nb4 the inevitable “OP is a fairy” jokes (as if I don’t know what y’all think of me already), but in this online ecosystem of aliases and pseudo-obfuscation, there’s something that feels really special about someone sharing their name with you. Obviously platforms like Facebook try to require legal names and stuff and that impulsion corrupts both the requirement and the spirit behind it, but in places like, well like here, where someone may be wildly notorious under a pseudonym or an alias totally divorced from their identity otherwise, being willingly entrusted with that knowledge of a person just feels meaningful.
