Midas could feel his skin turning. The emotional distress - losing his family - he couldn’t handle it. He was already crying. Meowscles stood in front of Skye. Fists clenched, fingernails digging into his palms. He was basically screaming at them, begging and crying.
“You know me! Why would I do that!” He was a mess, not a leader anymore. Perhaps not even their family. Skye was hugging herself tightly. To think the person she trusted with her life most flooded their home. The woods, factory, so many homes..Tina takes a steps forward, in front of Skye, protective.
“Midas.. You showed me the blue prints, the plan.. They were in your room and you used them. It’s just that simple.” He was too choked up to even speak. The gold crawled up it arms at an alarmingly fast pace.
“No! They took my plans, they took me!” Skye watches her brother Midas fall apart between Meowscles and Tina’s arms. She pushes her head in between them.
“Shadow?” Midas looks up and smiles.
“Yes! Exactly! Bedlam can shapeshift!” Tina groans.
“Oh, come on!” Meowscles agrees with an annoyed meow. “Shapeshifting can’t be possible!”
“Well, Bedlam is, like, not human-” Tina turns back at the little girl speaking up.
“Skye!” Skye opens her mouth to speak up, but Tina interrupts and turns back to Midas. “Okay, my only priority is making sure Skye is safe. This is something we need to talk about without you.” Tina grabs Skye’s arm, Meowscles turning around with her, walking away.
Midas panics. He mind screams, trying to find something to make them believe him, trust him. He doesn’t think and just yells out.
“Skye, your favorite color is green!” The girl twists her head to look back, the two holding her didn’t budge. “Meowscles has a secret yarn ball he tries to hide under his pillow, but everyone knows about it!” Midas trips, trying to follow after them. Saying anything to get them to stop, to listen.
“Skye, don’t listen to him.” Skye looks up at Tina. She’s not happy about the decision either, it hurts her and Meowscles as well. But they all need time to think. So, she gives up and walks with them.
It hurt all parties, but Midas the most. His family walking away. Nowhere to turn, to live. No family, friends, job, home. He’s left with nothing. He stops and just watches them walk away.
Skye’s head is hung, Meowscles’ tail is clinging to his legs and butt. Midas feels sick. He hates himself. He should’ve been more careful, should’ve destroyed the instructions and blueprints.
He’s alone. He’s empty. He doesn’t know what to do.
