a while ago there was that post going around that was like “the ideal media needs to have a perfect balance between ridiculous whimsy and the most heart-wrenching pain you’ve ever seen” and people were tagging it as like, normal levels of stories that have both fucked-up stuff and comedy, like mdzs or succession or whatever. listen to me. listen to me. a serious adult story that maintains a level of comedy tonally consistent with a serious adult story is not what you need. you need shit where characters go to space in the middle of a fight for no reason. you need kamen rider blade takoyaki episode right before shit starts tearing your heart apart. you need showa riders forever alienated from humanity fighting the stupidest villain plots you’ve ever seen. you need stacey finally breaking down and crying on yacchan’s shoulder in the middle of freaking zenkaiger.
