Sophie Amalienborg burnt down to the ground on 19 April 1689 in a fire which caused many casualties.
It was roughly located where Amalienborg stands today in Copenhagen.

In a snowstorm and heat wave, the Royal Life Guards stand faithfully guarding their painting houses at Amalienborg and look after the Royal Family. With the foundation in 1658, the Life Guard has deep historical roots and has been located at Rosenborg since 1785. The painting houses in their current form can probably be dated all the way back to 1740, when they were used at Christiansborg Castle. From Rosenborg, the guards march every day from the barracks towards Amalienborg until the shift changes at 12 o'clock, where they replace their comrades. The parade goes through the city - often with a music corps - and attracts large numbers of spectators, and it is like being taken out of an adventure. The Life Guard's uniform with the bearskin hat has evolved over 300 years, and e.g. the distinctive blue trousers have been worn since 1822. Parade and shift changes are available in different versions. There is a king's guard, a lieutenant's guard and a palace guard. The King's Guard is the most comprehensive and takes place when H.M. The queen is staying at Amalienborg. A mansion guard is characterized by the fact that no one from the Royal Family lives at Amalienborg at the time in question. H.M. The Queen resides in Christian 9.s Palace, D.K.H. The Crown Prince Couple in Frederik VIII's Palace, while D.K.H. Prince Joachim and Princess Marie as well as H.K.H. Princess Benedict uses Christian VIII's Palace, where the museum is also located. In addition to the size of the shift change, it is also indicated who from the Royal Family resides at Amalienborg using different flags. Here you have to look for whether the King's Flag, the Throne Successor's Flag, the Rigsforstanderflaget or the Royal House's flag are waving over Amalienborg's black roofs. If only the split flag is set, no one from the Royal Family lives in the mansions at Amalienborg at the moment. #denkongeligelivgarde #livgarden #amalienborgpalace #amalienborg #cobblestonestreets #cobblestones #københavnerliv #kobenhavn #mitkbh #copenhagen🇩🇰 #denmark🇩🇰 https://www.instagram.com/p/Cd5cHefMPJk/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
