giving them the book, sending them an email w/a payment link, and trusting. It keeps working out. Might sound strange to call that a dream come true, but it is. We really feel like a family to me. Not sure what comes next, I just know I’m gonna keep prioritizing the personal part. Didn’t really get how intertwined #alonerewinding and #ws20 are until I started reading short passages before/during songs. Grateful to everyone getting the book/audiobook and giving thoughts. The kid in the top pic was on the bill in Livorno when I played there last summer. He was nervous, playing his first real show, and someone sent him to me to talk him down before he played. The dude in the bottom pic is called Brett Newski. He’s a fellow weirdo trying to figure out rocking for a living (seems he’s doing pretty great). He wrote to me cos some ppl at the Chuck Ragan shows he was on said he reminded them of me. He was in SF today and we had a great chat this afternoon over burritos about life & rock, traded music & books, good times. Here’s to growing up together. #music #community #alonerewinding
