1) Traci (a work friend) and I officially adopted Movie Night at her place (good food, cushy couch, pajamas, lots of pets) whenever we need a mental break. It works very, very well.
2) I was nominated for a best actress award from the Christmas play I was in last year (and fully agree with who won, because I saw her play and she was epic in it).
3) I finished a lot of stories. That may not seem like much, but writing is hard. Finishing is harder still.
4) I helped get a friend to the Mayo Clinic for a diagnosis that might end more than a year's mystery suffering. *crosses fingers*
5) I finally got Netflix.
6) I figured out the Singulair I was taking to cut down mucus production from my stupid allergies was causing the massive blood pressure spike, stopped taking it, and am back to my usual normal blood pressure. That, friends, was scary.
7) I learned how to make bagels to give a friend for her birthday because she never gets onion bagels, her favorite, because no one else likes them.
8) In a very small way, I helped in the effort to convince the Army Corps of Engineers, etc., to not grant Dakota Access the necessary permits for their bullshit pipeline. And helped the people at Standing Rock directly, but shush.
9) I wrote AND FINISHED an honest to God script. For a movie. I even wrote a query and a synopsis, though I haven’t actually blind queried yet. Trying to find places willing to look at blind submissions (and get it directly to Dwayne Johnson, who is instrumental).
10) Looked so good as Titania in our production of A Midsummer Night's Dream that I surprised myself because I'm SO not used to that. Thanks to my favorite drag queen for teaching me to contour like a BOSS.
2016 wasn’t a great year so it’s nice to think back on the good things that did happen. Not gonna lie -- this one took me a while. But it was probably a good exercise, so...
