Amazon blackout from May 6th to May 12th, 2025.
Make Bezos hurt, hit him in the wallet like the target ceo is getting hit
A reminder that today is the start of the Amazon blackout week.
March 7th is an important day
I wanna make a more fleshed out version of this but I want to let everyone know, especially with the upcoming Amazon blackout, that Amazon is less essential to your life than you think it is.
I used to use Amazon all. the. time. As someone with not a lot of money and relying on public transport having inexpensive stuff shipped to me felt like something I couldn't afford to give up. Then I got locked out of my Amazon account (I got a new phone number and that screwed everything up) and got so mad that out of pettiness I stopped using it. Turns out, I didn't need it that badly.
I shop locally now mostly, unless I want a specific item from an online company. Or, for those cheap must-haves, I use ebay (buy it now feature is a lifesaver). Are they a little more expensive? Yes. Do I need to pinch a few more pennies? Yes. But it didn't upheave my life to stop usinh Amazon.
This is my experience and if you have to rely on Amazon (or a similar company) I'm not hear to shame you. But what I want to bring to light is that these companies design everything to make you think that you need them. No one is above commercial trickery. But we do not need these big corporations as badly as they want us to think they do.
