The Boys - Brickfield Nights
Firstly, I am a sucker for any song that employs the “boom, ba-boom SNARE” beat. Secondly, I love the way this track manages to balance bristling anger and wistful melancholia.
The Boys were right on the cusp of the switch from pub-rock to punk-rock. They made a great racket. How can you not love a band with members named Honest John Plain, Matt Dangerfield, Casino Steel, and Jack Black (not that one)?
I think I’ll work on an electro-pop cover of this. That could be nifty…
