#amazing session

I love D&D.

We had a cliffhanger from last session where we bumped into an ice dragon so we start off fighting. Tough fight. My character goes down twice and we needed to revivify the wizard. Cool.

Turns out the DM wasn't done and ends this session on an even bigger cliffhanger.

We rescued some people lately. Some test subjects from an Illithid laboratory and the Queen of Royalis, who happens to be the mother of the Party's paladin. Sadly the paladin got mind wiped in the lab fighting and didn't recognise him mom for a bit, but we fixed that. Now we were sneaking through dangerous territory so we put all the rescued people in this magical box that is a pocket dimension/demi plane kind of thing. (Everyone carries those right?) Queen wasn't sure about this but we were in dragon territory.

Now, after the fight we have to sneak through a dragon hatchery so the party, except my rat folk shadow monk, go into the cube so my character can get us out safely. That's when we discover that everyone is dead and the "Queen" isn't there anymore.

End session.

Side note: our paladin player forgot that they had the fact that his mom died in childbirth in his backstory and the DM has been waiting to do this reveal for several sessions.

Effing amazing session. Mucho thanks to @elitefourkylewantstobattle who is the DM to our shenanigans.

Also I love the fact that my character doesn't know this reveal yet.

I went to spread my legs, fully expecting to be pulled back by restraints. I was surprised when I wasn't. Has my brain fully accepted my place when it just assumes I'm locked in shackles?

I’ve said before how this simulation is like the reverse of Cypher from The Matrix for me.   I look at all these sessions and all I see are lines of code.  I only ever go look at a session in person if I’m trying to debug a specific feature. So it’s always really cool when someone who isn’t fuck deep in the code points out a neat session or interaction of players/events whatever.  Let’s me see what I’m doing through new eyes or whatever.  

You’ll notice a recurring theme in my “holy shit amazing session” posts is “holy shit I didn’t know my sim could do THAT!?!?!?!”  And KR pointed out that the Corruption mechanic is directly at odds with my new FreeWill mechanic. That is, GrimDark players can boycott SBURB all they want, but they can still be Mind/Heart/Rage/etc controlled into doing their tasks anyways. Holy shit.

Symphonic Pictures - Feathers

I recently saw Symphonic Pictures perform an intimate set in Ouseburn's Blank Studios and I thought that was a tight fit, but here they squeeze into an even smaller studio at Amazing Radio.

This is an acoustic version of Feathers, a track from their debut EP which came out last month on Cottage Industries. They perform alongside The Futureheads, Thumpers and Natasha Haws at next month's Chase Park Festival.
