He’s heard a lot about Montparnasse. Gorgeous-- enough so that his appearance almost precedes his bad reputation-- and dangerous. For his age, he’s powerful ( although, aren’t all beautiful people? ), and he’s got a lot of power tucked behind him in case his own skills aren’t enough. It’s foolish, Grantaire thinks, to be seeking his help. After all, if something goes wrong, it’s bye-bye to a lowly drunkard. Not that it’s enough to S T O P him now.
After all, when you’re desperate and m o r o s e, what kind of harm can really be brought to you?
