I reblogged a couple posts regarding this but I wanted to share what’s going on as well. Puerto Rico has been shaking since Christmas week. The epicenter is the very same plate at the south of the island, by Guánica. This morning was the strongest quake so far, a 6.7 on the scale. My family and I are okay but we’re all paranoid, shit’s looking bad. There was a confirmed death and many important buildings—schools, churches—are starting to crumble. The greedy are doing what they’re good at and raising the prices of basic necessities and boarding passes for their gain. All we can do is stay posted and stay alert.

Update 7ene20 6:56pm: officials are yet to re-establish electricity in the island. I think everyone is still in the dark, unless they have emergency generators. It’s still shaking but I personally haven’t felt anything in the North.

Update 8ene20 10:30am: electricity has been restored in around 500,000 households. Officials said the power services will be “wonky” (for lack of a better word; i just woke up) for the next few weeks. Guánica is a wasteland. Most schools aren’t safe enough to reopen yet.
