Fluffy July Day 27 @fluffyjuly Relationship: Chuya & Lovecraft (Bungo Stray Dogs)
-
A restless beast. Four-legged and with pitch black fur, it paced back and forth. Its form seemed to waver. Was it made of fire? Black smoke? Maybe it couldn't decide,or maybe it just never knew in the first place. It continued to pace, getting more agitated.
It didn't know its name, nor did it have a personality. There was but a single thought the beast could seem to produce: destroy. It quivered with rage in its cell. Any little weak spot would do. It'd slip right out and finally cause the calamity it so desired.
Crack.
What was that? The beast turned towards the noise. Something was happening outside. Something that made it vibrate with anticipation.
Shatter!
Finally! It burst free of its cage with only one thought. Destroy! Destroy! DESTROY!
Without much care, the beast jumped. Where? It didn't matter. Anywhere was better than this cage.
Silly beast. Foolish thing. It leapt from the prison and directly into two swirling blue orbs. What were they? It didn't know.
Trapped once more, though not without repercussions. It could hear all the things happening on the outside. Explosion. Devastation. Massive carnage the likes of which no one had ever seen before.
For the first time ever, the beast's mouth twisted into a sinister smirk.
Chuya gasped as he woke abruptly. He blinked while the last bits of dream faded from his mind. He put a gloved hand over his eyes and muttered, "What the hell?"
"Are you all right, Arahabaki?" Asked a soft, curious voice.
Chuya's eyes snapped open. There was a hand on his shoulder. What the...?
Suddenly, he remembered what he'd just been doing. He turned towards his companion to see the dark-haired, dark-eyed man tilt his head curiously. Of course he used the term "man" loosely. The creature in human skin was a liar- just like him.
Chuya shut his eyes, cleared his throat, then said, "Guess that wine earlier knocked me out for a bit."
Lovecraft stared unblinking and replied, "You seemed distressed."
"Yeah, well, I guess I had a kind of nightmare," Chuya admitted. There was no point in trying to lie to the other man. He'd get the truth out of him eventually.
"Ah." Lovecraft said mostly to himself. He tilted his head backwards slowly, until it was at what looked like a painful angle. His long locks that were plastered to his head and looked wet even though he was not near any water swung slowly. His pose remained the same but his eyes shifted towards the redhead when he continued, "I know him."
"Him who?" Chuya asked.
"The one who presides over what you refer to as nightmares," Lovecraft explained.
Chuya watched as the guy picked up one of the cute little bear-shaped cookies that he'd had given him when they met for this, er, he hesitated to say playdate, but...
"He consumes the emotions humans feel in reaction to the nightmares he creates." Lovecraft explained. He tossed the cookie into his mouth and swallowed it whole.
"Sounds like a really great guy," Chuya snorted. Boy, he'd love to give someone like that a piece of his mind. And foot.
Lovecraft picked up two of the bear cookies and started to dance them in the air. His tone remained unchanged when he said, "Neither great nor terrible, he simply is. Always has been and always will be."
Ah, one of those types then. Chuya rolled his eyes. He looked at the empty wine bottles on the table. Tempting but maybe he needed to find some water first. Chuya massaged his temples. Really, this was too much right now.
"I can ask him to move on from you, if you'd like," Lovecraft offered.
Chuya raised a curious eyebrow at his eccentric companion. "Meaning what exactly?"
"Hmm." Lovecraft squeezed his hand into a fist and crushed both cookies into dust. He sprinkled the powder into his mouth then replied, "No more nightmares."
Surprised, Chuya found himself too curious not to ask, "And what do you want from me in return? No one does something like that for free."
Lovecraft was silent while he thought about it. His gaze wandered over the tribute brought to this meeting of theirs. Wine, food, conversation. All good. The only thing he could say he desired was more. He finally looked back at the redhead again and said, "Companionship. New human tributes to discover."
"I think I can manage that," Chuya said mostly to himself. Really it was no different than what they were already doing when they met up like this.
Lovecraft took the entire pack of cookies and devoured it in one fell swoop- packaging and all. He stood after that and muttered, "Then I will go right away." He took a single step, paused, then slowly turned back towards his companion.
He began to tilt his head so slowly that it was genuinely uncomfortable to witness. This continued for far longer than anyone would ever want to watch. It finally ended when it reached an unnerving angle which would look broken to anyone that saw it.
His eyes were wide and unblinking, the massively dilated pupils beyond unsettling when he asked, "Do you want to come with me?"
"Where exactly?" Chuya asked right back.
Lovecraft motioned vaguely with his arm when he replied, "To the deepest, darkest depths of-"
"No thanks," Chuya cut him off. He held up a hand and shook his head. "I'll just see you when you get back."
"Very well." Lovecraft agreed. "I will contact you in the usual manner."
"Or, stay with me on this, you could try using a less creepy way to get in touch," Chuya replied without missing a beat. Even after knowing the guy for so long he could not say he was ok with feeling what was essentially tentacles in his brain. So gross.
Lovecraft ignored him completely. He continued to walk away and muttered, "Farewell."
With that Chuya sucked his teeth and rolled his eyes. He watched as what was the strangest being he'd ever known slowly meandered off. Wherever he was headed could not have been pleasant so he did silently wish him well.
Chuya sighed and shook his head. Then he looked back at the table. It was in complete disarray. Well shit. The guy made a mess then left without cleaning once again. Damn pain in the ass.
