Drabble|| Losing a friend gaining a lover|| Eric & Nina
It was her graduation day. The day she would finally leave the hell that they called school, but that also meant that she would leave him behind. Nina didn’t like that feeling of loneliness, and regret.
Regret.
That is what she felt for never telling what she felt for him. In the past she used to say those three words so easily. Everything seemed so easy back then, but they had grown distant from each other.
She didn’t know the reason why they did. Had she done something wrong ? Nina had tried to break through those walls multiple times, but it only made him avoid her more.
She had lost her friend, her hanker that held her down, and his warm embrace that she called home. He wasn’t the only one that had changed. She had too in a way when her mother had died, and her so-called step - father walked away from them when the situation had gotten worse. She had lost her interest in school causing her to skip a few times, and working on different jobs at night to pay the rent of the house didn’t help her case either.
Nina entered the school’s entrance with the other students, and pushed through the crowd trying to find him, her greenish eyes darting everywhere. She had to tell him what she felt for him before it was too late. No, she needed to tell him.
'Eric' Nina moved her mouth, but no words came out. [I can't do it.] She ran away from him as her courage disapeared. Nina heard the sounds of footsteps behind her making her turn around the corner. She wasn't in the mood to talk. Why didn't they get that ?
An hand grasped her arm making her halt. “Wait..Nina, why did you run away ? ” He breathed out. The voice made a gasp escape from her mouth. Nina turned around, and gulped. Had they changed so much that he couldn’t tell something was bothering her ?
She licked her dry lips, her heart hammering in her chest. “Do you remember when I used to tell you.. that I loved you without knowing its meaning.” Nina asked him, in mere whisper. She looked at him, her eyes brimming with tears. ” What happened - what made us act like strangers towards each other.” His hand brushed her tears away gently as he looked at her sadly.” I don’t know..” He responded.
[ I was afraid of hurting you like i’m doing now..]
Nina gathered her courage. She wasn’t this girl, who ran away and she didn’t want to become one.
" You once told me that people needed act on their feelings instead of telling them. The first thought that came to my mind then was to slap you hard for making me feel like this, but I knew you were suffering too..so I chose the second one instead."
Eric looked at her confused. ” What do you mean second -” His back hit the wall, and her lips pressed hard against his before he could end his question. Nina sighed contently when he kissed her back, his arms wrapping tightly around her.
They broke apart after a while. Both out of breath, but Eric couldn’t help the cheeky grin on his face as Nina blushed. ” I kinda liked this second option.” He chuckled, his comment making her turn even redder than before. Nina frowned at his teasing. ” You know that I could always go back to the first one, don’t you ? ” She muttered as she looked away shyly.
"No, thank you." He responded rapidly, his reaction made her laugh.. Nina had missed this, she had missed him.
