There's just something about a character who is a wolf in a world of cats, getting treated with the same respect and decency as any "normal" person in that world. Being able to stand next to that person and see them for who they are and not what they are. Other characters sitting on the couch next to them without hesitation because they know that hurting people is an idea that just hasn't crossed their mind.
That's the kind of story I want to read.
