Does co Conquest still live in an empty cube? I kinda like to imagine Robin offhandedly making it better without really thinking about it. Maybe give him some souvenirs from her planetary adventures. Like its still a sad little cube but in the corner Conquest keeps his prized possession- the skull of an alien Robin killed and brought to him as a gift like some sort of cat. Thats it thats the only possession he has that matters at all to him. When she gave it to him she told him all about how she killed it using a technique she learned from fighting him. Other options are Robin visiting with paint and making pictures on the walls. Conquest watches her do it and it confuses the heck out of him but like hell is he going to ask her what the purpose of this "art" is. If he did that she might stop. He loves the little window she painted on the wall over his sleep spot the most. Some nights he stares at it for hours. Maybe she could loot a damn bed for the man. Claim that since she got it from an alien warlord she defeated in combat it's totally valid for her to claim it and give it to him. I just kinda like the idea of these small seeming meaningless gestures in Robin's eyes being real tangible proof that she's made Conquest's life better. That she is the first person to be his friend. Also because that proof will make her 'death' all the more painful. Now he hates the skull, now he can't look at the walls, now he wishes he never knew what it was like to sleep in that comfy bed.
I'll admit all my knowledge of The Cube comes from a few panels I've seen on tumblr (...other than the cube movie, I saw that way too young and was promptly mildly traumatised :) not as bad as final destination 3 got me tho), I'm honestly surprised he even has that much?
idk I just figured most Viltrumites don't even have a place of their own. Rambles because it's fun to play with their culty mindsets
could you elaborate more on what you think about Luke's relationship with his friends? You saidd you see him wanting to be alone more but do you think that's a wish/desire (with him wanting to follow in Anakin's steps being incompatible with being beside his friends all the time) or more like he doesn't see himself in their lives with the passing of time?
Hm, this is a curious question
I think as a friend Luke is like a wild cat that comes and goes as it pleases, and you just have to accept it If he wants your company - he'll come to you, and if he doesn't, then you probably won't reach him, unless you're in serious trouble We're talking about a guy who just left to live in a swamp with a talking frog for a few months, without ever notifying his friends where he's going and why I'm surprised they didn't flat out consider him dead after this It's not the only time he does it, in the run of Star Wars (2015) it's just his MO One time he actually does ask to leave, and it's because he considers himself too dangerous to be around people, so, this is probably a factor as well (Star Wars (2015), Issue 4) I don't think he ever stops considering himself a danger to others, because the goalpost of "good enough to stick around" always moves further and further the more he learns As per reasons: partially because of the ones you listed, and mainly because Luke is someone who likes to be alone with his own thoughts, he needs personal space, a lot of it Wanting to be like his father and learn more about jedi culture does make him unavailable a lot of times, but his fixation on Lara Crofting across the galaxy aside, it's more the case of him not exactly wanting to be close with them In ESB Luke has an opportunity to use his ship after Yoda pulled it out of the water to contact them and share the news He chooses not to, because he doesn't see the necessity of it, until they're in danger Not seeing a place to himself is probably the biggest reason why, because, realistically, the more time goes by, the less Luke has in common with most "normal people", if he ever did at all He was bullied by most of his peers as a kid, so it's logical he expects that other people will judge and make fun of him, not make friends He often remarks that he "sticks out like a sore thumb", attributing it to growing up on Tatooine Later he becomes a scholar, surrounding himself with books and artifacts, and seeking answers in the Force, but he doesn't really have anyone to share this with - neither Han nor Leia are interested in such, his father is dead, and he simply doesn't look for new friendships () This puts distance between him and most other people, who don't have a strong connection with the force (or simply don't care about it, like Leia doesn't) and it makes him even more "unreachable" Luke is also not a person who's interested in banal realities of everyday life, even if he does find some comfort in it - he wants extraordinary, he wants adventure, he wants to explore the galaxy and more than anything he's eager to learn, so common talking points aren't interesting to him, and his interests are boring to most other people There's something anachronistic about him because of it, and I think it also makes him "too strange" for other people to attempt to interact anyway, and this has an effect too, because Luke can tell others avoid him as much as he avoids them It probably was always the case to a degree, the only "friend group" he had as a kid consisted of people who called him Wormie and acted like they're better than him, and he considered Biggs his best friend simply because Biggs wasn't mean to him and they both loved tech and space travel (this is from "The Life of Luke Skywalker" by Ryder Windham) With time this issue of him "not fitting in" became only more apparent, and he just took it as a given It also goes in line with the fact that he wanted to find his father so much, since he believed his father is the only person "like him" who can "get him" In short: Luke's definition of friendship in general appears to be vague and rudimentary - "I help you, you help me", he doesn't see possibility of something more for himself He's grateful to have friends, but he's also grateful that they let him keep the distance he finds necessary Hope this was insightful in some way!
Some lil guys I sketched the other day
