12 Months to go.
On the 1st of April 2014 is when I'm due to be leaving Norwich and heading up to Scotland. This time last year it was 20C and hosepipe bans. Today its snowing! With a bit of luck next year will some some place in the middle!
I have updates a few bits of my kit in the past month. I have added a down jacket, and new lighter sleeping mat, and some new tent pegs (not them silly bendy ones that you get with it!). All of this from the guys at www.alpkit.com
After my cold nights sleep in Dunwich, this should all help greatly. The sleeping mat will give me the biggest boost, as I'm too accustomed to sleeping in a bed to be able to dump that for the floor or a 3cm bit of foam.
I have also increase my pack size by getting the Osprey Kestrel 68, The main reason for this is I can now fit my camera in my bag! This is a big bonus as it has always been a pain in the arse to carry otherwise!
Hopefully the weather will improve by the middle of the month, and I may be able to get a sneaky weekend away. I Think Ill be heading to North Norfolk this time, maybe start in Hunstanton and walk the coast. Although I should also look at tide times as its getting close to the right time of year to get Cromer Pier with the sun setting behind it.
Either way with only 12 months now until I start my Trek along the Southern Upland Way, I need to get some sort of training started, and I don't think watching Born Survivor is going to help my physical stamina to much....
