Hi, im back with a couple more asks! first, you mentioned that the alpha is usually in charge when the owner is away, but what would happen if there was more than one alpha? i imagine beginner alphas would be calmer, but intermediates and professionals would be more likely to argue or fight over who's in charge while to owner's gone. i imagine the owner might have to either specifically pick who's in charge while they're out or mediate the alpha's fight and get them to work together with leading
absolutely!
Theres typically three ways for an alpha to decide who is the Alpha.
They can talk it out civilly, and whoever can handle the broadest range of Alpha duties without taking their stress out on the pack will take up the mantle.
They can fight it out, or the owner picks out the pack alpha.
Some other ways of them handling it are sharing the title if they have a particularly large pack, or passing it around. This is more common with the calmer ones, but even they can occasionally be possessive over their pack if the other alphas are new to the territory.
Occasionally though, issues do come up with two alphas who are sharing, which will either split the pack or kick out the offending alpha.
