how lifes been feeling lately
Hello, minis! This is Amanda, this is my first real post and i think it's an important discussion to have.
In dead by daylight there's this very treacherous hole that lies within the game that isn't spoken about.
Day in and day out i find that as a community we're so separated and angry all the time, and it sucks, not to say that genuine opinions aren't warranted but it genuinely sucks when people are so aggressive to each other.
We all play the same game, what you do to others directly affects others and yourself.
It's a complex trauma loop, you play normally, you lose horribly and then these walls come up around you, it feels like a tempest of feelings collecting into one.
The game only rewards one type of gameplay and the sad truth is that as humans we need validation, it's the crucial social level that protects us, i think that's why this game attracts the worst people.
It's because the game doesn't reward effort, or time, or energy it rewards results, so the natural response is to streamline process, reduce the time in between.
When you kill the distance you kill your number one enemy, which is time.
The sad truth is that there is no logical reason to fix this, at least, for a company.
The obvious solution is to offer more, not less.
When diminishing returns was added i knew there was an extreme problem.
Removal.
It's final, just as the ending of anything.
It's never gonna be the same, regardless of how you spin it.
No one ever gets anywhere by removing, by limiting, the true source is within growth and adaptation. I'm glad to see people seeing the obvious but unfortunately i fear it's too late, creativity was this game's appeal, you could accomplish a lot, but the problem was always absolute loss... When you lose, it's a loss.
So why not invent other ways to win, other options.
Gen defender, survivor's survivor, martyr.
Eazy, things that could offer rewards for specific gameplay, gameplay that not only benefits gameplay but interactivity, and a positive gameplay environment that's not so goal oriented. This solution offers alternatives that while not winning can be an addition that doesn't remove that effort but focuses that effort elsewhere.
These can offer bloodpoints, iridescent shards, banners or anything really.
This also removes pressures to comfort to the collective win condition, as always I'd love to hear from people, and other ideas!
