Dear Reema,
How has life been treating you? I hope you and your family have been well! In this letter, I wrote about some random things I remember and appreciate about you! Recalling everything and writing them out is kind of therapeutic in a way. It helps me find some sort of closure to our college days, seeing as how abrupt and strange it ended because of COVID-19. I did hope I could write this letter by hand and give it to you in person, but seeing how things are going, I’m not sure if we’ll have a graduation party any time soon. Nevertheless, I hope we get to meet sometime in the future and see how we’ve grown as people!
My very first memory of you:
I surprisingly can't remember how we first met, but I'm guessing it's most likely through Rahaf. I do remember thinking that your name is unique though because I met lots of Reems but never Reemas.
My most favorite thing about you:
I really like your carefree and chill personality. You always seem to be laughing and having fun with others.
Something that reminds me of you:
I associate you with shoujo mangas ever since you told me you like them. I also associate you with the anime Violet Evergarden!
Something about you that makes me proud:
I'm always amazed at how good you are at participating during class. It really shows that you're great at thinking through problems. I'm also really amazed at how much you know of the Quran mashaAllah. It makes me want to become like you!
A few ways that we’re radically different:
I don't think I'm as good with words as you are. You're really good at going with the flow during conversations.
Where I see you being in 20 years:
I personally feel like you're a family person, so if I had to think how your future would look like, I'd say you'd be a wonderful mother.
A shower of gratitude:
Thank you for always being my partner during Islamic classes! I remember it was fun translating and figuring out the dictionary with you. Thank you for revising with me for a test that I didn't study well for. One of the questions came up in the exam and I managed to answer it because of you! Finally, thank you for the cookies you gave me once. I was hungry at the time and it basically saved me haha.
One deep dark secret that you don’t know about:
Once, while we were chatting, I lost focus on what you were saying because I saw my friend from afar. My mind was really focused on that friend instead of listening to our conversation, and that made me feel extremely guilty afterwards. Maybe you'll find it silly, but I still feel bad for it. I genuinely apologize for that.
Though it has been short, thank you for everything during these past years! May your future be filled with happiness, success, and good health. With lots of love, Areej Aldosary
