I have tinnitus and have been living with it for a year. There is no cure and probably never will be. These days I have at least 3 panic attacks because I realise how helpless I really am. I can't sleep most nights but when I do its for about 4 hours. The stress is building and nothing helps anymore. Not music, not alone time, nothing. The constant ringing is terrible. I no longer fear death. Can therapy possibly help me? Or is it just a waste for someone like me? Please tag alonine
Hello Sweetheart,
Tinnitus can be stressful, but there are different methods of trying to "Mask" the ringing. These three will help if the cause is because of a health condition
-Earwax removal-Treating a blood vessel condition-Changing medications that have a history of worsening/causing tinnitus
Methods of Noise suppression:
White noise machines. These devices, which produce simulated environmental sounds such as falling rain or ocean waves, are often an effective treatment for tinnitus. You may want to try a white noise machine with pillow speakers to help you sleep. Fans, humidifiers, dehumidifiers and air conditioners in the bedroom also may help cover the internal noise at night. Hearing aids. These can be especially helpful if you have hearing problems as well as tinnitus.
Masking devices. Worn in the ear and similar to hearing aids, these devices produce a continuous, low-level white noise that suppresses tinnitus symptoms. Pillow Speakers Cheaper Pillow Speakers
Tinnitus retraining. A wearable device delivers individually programmed tonal music to mask the specific frequencies of the tinnitus you experience. Over time, this technique may accustom you to the tinnitus, thereby helping you not to focus on it. Counseling is often a component of tinnitus retraining.
Tinnitus can be tricky. I would suggest trying noise machines if you are having that much trouble with sleeping. I would recommend therapy, especially if your tinnitus is causing you to feel depressed, or incapable. Are you feeling alright honey? If this condition is causing you this much stress, would you talk to someone about this for me? This is hard to do alone, and I hope you're doing okay lovely. Hang in there hun. Source
Stay Strong!-Tobias
