Uni Boys opening for Paul Collins. A great night of power pop. Quad P would be proud. Kilowatt bar in SF. I was secretly hoping Peter Case would pop in. Alas.

Riff after mothereffing riff.
Great to hear these songs again. They could really write a catchy anthem.

Bob Seger. Back In ‘72
The one with Rosalie on it! As a Thin Lizzy fan, I’m chuffed to finally have this. It came to me in the mail as a surprise for my birthday.

Imagine trying to make a Bob Dylan album, but only being able to deliverBeatle caliber melodies in a charmingly scratchy alto....
The Magnolias rock.
Recently enjoyed. I acquired this from my parents long ago and recently (re?)visited it after I just listened to a great podcast* about him and his tragic life. His career was also BadFingeresque in that his two biggest hits were someone else doing his song and him doing someone else’s song rather than him doing his own.
This is a great album of great songs. Side one delivers timeless classic after timeless classic. Especially Lady Came From Baltimore, which I’ve sung to my kids and enjoyed Rusty Willoughby’s version of. Side two hits a jazzy bump, then rewards with Its Hard To Believe In Love For Long, which is excellent.
