              He remembers the time existing was A DEATH SENTENCE for a Mutt; but it was before she was bitten, before Jeremy took over the pack even. Irrelevant, now. Not forgotten ( a wound that closed but has left a scar behind ). “It seems we’re heading there anyway, and I can’t claim innocence in the matter.” Despite the clear admission of guilt, his posture is relaxed – nonchalant even. Whether she believes it or not, he is rather fond of her; not enough to let his guard down but just enough to believe she’s not about to murder him. “I’m not as bad as Danny boy was, no – but that’s hardly an excuse when I willingly worked with him.” Karl looks at her, eyebrows raising. “I won’t make any. Excuses, I mean. I guess that leave us with the question of what’s next, if my execution is officially off the table.”

Tilting her head back to look at the other woman, Gail did a half shrug. She didn’t fully understand why they were tracking the man, but at the very least she actually had experience to offer. Unlike so much of this new life, Gail was very confident in her ability to understand how to stay unnoticed in a crowd. “Yeah, well, you are very noticeable,” Gail returned. It might have been her own hyper awareness of everything and everyone. She swirled her drink and tried to slouch just a bit more. “Just... I don’t know... tone it down would you? There is a limit to how stupid men are. A large one, but still.”

A  smile  stretched  across  Jackson’s  face  when  she  asked  if  he  thought  it  was  a  bit  of  a  stretch,  of  course  it  was  but  that  was  what  made  it  fun.  “Yeah,  it’s  a  bit  of  a  stretch.”  He  replied,  the  smile  turning  into  somewhat  of  a  grin.  “Can  you  even  have  fun?”  He  teased,  nudging  her  ever  so  slightly.  “C’mon,  we  hiked  all  the  way  up  here.”  And  the  waterfall  was  beautiful.  A  day  trip  away  to  unwind,  it  was  something  Jackson  felt  Hayley  could  use.

is  it  really  breaking  in  when  you  know  where  the  HIDE-A-KEY  is  kept?  well  whether  it  was  or  not,  kat  would  be  in  so  much  trouble  if  anyone  in  the  family  found  out  what  she  was  doing.  it  was  bad  enough  she’d  revealed  THE  FAMILY  SECRET,  but  showing  hayley  the  most  important  part  of  the  heritage?  she’d  be  grounded  until  college.  

calling  out  received  no  reply,  leaving  kat  to  let  out  a  sigh  of  relief.  turning  back  to  hayley  waiting  just  outside,  she  gestured  with  her  head  to  follow  her  in.  ❝  okay  they’re  gone.  come  on.  ❞  gone  or  not,  members  of  her  family  had  a  habit  of  DROPPING  IN  UNANNOUNCED  so  the  faster  they  did  this  the  better.  

the  attic  was  A  LOT  LIKE  MOST.  old  furniture  and  boxes  of  clothes  piled  up  along  the  edges  of  the  room.  the  thing  that  made  it  made  it  truly  special  stood  by  the  windows,  sunlight  spilling  over  it.  a  podium  on  which  was  placed  A  HEAVY  TOME,  aged  and  weathered,  it  had  certainly  been  through  a  lot.  kat  led  her  friend  over,  fingers  tracing  the  triquetra  on  the  cover.  ❝  this  is  the  book  of  shadows.  it  has  everything  my  family  has  EVER  LEARNT  about  the  supernatural.  going  right  back  to  the  witch  trials.  ❞  giving  hayley  a  small  smile,  kat  began  flipping  through  the  book.  fairies,  wendigos,  succubi,  on  and  on  the  list  of  creatures  went  until  finally  the  turning  stopped.  at  the  top  of  the  page:  WEREWOLVES.  opposite  a  detailed  illustration  of  a  snarling  wolf.  another  look  shot  to  the  brunette,  this  time  one  of  concern.  kat  hoped  she  was  doing  the  right  thing.

sunlight  streams  in  ,  cascading  throughout  nearby  window  .  it  caresses  freckled  skin  ,  makes  auburn  locks  appear  like  fire  as  they  fall  across  her  back  .  hand  makes  diligent  work  of  writing  in  her  grimoire  ;  another  spell  created  ,  kept  cataloged  in  one  of  the  many  books  she  would  come  to  fill  .   bones  ache  ,  itch  in  excitement  as  the  full  moon  approaches  .   sure  ,  she  is  not  beholden  to  it  ,  but  it  still  sings  to  that  part  of  her  soul  .  

brows  twitch  at  the  feeling  of  someone  near  ;  someone  who  was  incredibly  important  to  her .  the  energy  would  forever  be  imprinted  upon  her  ,  something  she  would  never  be  able  to  stifle  or  relinquish  ,  not  that  she  would  want  to .  pen  is  tactfully  placed  down  in  the  space  between  pages  ,  spell  book  put  aside .  cerulean  hues  look  over  her  shoulder  ,  soft  kind  smile  etching  upon  her  lips .  ❝  .  .  .  hey , mom ! ❞
