W.I.P OF MY WARCRAFT OC!!! This lovely lady is none other than Zel's mother, Amareh. (Also goes by Mari!)
Love...
So, I legitimately kept, and continue, to keep forgetting it's actually Valentine's Day. Most importantly because there's a piece of art I've wanted to do for a while, showing what Zelun'jin spends this day doing.
He visits his mother.
So Zel and Mari, they had this hideout, a safe place for Zelun'jin specifically cause he was an oddball and got picked on a bit, like fat lip, black eye kinda shit. Anyways. It was a little cave not too far north from Sen'jin Village, near the shoreline. It's decked out with a beaded entrance, bunches of dried herbs, incense, stones, and Mari's handprint next to little kid Zel's. It's there that Silluz brought Mari's remains, and buried her.
So every year Zelun'jin and Silluz both return here, and knowing Mari's deep love of flowers, each bring her back a new one they've discovered. Silluz casts a druidic spell to preserve the flowers, so Amareh's grave is always vibrant and lovely, and despite Zel's abhorrence to the Loa, he gives an offering in honor of is mama.
This year Silluz picked Akunda's Bite, and Zelun'jin, learning from the Zandalari the deep connection Star Moss has to those that have passed on, chose it.
(Quick af sketch, cause why not)
Happy Valentine's everyone!
Super messy, but I felt super inspired, and I just had to sketch Amareh, Zelun'jin's mama <3
I quite like the way she looks in this piece, strong features and whatnot. I'm probably gonna mess with her colors still, cause they aren't quite where I want them 🤔
"Ahhhhh yes, I been expectin' you for a while now Mari-"
"I just be needin' ta know...if...if he..." she couldn't even finish the sentence. Amareh turned herself towards the Loa, a wild desperation in her eyes.
Bwonsamdi looked pitifully at the trolless, "Eh, he be alive."
The small flicker of hope warmed her heart, a sigh of relief escaped her, but was extinguished by the Loa's next words:
"BUT, that be no guarantee he going ta make it out of dere alive."
An eerie silence hung in the air, as the reality of Bwonsamdi's words hit her. She looked down at her hands, as she bit her lip in deep thought. Ever since Zelun'jin came into her life she loved him. It terrified her just how much she loved him. Her heart ached thinking of his bashful face, his soft scarlet hair, and contagious giggles. Long days spent teaching him about the local fauna, and ending the evening at the tribes bonfire celebrations. Singing those Zandali lullabies to ease him to sleep, and his deep love for all living things.
He deserved so much more.
She clenched her fists, the small flicker of hope reignited, now a flame in her eyes. Her voice was low and steady, "He'll be safe?"
Bwonsamdi's eyes burned intensely, "Ya know the price of what ya be wantin' Mari? He not be da same troll ya once knew." He shook his bony finger at her, as if scolding her.
Amareh bared her teeth, "I want ya word Bwonsamdi, I want ta know he's gonna be safe."
Bwonsamdi's face broken into a huge grin, "Of course, of course!" His outstretched hand glowed a sickly blue, "Soooo?"
Amareh took a deep breath, as she placed her hand in his, "Then we have a deal."
A wicked grin still on his face, Bwonsamdi let out a hearty laugh, as the binding magic slowly crept up Amareh's arm, "A soul," his eyes grew deadly as he looked into her's, "for a soul."
I'm trying to do the lineart of this piece, but I keep wanting to cry. Little kid Zel, innocent, pure hearted. Loves his flowers and his animals, and his mama. Just SO happy.
And Amareh. Gawd, she loved her little boy. Zelun'jin was her life, and she wouldn't trade him for the world.
W.I.P I felt like destroying my heart so I'm doing a Zelun'jin and Amareh piece. I'm definitely not crying. Nope.
"Well Amareh, my dear, it seems you finally be comin' ta ya senses. You see now that Vol'jin is weak-" "Ya honestly think that I care what ya have ta say!? Save ya breath Zalazane, I be here for my boy." "You come here ta waste MY time for ya boy!? There be no reason then, cause he ain't here!" Zalazane's eyes flickered beneath his mask as deep, rumbling laughter escaped him. Despite her devotion to Bwonsamdi, she felt her resolve weakening in this foul presence. "I KNOW Zelun'jin is on these Loa-forsaken isles!" Zalazane composed himself, and flashing Amareh a wicked grin, gestured his hand at one of the guards behind. She couldn't feel anything as the mindless slave stepped forward. The firelight danced acrossed his scarlet mane of hair. Those eyes...once warm and inviting, now black and cold, pierced her. Guilt overwhelmed her, as her mind rejected this creature in front of her. "No...not him. Please, not my mem'ki..." "Ya see now foolish woman? You won't be findin' him here anymore."
Zelun'jin's mom, Amareh, with her flats.
