The newest patrons of the Palais Garnier: the Okilo sisters!
(they sit in box five, per the managers’ gracious, yet suspicious request.)
I wanted to make an AU where instead of leaving Germany, the Okilo family stays in Europe and their daughters become the latest patrons of the Palais Garnier!
From applauding the ballerinas after a routine done well (which is new), poking fun at gawking guests, and teasing the managers for writing to them under such a silly alias (Who even is the ‘Opera Ghost’?), the girls have a lot of fun shaking things up!

ADZO (or Ida by Ann + her parents) is the Okilo families’ second oldest daughter. She was three when her family fractured and split from Germany to Ghana. With Ann across seas, she takes up responsibility as eldest daughter. She’s a master at putting on a smile when it feels like the sky is falling, which makes her great at handling family business. She’ll do anything for her family and is wary of those who seek to swindle or disrespect them.
AMA, Ann’s youngest sister has lived in Ghana her entire life. She’s quick-witted, bashful, and heroic. She lives at home with her parents, helps out neighbors, and hangs out with friends! With her parents’ getting older she’s spending more time with them, learning her family heritage, and becoming closer to them every day.
BENVOLIO is a French librarian and poet, though his works are yet to be published. He’s nervous, polite, and a daydreamer. He loves escaping to the books he reads and finds himself at home in the bookshop he works at. He is Ann’s closest friend, but there are some things he’ll never know. After his mother’s passing, Ben’s dad has been teaching how to run the store in his absence as well.
ELEONORE, Ann’s childhood friend and first love. Eleonore’s mother and father worked for the Okilo family, which led to the two spending most of the childhood together. Sweet kisses and young love didn’t dwindle when they were teenagers, and the two began putting words to the love they had found. Eleonore’s family moved back to Poland, but the two promised to meet again someday.
CECE, “the protector of prostitutes” and card-carrying member of the Polite Women’s Society! Cece is a soft-spoken, compassionate woman, happily wed to her husband of 20 years. She walked the streets when she was younger, now she wants to ensure the safety of the girls who can’t work in state-controlled brothels. She looks after Ann like a mother, caring, and thrown-off by Ann’s unladylike antics at times.
