tell us about the no operator hoodie and masky

NOW HERES some shared headcanons

the first time hoody and masky met is because brian and tim were bonding over both having DID for the first time

this is a Loaded Topic what with cause and effect so with hoody and masky already being alert because the body is, they wanted to switch

brian and tim each write quick messages to their respective alters

they wake up five hours later on the floor both wearing masks and surrounded by excited scribbles of codes and notes

'i guess they get along just fine huh!'

hoody prefers to cover his face, but you cant wear masks in public in alabama, so he has to stick to sunglasses and medical masks

he doodles on all of them

maskys logic is 'the cops cant get you for wearing a mask if youre faster than the cops and also in the woods'

hoody teaches masky binary and masky persuades him to learn more asl

they like to go exploring in sPoOkY places together

masky is the only person who gets to touch hoodys hands while hes not wearing gloves

some backstory that is Important: in non operator aus, i headcanon tim to be psychic, and he meets a lotta ghosts in rosswood park as a kid, and one in Particular who he likes a lot with a white face, black lipstick, really dramatic black eyeshadow and a bloody nose, and the ghost cant remember his own name, so tim comes up with masky.

i also headcanon tim to live alone with his very strict catholic mom out in the middle of nowhere, who emotionally abuses and neglects him and refuses him treatment outside of psych wards, which is why he keeps coming back to them

on one such visit, a nurse makes the observation that whenever tim goes nonverbal, he acts much differently, and doesn't really seem to answer to his name. one day she asks if hes tim. he says no.

hes an introject of ghost masky, who is the only 'person' that tim really trusts

hes mute, so the nurse who first properly meets him teaches him and tim asl

he Really Enjoys sitting on surfaces that he shouldnt be able to reach

he takes over whenever tim is stressed or anxious or answering lots of questions about their life and timeline, which tim easily forgets

the same nurse is really into arts and crafts and gives him the mask for two reasons: 1), masky prefers to cover his face, and 2), it makes telling the difference between tim and masky easier

he plays the role of protector, and since he mainly takes over when tim is hurt or upset, he fronts less often once tim moves out to go to college

HOODY TIME

i hc brian to have had two dads and an abundance of siblings, him being around the oldest at around 11 when one of his dads fall ill, and on top of the stress of a parent slowly dying and taking care of his younger siblings, brian also gets Severely Bullied for having two dads. hoody forms as less of a Protector and more an Escape Artist, and it takes until theyre in high school for someone to notice that theres been a change, since hoody almost exclusively fronts at school/in public

hes mute

brian knows asl but hoody refuses to learn anything but a few key phrases

hes named that way because brians nickname after toy story came out was woody

him and brian didnt really start getting along until senior year of high school when they were finally getting steady counseling

hoody spent every single recess and lunch period in the library near the limited code section until he pestered a librarian into letting him borrow a school computer to Learn

brian was used to opening up his backpack at home and finding it full of notebooks stuffed to the brim with cryptic notes

(he didnt tell hoody until college but he actually had a fun time solving some of them)

hoody is fluent in binary, knock, morse and one or two base codes

once brian started being able to handle classes again and hoody doesnt need to front as much, he refuses to communicate in anything but Some Form of code
