Today we celebrate Bishop Tikhon of Amathus in Cyprus. Saint Tikhon from a young age showed mercy on the poor, giving them free bread from his father's shop. When his father found out, he scolded him only to find the storehouse even fuller of bread than it was before. The Saint then grew up and eventually became bishop in Amathus, Cyprus where he battled vigilantly against the heretics and other pagans. He was known for his love and generosity to all.
