Finished reading The Martian this week, and now I’m even more excited to see the movie than I was after seeing the trailer. It’s a great story, told using astonishingly clear and simple prose -- the characters are the smartest people in the world doing the most complicated things possible, but I rarely felt like I was in over my head. Bottom line: A really fun futurist adventure that you absolutely should read if you’re on the fence.
Batgirl Vol. 1: Batgirl of Burnside
I’m not a big DC guy, but Cameron Stewart’s cover art drew me in and I fell in love with this book. It’s a fun combination of Scott Pilgrim, Archie, and Matt Fraction’s Hawkeye -- basically, my catnip. I read the entire arc in digital issues, but this collected volume is tempting me to double-dip.
