Looking back at her, he observed her, she looked sad, scared. She worried about her family… He understood, though. At any moment, he could get a call from the hospital telling him his mom was on her last hour… He knew it could only be a matter of time before he passed, he tried to spend as much time with her. It was split between her, work and Ingrid; he was burning out. His mom had been the one to suggest Ingrid and him go away, but it didn’t stop him from being guilty. If something happened to her while he was gone, he knew he’d never forgive himself.
Smiling back at her, “I love you too…” Although he had felt guilty for leaving, he was excited to be spending that time with Ingrid. It was really the best way to spend his time if he wasn’t at work or with his mom… It would be great for them to spend some intimate time together. Their sex life was fantastic, it just had dwindled with all the shit going on in the city that forced him to work more. He could be slightly insecure when it came to their sex life… Despite her being younger, she had definitely had a lot more experience and all he wanted was to satisfy her. It would be good to get back to that.
He chuckled at the thought of the cat on the leash, but if it made Ingrid happy, he would do it. “She’ll be pretty cute on a leash.” The fluffy white cat outside was a humorous thing. Especially next to Winston who was this beast of a 90 pound dog, “I think the outdoors will be good for the two of them.” He looked over to her, she was so goddamn beautiful and she was his. Despite the fact that his mother was slowly dying, having Ingrid made it easier. He wouldn’t self-destruct with her around. “I’d be okay with that… especially if you’re wearing nothing.” He smirked back at her.
There was a sense of uncertainty in the air at the moment. Not in regards to their relationship, but everything else around them. She sometimes wondered if perhaps her relationship with Dominic was the only thing that stopped her from completely falling apart. She could have an awful, bloody and despairing day but the thought of returning home to Dominic always calmed her and she hoped that she gave him the same comfort.
Smiling gently at him, she couldn’t help but wonder if sometimes she wasn’t enough for him. They came from such different worlds and she often wondered if Dominic wanted someone who was a little less chaotic. Someone who didn’t bring so much drama into his life, how much had changed since they’d gotten together? He had to move houses, deal with her moving in and the looming threat of her lifestyle always floating above him.
Nodding her head. “I got her a cute little pink that matches Winston’s blue one.” She explained. She wanted this weekend to be a chance for them to act like a normal couple, away from Chicago, as far as anyone around them would think, they were merely happy couple having a weekend away together. Smirking gently at his response and shrugged her shoulders innocently. “Either very little or nothing at all.” She giggled in reply.
—— C H A R L I E didn’t have the best luck when it came to meeting people in cafe’s. Hopefully this particular one would somehow be a little in her favor. Unlike her other S I B L I N G S, Ingrid seemed to be the only one open to wanting to at least S P E A K to her. That’s all she wanted really, to just T A L K and if they decided at the end of the conversation they wanted nothing to do with her, she’d understand. At least they would have given her a chance. Arriving at the cafe, she sighed before opening the door, the warmth instantly brushing over her face. The I N V I T I N G scent of coffee flooding her senses slightly putting her at ease. Standing in the entrance, she looked around trying to see if anyone would have given her a signal to sit, but no one seemed out of the ordinary. I N G R I D did say she would be a little late. Taking another breath, she held onto the strap of her messenger bag before finding a seat. Nervously she kept looking up every few seconds waiting for her sister to walk through the door. ♡
@acrmsnstory
Ingrid knew this probably wasn’t the best idea, meeting with someone who was claiming to be her long-lost half-sister. Especially when she knew the rest of the Vasile’s wanted nothing to do with the young woman, but Ingrid could relate to that, hadn’t she been shunned by her family too? The short walk from the Mayor’s office to the cafe seemed to take longer than usual, perhaps it was because she was nervous about this meeting, what if someone saw her? What if Charlie wanted answers that Ingrid didn’t have? Stepping into the cafe, her golden eyes darting around the room until they landed on the girl who somewhat resembled her, making her way over to her. “Charlie?” Finally uttered.
“You have a boyfriend? Congrats”. Ingrid certianly wasn’t the same young girl Travis saw back in Russia all those years ago. Now there were more complicated things that entwined around her and the rest of the family. It was a shame, truly, that things had come to this.
He nodded his head curtly, “Yes. Things are changing, and they needed assistance, so I had to move here. Hopefully I’ll be able to move back to Russia soon, but I’m doubtful at the same time”. Dark black eyes looked over the woman as Travis smiled, “Have you spoken to the rest of the family recently?”
Nodding her head, still making herself comfortable as she reached into her bag and pulled out the small bag of popcorn and popping it eagerly in her mouth. “I’ve had a lot of boyfriends over the years.” She admitted with a simple shrug. It probably shocked the family from Russia, to see how much the littlest Vasile had grown over the years since they last saw her.
“That family is a fucking mess.” She stated bluntly. Popping some more popcorn into her mouth but pausing mid-chew at his next question. She wasn’t sure if Lev had mentioned anything about being in contact with Ingrid. “You know that’s not allowed.” She said softly.
“Jealous? Of you? I’m not sure why I would be jealous of the result of failed birth control.” Her whole need to be the best and be number one had always been for her, at least that was what Kat tried to tell people. That it had nothing to do with her overwhelming need to be accepted by her family. She had to show that she was smart, that she could handle herself, and that despite anything Kat could be the best. “Well I’m not the only one so nice try. And I’m not about to stand here and be judged about getting something by default by someone who has no idea what it’s like to try at anything.”
Ingrid merely glanced at her sister. A bored expression on her features. “We were all failed birth control,” She pointed out bluntly, the bored tone still evident in her voice. “At least I was the failed birth control that he loved the most.” She quipped back. That was always the one thing that Ingrid had held over her siblings, that she had always been the treasured one. The one that her parents had adored the most. She knew it led to the resentment, the driving wedge between them, Dimitri had never been good at hiding who his favorites were. “You’re right, I’ve never had to try at anything and yet look at me- top internship at the Mayor’s office and dating a handsome Doctor who loves me, a nice apartment and people who continue to adore me. How does that make you feel when you’re still stuck at home?”
Nodding, “Agreed, first the festival, then St. Patrick’s Day… Chicago can’t catch a break, neither can the hospital.” He mumbled to himself. Although the Fire & Ice festival, Ingrid had nothing to do with, she knew something about St. Patrick’s day… He didn’t push her, he knew she didn’t want to divulge that side of her life with him. He loved her and sometimes that meant being okay with what she did in her private life. He wanted to be his best version of himself, instead of the workaholic doctor he was destined to be. That didn’t change that the hospital was needing all hands on deck due to the mishaps the city had been experiencing. He hadn’t taken a day off since he started, so his superior happily gave it to him.
Grinning, “Special items… I cannot wait to get you to that cabin, because as soon as we open the door, I am going to ravish you.” Looking over at her, he thought she was so goddamn beautiful, the way the setting sun hit her face, her smile, her voice… there was something about it that made his heart beat faster. He wasn’t sure what their future was, but he wanted to be a part of it.
“A picnic sounds wonderful actually. Take Winston, maybe even Igloo, if she can handle it,” There he was, being all domesticated, with a steady girlfriend and their dog and cat. Giving her a smile, “A picnic, a walk, we could just relax, enjoy ourselves and nature.” The two of them and some much needed alone sounded like a dream, “And naps?” He suggested with a grin. Naps were a given with his job, it’s really the only time he got rest on his 12 hour shifts, “That leads to more, who knows!“
Ingrid almost felt guilty about the chaos the life she was apart of caused Chicago. That it meant Dominic had to work more than usual and that meant she didn’t get to see him as often she would like. “I just hope nothing happens while we are away.” She admitted softly, the idea of someone in her family getting hurt and she wasn’t there to help made her heart sink slightly. She knew tat Dominic felt the same, something massive happening and him being unavailable to offer help would eat at him, yet they also deserved time away for themselves, where they could enjoy one another company.
Ingrid glanced over and smirked at him. “I’m more than okay with that.” Though their sex life was still amazing, it had dwindled slightly ever since they both started working more and she was excited about getting that sexual spark back over the weekend. Studying him carefully as she watched him concentrate on driving, there had always been something special about him, she had been attracted to him the moment he had walked into the hospital room. Leaning over and pressing a gentle kiss to his cheek. “I love you.” She said softly.
“We should definitely take Igloo, I want her to spend some time outside, I got a little harness for her too.” She waned their animals to get some fresh, country air as well, to watch Winston run and Igloo explore somewhere that wasn’t a two bedroom apartment. Nodding her head eagerly at the idea of naps. “It wouldn’t shock me at all if we spent most the time napping.” Chuckling softly and kissing his cheek once more. “The bed in the photo looked so comfortable too.”
“Loser?” he mused. grinning down as Ingrid. Watching the angry look on her face turn into a smile. It was good to see her, it felt as though they hadn’t seen each other in a long while. Though he was always sure to greet her when he saw her around the hotel. For the most part he had been busy, a promotion gained him new responsibilities and then most of his free time was with Phe. Davut made a mental note to do better at spending time with Ingrid , Audrey, Holden and the others. Because he was sure to hear about it later if he didn’t. “ You look about as happy to be hear as I am.” he chuckled letting her take the seat. “ Where have you been hiding?”
“You heard me.” She teased gently. Taking a sip of her coffee as she smirked at Davut. She hadn’t been able to spend a lot of time with the family, she was always working or trying to spend time with Dominic but she was still trying her best to remain in contact with them, even if it meant sitting down for a quick coffee on her lunch-break. “I didn’t really plan on spending my day off here, I wanted to stay home.” She admitted, yet now she found herself surrounded by a bunch of stoned and drunk people. “I’m just making an appearance and then probably heading home to get some free time.”

How long has this been going on for? Lev has lost count of the weeks as he maintains contact, only knowing that one day it might just pay off. Until then, he would enjoy the time carefully. Currently, it doesn’t much matter– the streets are packed, everyone is completely fucked, and he is careless as he searches out the familiar face of his youngest sister.
There are a lot of feelings when it comes to this particular Vasile offspring. Good, bad, and ugly, he experiences it all, picking and choosing what the mood of the day will be. Today, it will be nothing but good. He goddamn swears it. The moment he finds her in the crowd, he waves overhead, yelling out her name as he weaves through strangers. Stoned out of his mind, Lev’s arms are immediately outstretched as a comically wide smile stretches across his features. “There she is! Look at you. Did you shrink? How’ve you been?”
Ingrid was a little nervous about meeting her brother, it was always in the back of her mind that it could merely be an ambush, away to get her alone and her family could finally extract their revenge. Yet today was different, it was crowded and it seemed everyone was too stoned to actually be able to do anything like get revenge on an estranged family member.
Casually picking at the now cool Churro that was wrapped in the brown paper as she weaved her way through the crowd, popping some of the sugary, doughy goodness into her mouth as she kept her eyes open for the sight of flaming red hair, the same hair that matched hers naturally. It was never difficult to spot Lev out of a crowd. Finally spotting the hair and smiling to herself as she continued to push her way through the crowd.
Walking over and placing a gentle kiss on his cheek. “I’ve lost a little bit of weight, busy.” She said as she swatted him gently at the mention of shrinking, she’d always been the smallest and they never let her forget it. “Just working and spending time with Dominic.” She admitted. “I live a boring life now.”
In all honesty when she had spoken Kat hadn’t realised that it was Ingrid standing in front of her. If she had the woman might have just turned away and looked for someone else to help her. Talking to her sister was the last thing she wanted, let alone talking to the woman when Kat was stoned and a little bit drunk. Though this time she knew it was the girl and not some figment of her imagination. “Oh I never stopped acknowledging your existence, you can’t wish someone was dead if they never existed. I just stopped acknowledging I have a little sister. Because I don’t anymore.” No love lost in that way though, Kat’s words accompanied by a sarcastic smile.
The last thing Ingrid wanted was an argument, she was tired of the fighting, it seemed to be everywhere she went these days, tensions were always high yet the words from her sister caused the fists to clench at her side as she shot her a smarmy smirk. “Well you were always jealous that I was the favorite and youngest,” she replied snidely with a simple shrug. Perhaps she was on edge too, always worrying that something was going to happen because it always did. “I suppose now you get your wish about being the number one girl, after all there aren’t any left. You win by default only, as always.”
Open: to all
He didn’t often make it a habit of partaking in cannabis products. He prefered to have his full cognitive senses about him. But given that it was 4/20, he decided to let loose for the day. And by letting loose; he ment have one celebratory blunt that his sister had so gracefully gifted him before she ran off to do god knows what. He meandered his way through the fanfair. Hazel eyes casually observing a dispensary across the street, near the pier. A pop-up cafe had a few round plastic tables and chairs set up, and one had just opened up giving him a perfect view. Davut made his way towards the now empty seat, pulling out his phone about to send a text but bumped into another person instead. His phone clattering to the ground; aparently he wasn’t the only person eyeing this spot, “ I don’t suppose i can convince you to take another table.”
@crimsonstarters
It had only been the pressing of other people that Ingrid had even decided to attend the event. The idea of being around a bunch of stoned, possibly drunk people wasn’t exactly something that struck Ingrid as an ideal day, especially considering she had it off. She had wanted to spend the day in bed, maybe binging something on Netflix but others had persuaded her and now she found herself clutching a coffee by the pier as she looked around, hoping to find an empty seat so she could rest. Spotting one as she hurriedly walked towards it, bumping into someone who clearly had the same idea. Ready to send a curse word their way before realizing who it was. “or you could just join me, loser.” She said with a small smile.
@crimsonstarters status: open to everyone location: park playground (smoke free zone)
normally audrey would of be off roaming around with ophelia, full of laughter as they looked for the first place they’d eat at once the munchies kicked in. this year was different, she was sat in one of the adult swings on the playground enjoying the view of the kids running around while she waited for autumn to get back with something to eat. the blonde didn’t want to risk getting too close to all of the smoke knowing that the second hand effects wouldn’t be good in her current situation, besides this is where she told summer they’d meet so she might as well wait for both of her friends to come back. the girl looked up when she heard a pair of footsteps get closer, “oh i’m sorry, am i in your way? you can totally have the swing.” she stood up anyway before getting a concrete, just to save the person some time.
Ingrid felt like she hadn’t seen anyone lately. Instead she was merely wandering through, going about the tasks required of her and nothing more. She wasn’t even sure what everyone in the O’Shea’s was doing, though she had the feeling that most of them would be more than partaking in today’s celebration. Walking through the park, one of the few places that wasn’t engulfed in a thin cloud of smoke and spotting a familiar blonde and walking towards her. Chuckling lowly at her question and shaking her head. “Nope.” She said simply, falling into the vacant swing beside her. “Getting some practice being in a park?” She teased.
Kat rarely got high, though anyone who had seen her since Easter might have not believed that comment. Showing up to Sunday lunch stoned (though that was on her friends), and then lighting up twice with her brothers, now she was feeling right at home at a 420 event. She’d smoked a joint with Callie already and now Kat was looking for something else, getting herself a beer and looking around. Speaking to the person standing next to her she had a grin on her face, “God there’s so much going on here I don’t know where to start. Where are the good food trucks?”
@crimsonstarters
There had once been a time when Ingrid would’ve felt right at home at such an event. Yet since the incident at the festival, she had pulled away, barely even having a drink except the occasional glass of wine when she was curled up on the couch with Dominic. Now she found herself almost wandering aimlessly through the event, she had lost everyone earlier on, instead wandering around and trying to find some decent food. The normal cigarette perched between her lips and frowning when she heard the familiar voice of Kat. Plucking the cigarette from her lips and glancing at her. “You’re actually acknowledging my existence?” She shot back.
Oh, what he would give to wipe that look off of her face. Better yet – to remove her face completely. Although he wasn’t a native to the Vasiles from the very start, Silas was fully aware of particular names and faces. Some of which held higher priority than others, but the girl before him took the fucking cake.
“You and I both, it seems,” he replied with a small chuckle; well practiced to make it sound genuine. “Everything else is like a stroll through a park, but this one.. can’t say I have ever come by a clue like this before.”
Ingrid took another small sip of her coffee. It unnerved her slightly with the way the man was currently looking at her, but she quickly brushed that aside. Not everyone was out to get her or at least that’s what she kept telling herself. Though she was sure that her name was still quite high on people’s hit list.
“Maybe cheat and google it?” She suggested in a soft voice. “I mean, I’m sure that’s what most people do in these days.”
He pulled the car out of the garage as he started towards their destination, “Skinny dipping? Now I’m interested.” Grabbing her hand, he placed a soft kiss on it, with a smirk, “I think this weekend will be good for us. Nature, us and the animals.” He had plans in his head: sleeping in, cooking breakfast with each other, taking Winston on some runs and of course sex, whenever.
“Although, I do love it when I get to undress you… So maybe, you wear the suit, then we end up naked.” Giving her a wink, “But really, we can do anything you want, or don’t want to do. That’s what this weekend is for.” For them to unwind, relax and just be with each other. She had told him about her stepmother as well, so hopefully it would be a good weekend for her to heal and deal with whatever feelings she had regarding it. She didn’t say much about it, and he didn’t want to pry, but wanted her to know he was there for whatever she needed.
“So, we’ve got skinny dipping, cooking meals together, sleeping in… is there anything else you want to do or had in mind?” Giving her a smiled as they continued the drive. He wanted to make her happy, in whatever way she wanted or needed.
Ingrid smiled gently at him as he kissed her hand. She couldn’t help but wonder if this is what it felt like to feel contented with your life? It was the first time that she actually saw a long-term future with someone, She wanted to grow to be a better person, not just for herself but for Dominic as well. “It’s exactly what we need after everything that has happened.”
Chuckling lowly at his words, sending him a flirtatious wink. “I may have packed some special items of clothing specifically so you could take them off.” She confessed, she’d gone shopping just before the weekend, looking for some special items. She knew there would be a point where she would open up about her step-mother but now wasn’t the right time. It would probably come later when they were curled up in bed together. She was still coming to terms with it herself, knowing that there weren’t any Vasile parents left at all. Just the children expected to carry on the legacy.
Shaking her head. “I mean, we could pack a picnic and find somewhere nice to have lunch, if the weather allows it?” She suggested. She’d never really gone on picnics growing up but had always enjoyed them. “Maybe go for a hike or something?”
Travis only really added to the the amount of Vasile cousins running around the city, doing god knows what. It was still a surprise that nothing was getting done, even with their numbers. The cousin that approached him now was one he recognized, but only as a kid. He never really cared for any of his uncle’s kids, finding them as hard to care about as Dimitri was.
Of course, he was aware that Ingrid hadn’t been around recently, and was no longer apart of the family aside from name. It was interesting, and Travis would find out why later. “Это нейтральная земля”, he said as he moved over. “Я не могу сказать нет семье, верно?“
He looked the girl over before switching back to English, “Haven’t seen you since you were young. How have you been?”
Ingrid still didn’t know much about her family back in Russia, Dimitri rarely speaking about them when Ingrid was around. She only mainly knew them from photographs and the brief visit to Russia as a child. No contact except the occasionally awkward Facebook post from an older relative on her birthday and she had liked it that way.
Chuckling lowly, she figured that he was aware she was no longer apart of the family. Yet she figured the details hadn’t been given, that she had been the one who had pointed the gun to Dimitri’s head and pulled the trigger.
“I’m still young.” She pointed out with a small smile. Always deemed the baby of the family. “Busy. Working and spending time with my boyfriend.” Casting a short glance at him. “I’m guessing you’re here for family business?”
The cycle came to an abrupt halt upon the other’s inquiry. Water with lemon? Tyrian scoffed, drinking the rest of the water in his glass before staring at the girl with a pointed look. Not exactly a glare, but not amused either.
“Might as well have asked if I wanted cucumber water,” he replied before raising his now empty glass to her. For the time being, at least he stopped with the repeated motions of trying to distract himself from the very very tempting display of alcohol in front of him. “I’d rather have Scotch, but that’s bad if I’m trying to keep myself sober for a job later. Soda is a preferable alternative… if you’ve got any.”
Ingrid leaned casually against the counter, eyeing the person who had been mulling over their drunk for most the night. She figured he would want another non-alcoholic drink, she practically lived off water and lemon during her shifts.
“Cucumber water ain’t bad either, but we aren’t fancy enough to have cucumber here.” She replied bluntly. Sure, they occasionally got the office yuppies but it was usually gangsters wanting a reprieve from their life and knowing The Pint had always been neutral territory. Nodding her head. “We have coke.” She said bluntly. “and I’m guessing you don’t want scotch with it?” She asked curiously.
Dominic made sure the car was ready for Ingrid and his’s getaway. She was making sure everything was ready upstairs. The two of them were going to get away for the weekend, cabin by the lake, just the two of them and their pets… It was going to be a really nice weekend. Dominic had been swamped at work and Ingrid was working at the mayor’s office and it feels like they’re worlds apart. He came upon her, overlooking their bags and he smiled to himself.
“You probably did a perfect job of packing.” He interrupted her, knowing she was going over the list twice, making sure she didn’t forget anything. “Yep, car looks good, I was coming up to get the bags. Winston is waiting patiently and Igloo has no idea what’s going on, so I think we’re ready.” Smiling, he pulled her closer into his arms and ran his hands up and down her back gently, “It’s going to be amazing.”
Honestly, it was going to be a dream. They were going to bring up a bunch of groceries so they could just be together and cook and not worry about leaving the cabin for anything if they didn’t have to. I’m sure Winston and Igloo would have liked the change of pace. “I think you planned this getaway fantastically.” Kissing her head, he knew Ingrid did damn well at these things. “Now, let’s go, so we can beat the traffic.” The four of them piled into the car and he started the journey up north, grabbing Ingrid’s hand, he squeezed tight, giving him the feeling of content. She was becoming more and more apart of his future and it made him incredibly happy.
They had been talking about this weekend getaway for weeks now and Ingrid was relieved that it was finally happening, they both needed desperately to get away from the city for the weekend. She wanted nothing more than to spend time with him and their animals, the small family they had made for one another and enjoying each others company. Glancing over and smiling softly at Dominic as he walked into the bedroom, the car keys in his hands.
Ingrid smiled up at him, leaning in and kissing him gently on the lips. “I just don’t want us to have to leave the cabin.” She admitted, which is why they had piled up on foods, drinks and everything else they needed. Reaching up and gently zipping up the two bags, handing one to Dominic. “I think Igloo and Winston are going to love the space.” She admitted, she’d be lying if she hadn’t been looking at actual houses recently, somewhere they could possibly raise a family one day.
It hadn’t taken long to pack up the rest of the car, Ingrid making sure the animals were safe and settled before climbing into the passenger side of the car. Smiling as he squeezed her hand. “It’s going to be great,” she confessed softly. She’d spent the past few days making sure everything was perfect for the two of them. “I also made sure that I packed our swim suits in case it’s warm enough to go swimming in the lake,” she added, smiling softly at him. “or we could just skinny dip.” She teased.
