Feeling a lil blue (not valentines day related). Is it okay for me to ask for stories about Eve and Bea? And how are you? It feels like forever since I last asked.
I’m always ever so grateful for your lovely asks <3 And I’m a little blue lately, too, so maybe this’ll be good for cheering us both up : )
Eve and Beatrice are my constant companions, nothing has changed there. Though it’s a little funny how their own personal schedules have adjusted since Eve crawled her way out of puppyhood.
This time last year, whenever a night got too cold for their tastes (which I should not is not really that cold to me 10 hours south of my usual climate, but I do suppose I now live with two Alabama girls), Eve will actually go to bed without us and get under a blanket all on her own by at least 10 PM. Which makes night time the only time that Beatrice can act like an only fur-child again. This is usually when I take those selfies of her crawling all over me and being silly. She has a preference for laying on my chest even when I’m upright in a sort of gravity defying gymnastics I’ve yet to understand.
When my friends and I have a weekend free for all of us, we get together and have a fire pit in one of my friends’ yards where we roast hotdogs, make s’mores, and generally act like people not having their souls crushed by academics. The best part is where everyone’s a vet student there’s an expectation that you bring your dog over with you to the party. So while we’re all making food and small talk, the dogs have the run of the yard. They’ve kind of become their own little pack.
Last night it was stupidly cold even for my tastes, but we spent from sundown all the way until about 2 in the morning at the fire pit and the dogs hardly stopped the entire time. Eve in particular, despite being only the size of a very small labrador, seems to think she’s in the same weight class as my friends’ great pyrenees, german shepherd, and the great dane. So Eve was going twice as hard as the other dogs to play and was jumping over chicken coops and generally being a nut the whole night. As expected, she’s been almost completely dead all day today as a result. She’s only been awake long enough to go to the bathroom a few times and come investigate when I was making some dinner. I’m hoping she can stay up long enough for a walk!
Beatrice doesn’t have as many outrageous stories, she’s too well behaved of a cat to be honest, but I think one of the best and most consistent stories about her is her determination to sleep on top of me no matter what. If I sleep on my couch, on the floor, in my bed on my stomach, side, or back, Beatrice needs to be sleeping as close to my heart as possible. Which sounds adorable and Disney-esque, but in practice is probably one of the more annoying things to wake up in the middle of the night to. The cat is determined to suffocate me. My parents used to make fun of my complaints about this, but after I lived with them for a month and they both got to experience it for themselves, they no longer think it’s that hilarious.
I hope some of those silly fur-children facts brightened the day a little : )
