oh man. oh, you have touched on something that I am a profound fangirl about. I used to live in Vegas and we stayed at the Rio once, and saw their show (it is the only reason I want to return to Vegas, it was one of the best experiences of my life, and I have also seen Cirque and La Reve and a handful of other shows,this topped them all), but I could have met them both after BUT WAS TOO SHY.

Seriously, though, Teller just has one of the most amazing minds, and his grasp of theatre and direction is so stunning and impressive to me (he directs a lot of Shakespeare and also directed Tim's Vermeer which I SHOULD STREAM IT IS A FANTASTIC MOVIE)

As much as I adore Teller, I do need to be honest about Penn, though. I have his books, I listen to his podcast every week, and he is just one of the people in the world who I have immeasurable personal respect for. People tout Dawkins and Harris and Dennet and Hitchens as the Four Horsemen of the atheist movement, but while I respect their brilliance, I have very little interest in any of them as personal heroes. Too much about them is intently problematic, I find I disagree with some of their views to the point that I have difficulty with viewing them as humanist. And not a single one of them is as compassionate, humble and deeply thoughtful as Penn Jillette, while at the same time being an utter jackass. This is my aspiration, to be a compassionate, humble, and deeply thoughtful jackass. He is utterly and totally one of my heroes, he delights and astounds me, and preaches love and kindness and a straight and honest view of the world. He's a wonderful father, a passionate educator, and an entertainer to his very core. I adore him.
