also kind of belated but i just realized i never gave a full run-down of what’s happened with altira and dohvan and ae/renn
The start of it is Altira coming to Alternia to search for Dohvan, who was on-planet to find his descendants. She intended to kill him and take his place as General, or convince him to step down and remain at her side.
Rennra, who had hacked into the Fleet systems to find Hera’s hive (due to a different occurrence all together), gets found out by Altira and promptly employed by her under threat of exposing him.
Through him Altira discovers Aelynn and decides to use both of them for her schemes. Altira soon after discovers that Aelynn is Vocali, a highly anti-Empire mass serial killer.
Using various things as leverage, Altira manipulates the two of them into doing more or less what she wants. Eventually Aelynn asks Altira to start training her. Altira obliges.
Altira then kidnaps Anirus, a friend of Aelynn’s, to goad Aelynn in a final ‘test’. Aelynn knocks Altira out and escapes with Ani, and attempts to bring them back to the village. Altira, as an extra kicker, bombs the village before they can return. This infuriates Aelynn and she refuses to continue training under her.
Rennra finds Dohvan, and Altira goes after him. She takes out Nine beforehand to keep him from interfering. Dohvan guts her and leaves her for dead.
Things settle for a time; Saidyr comes from Dohvan’s fleet to work with Altira.
Aelynn is killed and returns as a ghoul, and with her newfound strength, decides to kill Altira.
Altira shatters Saidyr’s arms to keep her from alerting Dohvan, whom she found without Rennra’s help, and goes after him again. Before she can find him, Aelynn finds her, and they begin to fight.
During the fight, Altira is shot in the face by Nine, allowing Aelynn to deal the final blow. Her all-seeing eye, under the eyepatch, is hit and severely damaged- In the split second before being hit, Altira saw the eyes of her ancestor/lusus as she removed the all-seeing eye to avoid it getting damaged.
The all-seeing eye was gifted by Altira’s lusus/ancestor, rather than being natural voodoos, as Altira thought her entire life. She wasn’t even aware her lusus wasn’t an ordinary dragon.
Altira is killed, and Aelynn leaves. Altira’s lusus and ancestor ([REDACTED]), an ancient shapeshifter, pulls Altira’s soul from her body and ties her to the planet as an immortal ghost.
In the aftermath, Dohvan returns to active duty and pulls Rennra aside to clear a few things up.
[REDACTED], now without any descendants due to Altira killing all of them, decides to adopt Aelynn and Rennra.
And that’s where we’re at now :P
