Characters: Sam, Cas, Dean
Sam knew how long this road trip was gonna be. They were going all across America, just so Dean could get to his dumb concert. He didn’t even know who was playing, and neither did Cas. Sam was so uncomfortable in the back and couldn’t get himself to lay in a comfortable position because of his unusual body length.
“Dean, lets just turn back, it’s been hours and we aren’t even across the state yet.”
“Hang on you green giant, we’ll get there soon.”
“I agree though, don’t you think you could have waited for the concert? Until there was something closer we could go to?” Cas mumbled with his head all the way up.
“Could we stop for a while, I mean, it’s getting dark and all.”
“Sam I swear if you’re wanting to stop just so you could get to saladworks-”
“Dean cut it out,” Cas slapped Dean on the chest, “he’s already in a bad mood.”
“Sorry. You can have whatever you want.”
Dean was beginning to forget where they were and frankly, he was a little too tired to keep driving. He parked by small neighborhood and kicked his legs up onto the wheel.
“Dean, you’ll kill us all.”
“Hey, my legs won’t slip. Google a store we could go to for some junk food.”
“One sec. Uh- there’s one almost ten minutes from here. Just down south a little.”
“Alright then that’s where we’re going.”
The grocery store smelled like bad donuts and rust, and the old ladies working there stared at the three boys mesmerized.
“Well,” Dean blurted to try cut the creepy feel, “Who wants ice cream? Ben and Jerry’s?”
“Dean we’re about to be in a car for another few hours. We should just get snacks.”
“You don’t want ice cream?” Dean gasped, offended.
“Dean- I’m sure Sam would love ice cream,” Cas interjected hoping a physical fight wouldn’t break out, “but it’ll melt and everything is just gonna get real messy, so take that into consideration, okay?” His hands gestured in a way that showed that he didn’t want to be part of a fight.
“Ok, one Moose Tracks Ben and Jerry’s coming right up for my man Sammy. We’ll make it work,” Dean winked at both Sam and Cas as he took a rather large bucket into his arms and placed it into the cart, smiling ridiculously. Cas giggled a little and Sam couldn’t think why on earth he would laugh about this.
“Well I’m going to the car so bye”
“You can’t go out there! It’s dangerous!” Dean half-yelled half hissed.
Sam was gone by now and Cas had stopped smiling and Dean rolled his eyes and kept walking until he reached to the end of the isle to grab a bag of plastic spoons.
------------------------ “Hey, Sam? Could you get me another spoon?”
“We should just bring metal ones next time.”
“Didn’t he tell you that last time we got ice cream?”
“Shut up Cas. I don’t remember.”
“What do you mean there aren’t anymore?”
The drive was getting bumpy and humid and wet, the ice cream being held in place outside Dean’s leg and Cas’ was beginning to melt, Sam had to squat to get over the seat and into the bucket to get ice cream, but the three kept eating the biggest spoonfuls. Soon enough they were halfway and Dean almost totalled the car after closing his eyes and moaning about how good the ice cream was and really, Sam was not happy at all. He flew back and choked himself with the spoonful of ice cream. Cas looked so offended, mouth wide open, eyebrows sewn together and ice cream in his eyelashes and nostrils.
“No Cas you hold tight I got this.”
“How about if Cas feeds you?” He was still trying to wipe the ice cream off himself and his surroundings.
“Hey, Sam that is a smart idea.”
Soon enough that was really happening.
“Cas feed me with your spoon, mine is really sticky and short.”
“Dean that sounds so stupid stop.”
“You don’t have to be that way Sam,” Dean smirked and Cas was still feeding him from his spoon.
“OK stop guys you’re acting all weird now.”
The next afternoon, they’d arrived to Fresno, which meant a few more hours until they actually arrive to San Francisco. Sam was still asleep, Dean had been listening to the radio and Cas was blindfolded to shield his eyes from the California sun.
“About three hours left everyone.”
“Boys, just one more hour.”
“We’re here Baby! San Fran!”
The motel they’d gone to was mediocre, food was worse, but Dean was giddy and anyone could tell his face probably ached from smiling so much, but that concert really had him hyped.
“Tonight by seven you better be in the car, capisce?”
Soon enough it was seven, the boys were in the car and the drive was fast. Sam hadn’t paid attention to the entrance and Cas had his eyes shut.
“Tickets please” the man at the booth said, sweating and angry.
“Quick open your eyes Cas!”
A loud scream could be heard. Sam knew it belonged to none but Castiel, the 27 year old in front of him.
“You didn’t! Oh my god let’s go. We NEED to get to the front!”
Sam was confused and not as fast paced at this point. His body had a hard time swinging out the door like Dean and Cas did.
They had gotten there a little late, but managed to get a good view. The music began to play and Sam was surprised that Dean and Cas just watched the woman perform, that they weren’t singing along or jumping and screaming like everyone else.
He’s got the fire and he walks with fame
He’s got the fire and he talks with fame
Sam watched the boys as their fingers began to intertwine. He was awfully confused, but he chose to ignore it. He’d realized how happy they’d looked under the pink neon lights. The next song she played was Sam’s favorite so he’d try to watch the singer on stage. He was glad Dean hadn’t told him he’d be coming here.
Kiss me hard before you go
But Sam’s eyes widened in shock when he saw the two boys kiss then.
“I’m not going anywhere baby,” Whispered Cas, and Sam was close enough to him to hear it.
