“You’re a complete moron,” Sander laughed, shaking his head.
His eyes shifted over Robbe’s warm brown ones as they sparkled with a growing smile forming on his lips. Robbe’s hands were in mid-air showing him they were empty as he flickered his fingers.
“What, you don’t like my magic tricks?” he pouted.
“I like you,” Sander answered, leaning forward on the kitchen table with his eyes heavy-lidded, a slow smile growing on his face.
“Soooo...code for: you don’t like my magic tricks,” Robbe gave him a look, all in teasing fun.
“They’re not that impressive, babe. Show me a new one,” he said.
They both sat at the kitchen table with the sunlight peeking through the window, their hair shining browns and reds. Sander’s had grown out longer now, and at this point Robbe found it unfair how effortlessly tousled it looked. He thought it astonishing that he could look this beautiful even when he was criticizing his magic.
“Fine,” Robbe huffed, scraping the chair a little as he got up and searched for a pack of cards. He came back with his fingers meticulously shuffling them over and over again, lips curving.
“I’m gonna tell you what card I’m holding up without having looked at it,” he said sitting back down.
Sander nodded earnestly, eager to give him his attention and play along.
“Ace of hearts.”
“Nine of diamonds.”
“Two of spades.”
He was correct in each one as he held up the cards away from his face but in front of Sander’s so he could see. Sander watched him for a while until he breathed in, his eyelids still heavy with nonchalance.
“Okay, how are you doing that?” he asked.
“A magician never tells his secret, don’t you know that?”
“No, this is an easy one, I can feel it. Teach me,” Sander stuck out his bottom lip at him.
“Sorry, no can do. You called this trick easy,” Robbe smiled and shrugged as he stood up from the chair shuffling the cards once again.
“Robin,” Sander complained. “You know what else is easy?” a smirk grew across his lips. Robbe had just reached across the kitchen to the counter before he felt his hands grab his waist. And with the help of Robbe intuitively knowing his intentions, he swiftly lifted him up on the counter, heels digging into the cabinets below.
Sander gave him a kiss, languid and lingering, enough to make his toes curl in the hazy natural light.
“Mmmmh, won’t work,” said Robbe, though his face was telling a different story.
“Not even if I do this?” Sander dove for his neck, breath misty against his skin, teeth dragging across his pulse point. He felt Robbe run his fingers through his hair and shiver under the touch.
“No,” he breathed out.
Sander slipped his fingers under his shirt, cold fingers causing him to flinch. The effect that he had on Robbe was one he couldn’t ever really describe. It was always burning fire, intense sparks, then a slow settling of heartbeats in the calming touch of each other. It was a whole magic of its own.
And Robbe was hating how stubborn he felt about the fact that all of this, Sander’s magnificent touch, was actually working on him.
“Fuck you,” he muttered as Sander leaned away to check on him.
“Is that a request?” he smirked in response.
Robbe swatted his hands away as he quickly leapt off the counter. He left Sander’s hands in the air, losing his grip. Grabbing the deck of cards again and shuffling them in his long fingers, he took a seat back down on the table.
“Come here,” Robbe called him. “I’ll show you the trick.”
