Hero Form Appearance: A combo of a sea princess’s everyday palace wear and YuYuYu’s Hero Form outfits. The undersuit is a creamy white so that the sashimi can stand out against the rice. The main outfit is an ebi rose that becomes a water lily pink when you reach the lower half of the sleeves, the lower half of the pants, and the tailcoat. Accent colors include gold, silver, gray, black, orange, white, and light red. The shoes, gloves, hair accessories, and belt all have patterns of water lilies, and the only other accessory is a water lily belt charm on her obi. The flower’s petal shape can be seen in the sleeves and tailcoat.

Bio: The young princess of Dragon Palace is clever and crafty, and can be naughty but absolutely knows where the line is, so no one can ever get mad at her. She often takes advantage of her looks to pout and get what she wants, and there is always a bodyguard by her side assigned by the Palace Lord. The bodyguard is said to be for her protection, but more accurately is there to keep her from getting into too much trouble. (And add this if you want: She tries to act cute to the guard but always fails. The castellan and the guard are the only two that she can't handle. Once she sneaked out and was saved by one person, she tried to bring the person back to Dragon Palace, even sent out the guard, but still failed at last.)

A new addition has been placed on my list of Favorite Characters That Are Aquatic Themed in case you couldn't tell lol
Went with sis to Northpoint City to buy a new mobile phone as the display on my current phone went dead. Decided on Sushi Express (爭鮮) for lunch as they just starting the day for business so it wasn’t yet crowded. We started off with a plate of Abalone slices though I am skeptical that this was the real sea snail but the mock version of it. The next plate I picked off the conveyor belt was this Arctic Surf Clam Sushi with its signature red “tongue” or foot. The purple foot, siphon and mantle edge turned brilliant orange-red when cooked.
The Grilled Salmon Belly Sushi 🍣 was one of my favourite as the light searing on the skin enhanced its overall flavours. Somehow I am always drawn to scallops and this duo of Boiled Scallop Sushi ended up in my belly. 😁
While waiting for something nice to pass by me, I took this plate of Crayfish Salad Gunkan which had shredded crayfish 🦞 meat in it. The Shrimp with Sea Urchin Sushi sounded nice but the uni was painted on thinly plus the torched surface works against it so I can’t really tasted it through the charred smokiness.
This Dengaku Miso Yuzu Hotate Sushi was the special item that day. Although the yuzu 🍊 sauce added a refreshing citrusy tone to it, the bitterness of zests take away some points. The fresh succulent scallop was yummy nonetheless.
As usual I enjoyed the popping bursts of umami taste from these Salmon Roe Gunkan. I missed my Hokkaido trips where I scooped heaps of these seasoned ikura over rice during the buffets. The Aburi Salmon Sushi 🍣 was the highlight of the day as the warm seared fish over rice just melt in the mouth. According to the company’s website page, this one is served in limited quantity each day.
I did not expect to find plates of Sweet Shrimp Sashimi circling on the belt. These amaebi 🦐 are pretty expensive in Singapore let alone going for only S$1.50 for five shrimps. Best of all, the shrimps were not sticky, a telltale sign of it being not fresh. The Whelk Sashimi 🐌 was a rare find as the only time I recalled eating it was during one of my trip to Japan. The meat was sweet and crisp with a unique texture.
The Chocolate Cake 🍫🍰 is nothing to shout about but the S$1.50 piece of Blueberry Cheesecake 🫐🍰 was worth all the calories and moolah. Where in Singapore can you find such cheap slices of cheesecake!?

Yo, sushi is delicious. Who knew eating stuff raw was healthy and tasty? I guess the Japanese did. Unlike other shrimp that are cooked before being served, this one is actually served raw to keep the sweet taste its known for. Here’s another ACNH diving friend who’s on the list because it’s a very important food source - the Sweet Shrimp! (And yes, I did, totally follow up the Sweetfish with the Sweet Shrimp on purpose.)
Most of the animals in ACNH that you can catch are pretty damn accurate, not only in how they look (which is where this whole project got started, because GOD DAMN THESE GRAPHICS) but also to behavior. The Sweet Shrimp is available from September to February, so basically all of the “colder” months, as well as being available only during the later parts of the day, mostly at night. This is pretty damn accurate to the Sweet Shrimp in real life! Let’s get into it!
So, as you probably gathered, the Sweet Shrimp is a type of shrimp, but going further into that, did you know there are actually so many classifications of shrimp? The shrimp body plan is pretty common in the Decapod Crustacean world - from this tiny guy all the way up to the giant that is the American Lobster (which is in the game!!!) this long-body-with-a-fan-like-tail-and swimmerettes-underneath is pretty much your standard decapod style. Crabs are actually the odd-men-out with their tails tucked under their bodies. And shrimp come in a bunch of varieties, all separated into different sub-orders and infra-orders. So, no, the Sweet Shrimp is not in the same Suborder as the Tiger Prawn we’ve covered, or even in the same SubClass as the Mantis Shrimp. Instead, the Sweet Shrimp is part of the Infra-Order Caridea, which are actually more closely related to lobsters and crabs than they are to the prawns, like the Tiger Prawn! Ain’t Crustacean biology beautifully surprising and annoying?
Anyway, the Sweet Shrimp is called Amaebi in Japan (and thus, in the Japanese version of ACNH, much like the Sweetfish is called “Ayu” in the Japanese game), and that’s what I’m going to call it for the rest of this entry since it’s easier, but be aware it’s a literal translation (Ama=sweet, ebi=shrimp). It’s typically called “Sweet Shrimp” in reference to its taste in sushi, much like the Ayu. It’s also called the Northern Prawn to be extra confusing, as well as a slew of many other common names depending on the country you live in. The scientific name is Pandalus borealis, but recently the species is suspected to be either two subspecies or two separate species, with the one living in the North Pacific being Pandalus eous (and so, if we wanna get real technical, ACNH’s Amaebi is P. eous. Take from that what you will.)

I said above that ACNH went all out in making this animal’s behaviors in the game super accurate. The reason it’s found during the cold months is because this is a very northern species. Amaebi are found close to the Arctic Circle around Greenland, Northern Japan, the Bering Strait, Russia, etc cold places, at depths ranging from the surface down over 1000m (+4000 feet) where they like the muddy bottom and the temperature ranges around freezing. This also explains why they’re in the ice tank with the Sea Butterfly(Angel), and other Arctic friends.
Amaebi is an incredibly important fishery, and it’s very sustainable! So, if you see Amaebi on the menu, feel free to order it! Amaebi are typically caught during the early stage of their lives while they are still small and male (yes, this is yet another species that switches sex during their lifetime). This stage is when they are at their peak sweetness and are served raw. Larger females with eggs are typically cooked into other dishes. And there you have it! Fascinating stuff, no?
