He had to find somewhere. He had to find someplace okay, someone who could help. Someone good. He could feel the Juubi rummaging through his mind, reliving and discarding long repressed memories in a blink. It was searching too, trying to help, if only to keep its host, and itself, safe.
Then he heard a boy’s voice. With a jolt, he realized it was his own voice, calling back to him: I believe the White Fang is a true hero.
He shook his head. Hatake Sakumo was already long dead, overwhelmed by a world of hatred. Reviving him now would be of little help.
But the words repeated again. And again. The White Fang is a true hero. And the memories went back further, circling around his youngest years, his days at the Academy.
If he could go back—
He looked at his hands, himself transformed; with the Juubi, he lost the limitations of his former self, of any self. He had the planet’s chakra at his disposal. He could already command space, so why not time?
He could go back.
Obito was no hero. But if he could start at the beginning again, if he could save one person from hatred, maybe Obito could be saved, too.
