Music's ability to encapsulate a moment in time with generally positive feelings is an experience most are well aware of, but the sudden randomness of it all has always fascinated me. As I dealt with the delightful experience of a flight cancellation throughout today, a song called 'Illuminate' started playing on my SoundCloud. I had no previous knowledge of the producer, LUUUL, or the vocalist, Amanda Roi, but became immediately entranced by what I was hearing.
Haunting synths match Amanda's vocal tone to create a perfectly balanced minimalistic performance with a chorus worthy of several emoji prayer hands. I could have spent hours looking for a song to better match my emotions in that moment, but would have never come close. Maybe randomness is, in fact, the key component. Either way I appreciate this song for giving off some warmth on an otherwise snowy, cold day. 'Illuminate' is part of a free compilation put out by Paris/London based Yunizon Records and is available for stream here.

This song has me captivated. The producer, Romain Bauthier, or LUUUL, uses Roi’s voice to build the song up. It is all about her voice at first but then the beat gets faster and stronger in order to show how well her voice and the beat go together.
