A few months had passed since Christine had come to stay with them and Raoul noted the changes almost immediately. Christine actually joked around and had the energy to do more than just lie around when she wasn't rehearsing or performing. However, she was still broken up over her missing friend. This was clear during the moments where the singer would retreat into herself, hand subconsciously rubbing the tiny swell that had formed on her stomach as she stared into the distance. He was surprised that she was already showing but he wasn't too worried. That could be happening for a number of reasons, her somewhat slender frame included.
While he was better comfort for when she started crying, Erik was much better at pulling her out of her daze. He had become almost an older brother figure to her, letting her scent him when she needed to. Raoul would admit that he had gotten jealous the first few times this happened, but he'd shoved that aside. It wasn't romantic for either of them and even if Christine did develop a thing for his alpha, nothing would ever come out of it. Erik was too devoted to him despite their arguments and Christine treasured their friendship.
At the current moment, She was curled up on the couch with their cat. Ayesha had taken it upon herself to be a protector of sorts, especially when it came to the little baby bump. The little furry demon laid right against it and would scratch at anyone who tried to touch it aside from Christine and perhaps Erik at times. He shook himself out of his thoughts before walking out of the room. He didn't need the other omega to wake up and accuse him of being a creep just because he'd accidentally stared at her for a bit while she napped.
He wandered around the house until he found Erik and immediately wrapped his arms around the older man's waist. He smiled when he registered the small purr that left him, leaning up to kiss the side of his neck. "Hey, mon chéri. I'm going to go out and get us some groceries and the chocolate that Lotte has been craving. Is there anything that you want in particular?" He questioned.
"No... Though I do think Chrissy could do with a heating pad or something. She's been complaining about her back aching a quite a bit but we both know that she won't get one herself or ask for one." Erik sighed. Raoul nodded in acceptance, kissing his neck once more. His lover was correct. Unfortunately the woman had always been like that, but Meg's abandonment of her only made it worse.
"Of course. I'll see if I can find one while I'm out. See you later." Raoul murmured, giving Erik's neck one last kiss before he managed to pull himself away. He headed out, glancing at Christine one last time before he closed the door behind him.
Things had only gotten worse once Meg had stormed out of Sorelli's house. She wasn't surprised about that, though. It wasn't like she'd expected her decision to lead to anything good. She could only hope that Sorelli kept her word even after their falling out. She didn't want Christine or the others to know that she'd been so close by. It probably would've hurt Christine more. In theory, of course, but she'd never have an absolute answer because they'd never see each other again if she had anything to say about it.
She probably wouldn't be able to see anyone ever again when she really thought about it. She felt like absolute shit and she had for the last couple of weeks. It had unfortunately only gotten worse. She wasn't entirely sure where she was or where she was headed. Her mind was hazy and her thoughts were racing and hard for her to really process.
It was easiest to focus when it involved Christine because the woman had become something like an anchor to her, keeping her grounded and connected to the world around her. This only made the emotional pain more intense, which made her feel even worse. She gasped when she stumbled over a crack in the sidewalk, falling onto her hands and knees. The dull sting barely registered with her as sweaty stands of hair hung in her face. She tried to push herself back up, at least into a sitting position, but she couldn't. Her arms were much too weak.
Meg allowed herself to collapse fully, using the tiny amount of strength that she still had by some miracle to skootch herself over into the grass. She laid there, seemingly staring at the sky but seeing nothing until even the sound faded away. It was probably a bad thing but the silence was almost comforting so she didn't fight it.
Christine groaned quietly and rubbed her eyes, arching her back slightly when she felt the usual ache. She gave herself a few minutes before she even bothered to sit up, something that got her an annoyed look from the little cat who had been cuddling with her. She giggled and scratched the top of her head. Ayesha purred and pressed up into her hand. She really didn't understand Raoul's issues with his boyfriend's cat. The kitten was the sweetest little thing.
Suddenly the door was thrown open and Raoul stumbled in, dropping the shopping bags. The loud bang caused her to jump and the cat to run off with a hiss. She stood and hurried over to him when she noticed the look of absolute panic on his face. She rested her hands on his shoulders, trying to catch his eye so she could make contact.
"Raoul! What's wrong? Did something happen?" Christine demanded, her voice more shrill than originally intended. But she couldn't help it. He was always so calm and collected unless something truly bad had happened. So this behavior was getting her worked up as well. Erik had heard the commotion and nearly hurled himself down the stairs to see what was happening.
Raoul shook his head, bringing his hands up to move her hands away from his shoulders. He didn't let go of them either. He stroked her knuckles with his thumbs, debating on the best way to break the news to her. "Nothing happened to me. But one of you should call an ambulance. Meg is laying on our lawn, unconscious." He informed gently, withdrawing so he could go back out to the tiny alpha.
Christine's breath hitched and she went pale, hand instinctively coming up to rest on her chest as it heaved. Her fear had crossed the line directly into panic. Her other hand rested on her stomach. Erik immediately shushed her and wrapped her in a comforting embrace. "I'll do it." he murmured and there was a look of understanding between them before Raoul scurried back out of the house.
"It'll be alright, Christine. I promise. You just try and relax and cuddle Ayesha." Erik soothed, sitting her down on the couch. Christine managed a small nod as she got herself comfortable. He handed her the cat to her and she clutched the purring ball of fur to her chest. He kissed her forehead, leaving her on her own.
Christine buried her face in the cat's back and slowly relaxed. It took quite awhile. By the time she was completely calm, the usual lights were flashing outside and bathing the living room in the colors. She just wanted to go to sleep and pretend this was all a bad dream. But she was still too worried about the woman who ripped her heart out to truly follow through with that very tempting idea.
