Going back on my trip to Seoul last August, I spent my first sudden time off to the National Museum since it's only 10-minute walk from the place I stayed in. A 3-storey place that is rich in cultural heritage. The first floor gives you a tour of Prehistory and Ancient history to Medicine and Early Modern History. Second floor is all about the depth of Calligraphy and Painting, and a meaningful gallery where we can appreciate various antiquities from generous donors, who endeavoured to collect works throughout their lifetimes. Third floor is about sculpture and crafts, plus Asian arts that showcases the traditions of diverse Asian culture including China, Japan, India and Central Asia. It is such a privileged that I was able to participate in their two special exhibition: 1. The Etruscans - Rising to Rome. More than 300 items, exhibited for the first time in Korea, to bring light the everyday lives of the Etruscans, and their views on the world, religion, and death. This exhibition was organized to introduce Etruscan culture and widen cultural understanding in Korea. 2. Through the eyes of Joseon Painters : Real scenery landscapes of Korea. It is an intriguing exploration of how painters transformed the scenery that they observed and experienced firsthand into images. Overall experience is unforgettable. Four hours is enough to glimpse on Korean culture and history. Photos are limited but there's more than the images could offer.
