Carlos had spent most the day setting everything up, making sure everything was organized, making sure that the area was merely reserved for the both of them. The small park in which they had shared their first date in Chicago, making sure that he had prepared both of their favorite food and that everything was set up, the fairy lights twinkling gently on the trees, giving him the calming ambience he had been hoping for, the picnic basket st up on the blanket with the wine chilling. He wanted to make Valentine special for Amara, even though he had given no indication that he was celebrating with her, he had wanted to surprise her completely. He’d text her this morning, asking her to meet him at their first date spot as the sun set and not to bring anything.
Carefully lighting the last of the candles as he heard the ground crunching behind him, standing upright and turning around, smiling happily when he saw Amara approaching the scene he had created carefully. “Happy Valentine’s Day, Princessa!” He exclaimed honestly. “I figured why not make our special spot a little more romantic for this special day.” He felt a little stupid for being so cheesy but the woman deserved, especially with how distant he had been since his return from Italy. “Sit down and make yourself comfortable.”
