[text: MADI ] ... [text: MADI ] It is undeniable [text: MADI ] That neither of us can accomplish what we have set out to do without him. [text: MADI ] And yet he should not be made to choose.

Accepting the letter with equally as shaky hands, John carefully dropped himself down onto the closest stall. The last time he had seen James, the man had been in good physical health, bar a few injuries here and there. To hear that he had passed on less than a year after their parting, was painful. With a soft sigh John bowed his head, running his hands through his hair.
“I suppose it was going to happen eventually.” He murmured “At least he passed on knowing Thomas was alive.” There was little more he could ask for. Despite parting on less than friendly terms, he still considered Flint to be a dear friend, a brother even. Giving the man some peace before he died was the least he could have done.
"Flint has died"
“What?” Silver croaked. Flint could not possibly be dead. He had made every effort to ensure that he did not die, it had taken weeks of planning to arrange for Flint to be safely and secretly moved to Savannah. No one bar himself and Madi knew of his survival, he should have been safe, alive. Madi had to be wrong, or he must have misheard her. “What do you mean ‘Flint has died’?”

Mary cast a furtive glance up and down the hallway. “No, you’re not. Let’s get you out of those chains.” She ducked quickly into the cell and noting the look of trepidation on the woman’s face quickly added, “it’s ok, I’m with the pirates.” She grinned at the woman. “I’ve heard a lot about you.” She worked as quickly as she could trying to free the woman she had come to admire just from the stories she had heard.
“The name’s Mary. Mary Read. We should get going before they discover us.”

John turned his head just in time to press a kiss to her palm. He gently rubbed his hand over her stomach, trying to calm the little one inside her. He kissed the stretch marks from her swollen belly and hummed against her skin. “Not my fault,” he retorted. “How could you expect me not to touch you when you were looking as you were last night?” John moved up her to body to press a kiss to her chin. “Wrapped only in sheets with your hair down.” His lips caught her own. Said sheets had been tossed to the floor during the warm night. Maroon Island had become a safe place for Madi to stay while she carried their child. If John had anything to say about it, they both would not leave until the child was almost an adult.
